I’ve been following the 6-meals-per-day routine for over a year now, and I’ve noticed that if somehow I get distracted or forget, my body reminds me it is time to eat, in no uncertain terms…
I was at a student dentist facility for a tooth cleaning, and I times it so I could have my next meal at 11. However, the dentist had to leave and it took a lot longer. 20 minutes after 11, I was ready to kill. I was getting really irritated.
Today at work I got held up at a meeting and the same thing happened. I tried to be patient, but I started getting really, really grouchy when it got time to eat, pretty much right at the 3 hour mark. I’ve noticed this before… and someone said it might be because of low blood sugar.

Anyone else have these experienced?[/quote]
Absolutely. But, I try to eat stuff in between the meals, like nuts, cottage cheese, mozzerella sticks. Having a protein shake handy is good for those kinds of emergencies.
I’m a mess if I go too long without food. When that has happened, I don’t care about anything else but eating.
i get just nasty, it is the only thing that matters after a point
i almost drove through the side of a wendy’s when they put cheese on my tripple (i’m allergic and they already messed up the same order)…but then i realized its more important to eat first, rather than take the time to drive back,…after i was done i couldnt remember what i was so mad about haha
I definitely get irritable when I don’t get food, but I’ve been eating every 2 hours for the last week and it’s amazing for keeping energy levels even throughout the day.
I carry food with me at all times. I usually have an emergency protein bar in my purse. If worse comes to worse, I can always count on the diabetic guy I work with the have something
I was heading out on errands with my sister, who is pregnant, a few weeks ago, and it was pretty funny… we both had out cooler bags with us… we both eat every few hours… heck I even got her eating lots of eggs, my 6 eggs in the morning used to get some surprised comments… haha
By the way, the cooler bags are amazing. It’s an insulated lunch bag which has a built-in layer so you don’t need ice cubes. So you stick the bag in the freezer and the built-in ice layer freezes and keeps your food cool for like 5 hours.
I get grumpy as hell, too. Part of my problem is psychological. I start getting angry because I know if I don’t eat every three hours on the dot, or if I miss a meal god forbid, my workout for that day is gonna suck.
I get grouchy and irritable when I don’t eat frequently enough. I also get headaches, feel shaky and like I’m going to pass out. Turns out I’m hypoglycemic.
I used to get into huge fights with an ex about it because he never seemed to realize that “I need to eat” meant that something was wrong not that I was just hungry again.
I’ve gotten a lot better about carrying food around in my giant purse, which everyone seems to think is funny.
