NHL Playoffs

Yes, based on your interpretation of the three games, save for the first one being able to go either way, the habs are CLEARLY better. Lol. Kinda contradictory there pal.[/quote]

Montreal has beaten Boston 13 straight times before the Bruins’ playoff win the other day. Yeah, I’d have to say that the Habs are the better team. Like I said, playoff hockey is totally different than the regular season, so I’m not at all surprised that the Bruins are playing as hard as they are. However, when it’s all said and done, Montreal is the better team. This fact will be made quite evident Thursday night.

My beloved Red Wings are suckin bad. They need a regrouping big time between periods.

Finally got one with the man advantage. 1 - 2.

EDIT: That didn’t last long. 1 - 3

Apparently not, because I see a kid who’s playing like a kid - yes, he’s played well at points - but he’s also given up lots of dangerous rebounds, he’s let shots flubber through that were akin to a dump-in, and he’s yet to be seriously tested.

People who claim his reaction on a two on none, when he was beat but the Bruin missed the net, kill me.

Or his play on Sturm, when he jumped out to try and get the puck and was beat cleanly - again a sign of inexperience.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s got a world of upside and I’m sure will be an upper tier goalie. But to say “PRICE OWNZ OMFG LOLOLOL” is just inaccurate.

I think Price is playing a little better than you’re giving him credit for. That said, Thomas is playing the best he has all season against the Habs. It’s a nice contradiction in styles.

Price is a positional goaltender. He stays big in the net and only moves when he has to move. The Sturm incident was a misjudgment, however he made the best of it, once you commit stay committed, don’t retreat.

Thomas on the other hand, I don’t see as a natural goaltender. He’s more of an athlete with catlike reflexes. I’ve been impressed with his positioning and staying calm so far this series (although I’d rather not be impressed tonight. haha).

Tonight I’m expecting Kovalev to be more of a force since Montreal will have last change and Boston will not be able to have Chara and Lucic on every time Kovalev is on.

As much as I hate to agree with a habs fan ;), I have to here. I think Carey Price has played pretty damn well, especially for a 21 year old kid. He’s definitely shown some immaturity, i.e. the sturm 1 on 1 situation, but it didn’t seem to phase him much, he just got back in net and kept playing. good on him.

I think part of the difference in styles between price and thomas comes from size. Thomas is only 5’11", 200lbs whereas price is like 6’3" 230 or so. Those 4 inches and 30 lbs can take up a lot of space in the net. Especially against one post. That extra height and reach with the glove can be the difference in a lot of goals. The one from 2 nights ago being a prime example. Thomas got a bad look at it and only had time to try to get his shoulder up to block it. Price’s shoulder would have been 3 or 4 inches higher to start with. Might have made the stop, might not have.

On the other hand, I don’t think Price is anywhere near as quick as Thomas. And I think his (thomas’) unorthodox, “sprawling” style allows him to make a lot of ‘last ditch effort’ saves that many goalies might not even think to try (or at least not as quickly). The arm waving, pad stacking, diving around, convulsive kind of saves. Marty Brodeur’s one of the only other guys I can think of who does the same kind of thing. Not bad company to be in.

Regarding Kovalev vs Chara and Lucic, I think that might be offset by the win or go home situation the Bruins are in right now. Though I can also see Lucic losing his cool and decking Komisarek and spending half a period in the locker room too.

What the hell is up with Detroit? I told my roommate to put money on them winning and all hell broke loose. Something’s up with Hasek. It looks like Osgood is getting the nod as starter now, but I’m not sure if they have enough momentum.

No one say anything. I know.

hey anyone know the score of the bruins/habs game?

…right…5-1 on a huuuuuuge couple of flubs by the god himself, carey price!

Weird, it’s almost as though he wanted to prove my point on T-Nation!

Habs in 5…ole ole ole this.

that’s exactly the immaturity I was talking about with price. Montreal clearly the better team my ass. Oh man is Saturday gonna be good. I think I might just try to get tickets.

GO BRUINS!!!

Okay guys, okay…Can’t we all just get along?

Thats right. Flyers 4-3 Double OT baby. Bruins with the surprising 5-1 win

Okay, I just saw highlights of the Bruins/Habs game. Price was HORRIBLE. He played decently in the 1st Period, but that’s about it (got lucky on the stick save too). Other than that, awful. I’m getting worried now.

On the other hand, the Bruins played fantastic. I gotta give you guys some credit, you guys really want it.

Habs in 6, lol.

Between Game 6 and GSP going for the belt, I’m either going to be very happy or very fucking pissed off.

Honestly I can’t blame Price (or any goaltender) when the team doesn’t show up and only scores 1 goal!

Avalanche win!

Series is over on Saturday. They will finish of the Wild

nice showing by the sharks tonight. that series is over.

i’m hoping for a sharks-pens final…gotta do it

I wouldn’t mine seein’ Joe Thornton in the cup final, I must admit. That series is one of the best in the opening round, for sure.

SHARKS!!!

The Wings are totally controlling this game in every area which means next to nothing. They’re only up by one and the Preds are without Legwand and Arnott. I’ll take the win if that’s what happens, but it always bothers me beating a team with key guys out, especially in the post season.

It bothers me more that you aren’t higher up on the scoreboard with those key guys out and over a 20 shot advantage at the end of the 2nd.

I HATE these games. We ar outshooting Nashville 42-11 in the third with one goal lead.
