NHL Playoffs 2006

DEVILS FOR LIFE SON, DEVILS FOR LIFE!!!

Detroit’s the team to beat, they may be old but they have so much experience especially in the post season that i find it hard to believe anyone could beat them 4 times. Calgary will go far as Kipper carries the rest of those bums yet again through the post season. Alas my poor oilers better get out of 8th or they wont last long against detroit. Dunno much about the east but i dont the senators have what it takes, NY looks good and the devils are always a threat.

Wings look really good, but I’m biased

Matt

GO SHARKS! Thorton has been really picking up lately and helping the team out, their chemistry is perfect right now i hope they can carry this into the playoffs.

Our good ol’ habs are looking fine come playoff time, too! I’ll be seeing mtl vs the Sabres live on saturday, wish us good luck (like we’d need that :D)[/quote]

See this is a prime example of why the Sabres are the team to beat this year. The Sabres have locked a spot in the Playoffs, the Habs have not. It’d be easy for the Sabres to just lay down and give the Habs the win. Also considering it was 2-1 Habs at the beginning of the 3rd period, this seemed likely…

but the Sabres said “fuck dat shit! We don’t play dat!” And ended up winning 4-2.

Devs just capped off a 4-3 win to clinch the division after being down 3-1 with less than 9 minutes to go in the game. This team just doesn’t know how to lose, and I’m damn sure excited to see them cross the Hudson and whoop some ass against the Rags next week.

GO DEVILS!

I was going to start a thread on this, so it was good to see someone else did.

As for me, I’m a Western Conference guy. I think the boys over at CBC probably cried a lot of tears now that their two favourite teams – Vancouver and Toronto – both missed the playoffs. I say good riddance – I can’t stand hearing any more of people singing the praises of those two teams as they put up a lacklustre performance.

It’s funny, I’m an Edmontonian living in Calgary, and it seems like everyone hates Vancouver more than each other these days. Sure, there’s the rivalry when the Oilers play Calgary, but most fans seem to have some sort of respect for the other team. Oilers and Flames fans, however, are united in their hatred of the Canucks. I know some shit talking Canucks fan is always going to come out of the woodworks, but the fact that they missed the playoffs has really seemed to take the air out of most of them.

Anyway, I know it’s a long shot, but I hope the Oilers upset Detroit. If the boys can pull some of that magic they had in the middle of the season, we’ll have a chance.

Hell Yeah! GO DEVILS! They just finished off what was the longest win streak out of any team for the season. 11 straight! Devils are gonna romp all over Jagr and the Rangers.

I said some very hurtful words to the TV tonight when I saw the highlights. Giving up a 3 goal lead is unacceptable, especially going into the playoffs.

On the other hand, win or lose the Habs still would have finished 7th with Tampa losing.

I’m expecting Carolina over Mtl, but obviously still cheering for the Habs.

I am a rangers fan and i was rooting for the devils to pull off that win…nice work. I cant wait for the Rangers Devils Series…and because the devils have home ice advantage, its actually possible to get playoff tickets for the weeekend games since the devils have about as many fans as duke lacrosse, and you can always get their playoff tickets. I logged onto the rangers site yesterday morning and tickets to their unknown playoff game were sold out. I logged onto the devils site last night after the games and snatched up tickets to the playoff opener to watch my rangers role.

The rangers have the better goalie, the better defensemen, and the better superstar, and an ex devil with a chip on his shoulder. If the rangers play as well as they should they pull this out in 6 games.

LETS GO RANGERS

Ignoring that you claim an untested rookie is better than the consensus number one goalie in the NHL (Marty has more playoff wins than anyone else in the East even has playoff appearances), I’d have to say you make some good points.

The Rangers do have a better superstar and better defensemen. However, hockey is a TEAM sport. The Rangers have ALWAYS had a better superstar than the Devils, but somehow the Devils have won three cups in the past 10 years compared to the Rangers none. The Devils have been in three of the past five Stanley Cup Finals, compared to the Rangers making the playoffs exactly ZERO times during that same stretch.

As to the ex-Devil with the chip on his shoulder, Sykora was on the last team the Devils beat to win the Cup, the 2003 Mighty Ducks.

And if we’re talking about fans, how many people at MSG could even name the Rangers’ starting goalie? Corporate ticket sales in NY don’t count as fans, just watch a Knicks game.

dude, if you wnat to claim that rangers fans are not about 10000 times more die hard than devils fans you are deluding yourself and need to get your head out of the the weehawken river.

Lundquist would have been a consensus vezina winner without the injuries…as a rookie. he has already won the biggest competition in the world, and the one that is most important to him as a Swede, as a 22 year old. Brodeur is good, maybe even great but its not his time anymore.

I also have to believe that gionta will have a MUCH harder time scoring any goals what so ever with playoff officiating.

Are you really prepared to put a one season wonder like Lundqvist in the same category as Marty? I believe Pittsburgh had some swedish one hit wonder back in '03 who was supposed to be the next coming, then Hebert in anaheim. When your goalie runs off 9 straight 35+ win seasons, 5 40+ win seasons and has 3 cups in 9 years maybe you can call ihm better than Brodeur. And lets not forget that the Devils did take the season series from a team that you claim is better. Keep in mind as little as 2 1/2 months ago we were out of the playoff hunt and in 11 games we took what was rightfully ours…

You have to go with the best team in hockey, The Detroit Redwings…
Made all the right moves in the strike. Solid defense and scoring.

see above in response to lundquist. It doesnt matter if he is a one season wonder, it still that one season right now and he is phenomenal. he can be cack next season and it wouldnt matter for this series according to your argument because by what you have just said and by your own logic, Lundquist should be wonderful for this series.

and marty is overrated, he played behind a team that let up 5 shots a game for 2/3rds of his career. Big game richter is 10 times the goalie Brodeur was in big games. See 1994 cup run, 96 World championship run vs Martin “MATTEAU MATTEAU STEPHANE MATTEU” Brodeur.

Come on its the Wings all the way! The Pistons are going to win and the Red Wings are going to win. Say what you like about Detroit but we are going to be on top this year! We have to make up for the Tigers and Lions.

hahaha, well said.

Now that the leafs have been eliminated, im gonna have to go with the sharks. Thornton, a native of london, is gonna tear shit up. as for the eastern conference… well the devils always seem unbeatable.

Go Flames Go!

Friday night. Red Mile. Party time.

Flames/Oilers 2nd round is going to be awesome. Can’t wait for that series. (Detroit is gonna get destroyed by Edmonton by the way)

PS: Leafs suck. Time for their annoying fans to finally give up the dream and come to terms with it.

Keep on Rockin in the Free World.

Bdfone. Out.
