NH_Watts' TRT Log

I got better after 3 weeks and then it came back and then it got way worse.

Ouch get well and sleep allot. I had walking pneumonia and fatigue was real.

How much alcohol were you drinking. I’m also curious why you didn’t lose weight. Everyone metabolizes different. I know plenty of folks that drink but stay lean. When I was drinking in my 20s I picked up weight fast.

Yeah hitting that sleep hard. Just drained.

I would say from Nov-Dev I was averaging 2-5 drinks a night. On the low side a wine when I got home and one after dinner. On a higher night a wine or beer when I got home, one with dinner, maybe one during cleanup and maybe one or a double bourbon on the couch with the wife after dinner.

So yeah I figured dropping all those cals (food staying the same) the weight would melt off. Im not lean so figured that was a big hangup and honestly I am 3 weeks in so may still be adjusting and like I said ive been sick. Its frustrating because in the past, before TRT, dieting and stopping drinking never worked to shed a pound so I thought It’d be different now, and may still prove to be. Just need some time and to be well.

Well I do agree that you’ve been sick and only recently quit.

Putting the bottle down is a huge accomplishment in my world. I wish it were that easy for me.

I’d say if is very beneficial for your health regardless if you lose weight and I commend you on being able to quit through willpower alone.

I could not quit on my own… my coding is wack when it comes to these things… I envy you sir.

I wouldn’t say I ā€œput the bottle downā€ as I really only drink out of boredom, habit, and entitlement. I know it’s better for me so I need to get rid of it (mostly) because it will take its toll. Alcohol is a big part of my family and heritage for better or worse so its always been a part of my life. Health and fitness means more to me at this point and booze doesn’t really do anything for me except the mental head game of ā€œI NEED this to relax, I deserve to relax, I work hard and am an adult.ā€ Well I am trying to get past that before my liver tests show damage. Trying to break habits and form new ones. I do enjoy certain strains of pot so maybe I trade an occasional at home drink for my vaporizer instead. Way less impact. I probably only see friends for drinks a couple times a year so that’s no biggie. And holidays with the family. If I could reel it in to those occasions Id be content.

I wish you success in your grasp of your demon. If I/we can be of support please reach out.

@physioLojik - resurrecting an older question/answer - you previously mentioned from my thyroid numbers I’m hypothyroid and suggested 30mg Armour Thyroid.

I talked to my doc about it and asked for 30mgs Armour. He said that was too low for me and would just would end up causing problems… And prescribed 90mgs.

Do you think 90mgs is going to be a big shock to my system? Should I cut them in half to start?

@charlie12 - did you ever try Armour? And if yes, what was your dose if you don’t mind me asking?

You need to start lower. You may end up at 90 or more. But armor contains t3 as well. You can’t take a high dose. Even with t4 only you start low.

You need to dial it in. Labs after 2-3 weeks. My Reading indicates you should be going up 15 to 30 mg at a time.

I was on on 15 mg for 2 to 3 weeks so you can’t go by me I stopped it because of my shoulder pain which was not correct association. I may restart the Armour Thyroid after labs in a few weeks. I’m in no rush because I’m barely hypo

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

You think I can cut these in quarters? Half? And take them without any issues like people do with AIs?

Did anyone try iodine tablets to fix the imbalance? Curious if this works for anyone. I have a very high tsh and no iodine in my diet. I started Tri iodine 12.5 mg and selenium Monday.

Ordered Pregnenalone blood test for tomorrow morning. Need to get to the bottom of my memory issues. I guess I am still slightly foggy as well and motivation/excitement for things has been diminished lately. Still a bit tired in the evening but up at 5a and exhausted by 9p prob not unusual.

Ordered through Ulta Labs which gives discount blood work on Quest Labs tests. Total price = $94 (Usually $128)

Also started taking 3mg Boron daily yesterday as well. I feel like Im taking too many supplements and need to cut some out. Thinking about dropping kelp, ashwagandha, and lecithin at least.
Currently taking:
Boron (3mg)
Ashwagandha (450mg)
Curcumin (950mg)
Optizinc (30mg) (has .3mg copper)
Adam Multivitamin (NOW brand)
CoQ10 (200mg)
Sunflower Lecithin (2400mg)
Selenium (100mcg)
L-Tyrosine (500mg)
Vit D (10,000iu)
Kelp (325mcg)
Magnesium Glycinate (400mg)
GLA oil (480mg)
Cod Liver oil (3g)
aspirin (81mg)
Tudca (250mg Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid)

Current protocol is 60mg t-cyp EOD (210mg weekly). Will be getting 6-7 week blood work in a week or two. Outside of what was mentioned above I have no sides. Fat loss is slow (I should say weight loss) and have started monitoring calories just to get an idea. Four days a week, lifting days, I am at about 2,800-3,000 cals and the other 3, cardio days, Im around 2,000-2,400. I would think that deficit would be enough to drop a couple lbs a week but I am down 3lbs since 1/1/19. And thats with stopping all alcohol too.

Woah on the supplements. But if you are body building I know nothing about that and maybe you need them.

When did you start the glycinate and what time you take. Cause that can make you tired.

Some of your supplements maybe on here it has awesome info on the ones they have listed.

https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/diagnosis-treatment/symptom-management/integrative-medicine/herbs/search

I started taking omperazole for the acid thing and complicated endoscopy and it makes me tired. Actually dream quite a bit since taking them.

BTW you take any other medications?

I take them for health purposes really. Im not sure what a bodybuilder is these days LOL. I lift 4 days a week and try to add LBM and drop fat. Mostly powerlifting moves but ancelarries as well. Not sure what that makes me.

At bedtime.

I will check this out, thanks.

I take allopurinol for uric acid (gout) but thats it.

Even though it says herbs they have minerals in there too and maybe some vitamins.
Most have sides affects.

In my book. The less the better with this.

My policy now is if I don’t want to take for the rest of my life am basically not starting the supplement. Unless it’s for a temporary condition.

For instance coq10 if you take that you really should not stop it. No science but why take it in the first place if you going to stop? And what if there’s a rebound thing if you stop it Esp when much older . who knows how the body will react.

For everyone here’s an example of the write up on vit c. In the website I mentioned. They also have citation to studies.

Further, vitamin C supplementation is associated with increased risk of liver cancer, although this effect is not observed with vitamin C from dietary sources (25).

High-dose vitamin C has been long been used as an alternative cancer treatment (26) based on the hypothesis that the formation of new collagen resists malignant infiltration (27). Early reports using parenteral plus oral ascorbic acid showed promising results (28), but

They have a nice app too. I figure it’s from Sloan Kettering cancer hospital. Should be good info

Forgive me if already stated this, but what are your stats currently at the caloric intake you have listed?

Your style right now, power lifting for strength gains and having a decent caloric intake on lift days, with a deficit on off days, really sounds more like what most builders would do for maintenance. It may explain why you’ve hit a stall point. Imo, for whatever that’s worth, you should run your deficit full time and lift for maintenance (higher reps and just barely to failure on each set) for at least 6-8 weeks to drop fat and try to maintain what mass you have, not really try to build more.

Then you can switch to a slight surplus and, since there won’t be as much fat to work with, your diet and lifting efforts can go into building more mass mostly, which will in turn help to keep the fat off during the bulking period, provided you eat a slight surplus and not a massive one.

It sounds more like you’re kind of in a build then cut cycle several times in a week, and your body is never really responding optimally to either discipline, because it doesn’t have time to shift gears from one mode to another.

Just food for thought.

That is a lot of supplements. I like the CoQ10 codliver and D3 as well as Mag Gly.
anyway subscribing to thread always fun to get to look at new blood tests.
On the foggy, motivation/excitement kind blue do you think it just might be this time of year.
I hate this time of years the last of winter and quite Spring yet cold cloudy rainy all the time its dam depressing.

I’ve recently been reading that when supplementing D3 it is imperative that you also supplement K2. Without it you end up with to much circulating calcium which can wind up in your arteries. Fyi.

How about all those formulas that have both calcium and vit d for bones…

When my d runs out. May get the d with the k. And recommendations anyone. ? I see a bunch on Amazon

Are there any foods that has K2?
I would prefer eating them vs buying another pill.
