I put romo in the same category as Rivers.

QB’s who can play, win games but their decision making will prevent them from ever winning a Super Bowl. Good enough QB’s to contest for the division and a playoff berth more years than not but aren’t going to win you and rings.
Of course.

Like I keep saying he is not elite, but IF you put a team around him he could have a chance.
Actually I’d probably throw Matt Ryan into that category too.

Although I think he’s definitely a better decision maker than Romo and Rivers I forsee a ring less future for Matty Ice. He has the greatest right end to ever play and arguably the best 1-2 receiving punch in the NFL with white and julio yet hasn’t gotten it done. He’s about to lose Gonzalez after this season and White looks past his prime. That window of opportunity is closing fast and the league is pretty stacked with talented Q’s right now.

I like Matt Ryan though.

ah hmmm…

Not looking to count my chickens here, but… You know “da stats” and all that.

Thanks Atlanta, you screwed me out of a possible $1,000 bucks. Fuck!

Not the Ravens. Still tired for the AFC North with like half an offense.

I am going to say Falcons should be the most concerned. The NFC East and the AFC North are so bad the other teams on that list are actually not that far out of it.

At this point it is starting to look like Atlanta’s only hope is the wild card which they need to compete with Seattle/San Fran and the Lions/Bears/Packers for. Sucks for Tony that he came back for this shit.

Hey my team is in basically the same boat. I wasn’t saying you have to apologize or anything, just that there is some seriously upside down shit happening this season(which pretty much happens every season I guess when you really think about it).

Yeah and that Seattle/San Fran is looking like a lock for both so maybe two out of three in the NFC North will have a melt down, which is not unlikely.

For sure. The NFL is a funny league, and the Jets my lose out the season.

I’m just still a little bitter because I understand what you are saying (that oddball things happen when you play once a week in a sport like this) and got lambasted in this thread because I couldn’t back up my hunch with ‘da stats’. All the while I was just playing around and having fun with a hunch, not looking to argue stat nerd style.

Not exactly going out on a limb, but looking at ATL’s remaining schedule I just don’t see how they take that wildcard slot. @GB, vs SEA, @SF, vs NO. Even if they go 2-2 in those games that’s 6 losses, any loss elsewhere is a 9-7 season and that’s not getting this season’s 2nd wildcard I don’t think.

Ya, that was pretty dumb, being a totally biased fanboy homer about your team is part of the glory of sports, fuck anyone trying to shout that shit down because you didn’t research all the metrics. That’s like, 99% of what makes DB’s posts so awesome =p

Yup. It was brutal. I could handle it better if it was a real team, but losing to the jets is flat painful. There was no reason for it really, except we played like crap. Starting 5 rookies, 3 of which are undrafted free agents doesn’t help, but we didn’t execute, period. Defense was terrible in the first half. Special teams, was ugly. Except for Bosher who made two tackles! Props to the kicker.
The fucking jets? Unreal.

Not kicking that field goal at the half looms large.

Will there be 3 NFC South coaches on the hot seat?

Giants, then Falcons, then I’d say it’s a toss between Ravens /Redskins. Giants are 0-5 and are getting murdered in several of those losses. Falcons have been in every game and the problems are fixable, but the mountain to climb is mighty high and without significant and unlikely change, it’s going to get climbed halfway.
Skins have a hurt RG3 and the Ravens have a young inexperienced defense.

All I asked of the Jets is to show me promise, and that they have. I realistically thought they could win anywhere from 5 to 8 games. Mornhinweg has proven what a creative offensive mind can do with limited talent on the offensive end. On the defensive end however, talent is not limited and will be a force to reckon with for years to come, injuries aside. Sheldon Richardson is proving to be an excellent pick, Mo Wilkerson is a legit beast, With Coples, Damario Davis and even Kenrick Ellis showing signs I am very excited about the Jets up front.

Got to like what you see about Smith, strong arm, nice touch, athletic enough to make gains with his feet and seems pretty unflappable. I know there will be bumps in the road, but he seems to ok with the NY Media BS and seems to be a guy we can finally build around. All in all its nice to see a team that I live and die with (sports fan wise) stick it up media pundits and haters asses at least for a week. While I don’t know how many more games they will win, they are not the WORST team in the league like so many Jet haters and talking heads predicted them to be.

As far as Atlanta goes, I fully expected a loss, not Because the Falcons are a great team, but because they had to win, and our secondary with the exception of Cromartie (who should be recognized as one of the best in the league) is pretty susceptible to the pass. I did not expect a blow out and thought a 20 - 10 score would be likely. All in all, Even Rex Ryan was gracious in victory, as was Smith, another thing that will go unnoticed by Jet haters.

Falcons are in the same boat as the Giants. Excellent QB, excellent receivers, poor offensive line, mediocre to poor defense and injuries.

Bring on the Steelers, should be interesting

Yes it does. I don’t know. It’s tough to fire an otherwise successful coach for a bad start. Much depends on what happens the rest of the year. You have to remember that he took this franchise from the dregs of the Patrino nightmare to a winning franchise. And the question always is, replace with whom? We’re a little burned by the college coach thing. We are not rebuilding, we are just playing poorly. I’ll take a change for better, but I don’t know if I am willing to take a chance on ‘the new guy’. If Harbaugh (either one) or Peyton, or Belichick want to come to Atl, I am cool with that.
