No way shape or form Johnny football makes the NFL game
He has a better arm and is more athletic than Geno Smith, EJ Manuel, Cam Newton, Brandon Weeden, Josh Smith, Blain Gabbert… I could go on.
With the way the league is now, it’s designed for a guy like him. He just needs a coach who can reign him in a little bit.
The kid will definitely get a shot in the league.
No. Just dont see it
and who in that group has won a SB?
Until a “mobile” running QB wins the SB I just dont see it.
I mean, if there’s any QB a team is tanking for this season it’s Bridgewater anyway.

That may be so, but the best QB available in the draft is Teddy Bridgewater.

I guess you must have missed the Super Bowls that Steve Young and Brett Favre won.

This upcoming QB class will be pretty stacked with talent.
Bridgwater, Boyd, Manziel, McCarron
There will undoubtedly be a few more names that jump out by the end of the year as well.

I didn’t say he would be winning rings on rings on rings… But he will be a high draft pick and will play.
I’m not a fan of his antics and think his maturity issues will need to be resolved ASAP but the kid can play.

I agree. I guess you can put Steve Young in that category, but that team was just loaded. The best QBs in the league are still pocket passers, Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers. I guess you can say Rodgers is pretty mobile though.

I agree.
Bridgewater and Boyd are studs but it’s a long season.
Geno Smith looked like the greatest thing since sliced bread through 7 or 8 weeks and that didn’t turn out too well for him.
Anyway, projecting college players at the pro level is probably the most difficult task in sports.
They all could be busts… Who knows?

Uh, no. Geno Smith had question marks surrounding him from the start. He looked like the best QB prospect in the draft for most of the year, but in general he never looked like a great QB prospect overall. For most of the year he looked like the best prospect that year, but I don’t recall hearing a single “expert” proclaim him as a can’t-miss prospect, or anything even close, really. If Smith were in the upcoming draft instead of the last one he’d probably be about a 4th rounder. He’s like a poor man’s Byron Leftwich.
LOVE this trade for the Browns. Getting a first round pick for an injury prone, overrated player is a steal by the Browns. They’re actually playing meaningful football now, as in who is the worst team in the league jags v Browns.

Steve Young was mobile yes, BUT he only developed after his better Montana showed him how to work in the pocket.
Favre really?
Dont be difficult DB you know as well as I that both Young and Favre were pass first and scramble QB’s. The new wave of QB is a read option running QB and until they win a SB I will not have faith in them.

I’m not exactly an NFL expert, but the Favre comment had me scratching my head as well.
What app are you guys using that pops updates on your phone? I think I used to use sportscenter but I haven’t used that lately…
TRich is gonna have his work cut out for him with SF this week. I think people would have been surprised by Cleveland this week as Gordon was coming back, TRich, and Cameron were out there but now it’s shit. They are picking up McGahee though (who is a great pass catcher if I recall)

That game last night didn’t mean shit in the grand scheme of things. Anybody can get beat at home and eventually the Niners will wallop Seattle at home. It was the second game of the year. The game on December 8th will be a much bigger game, given the point in the season at which it occurs, and the Niners WILL win that one. The Niners got shellacked last year in Seattle and when all was said and done, Seattle had to sit at home and watch the Niners do what they couldn’t get done. I know a few Seattle fans out here and it never ceases to amaze me how quickly you can tell if a fan roots for a team that has never actually won shit in its history. Those types of fans are the ones popping off about a win in the middle of September. 49ers fans for the most part don’t even give a shit. Since we’ve actually seen what winning, playoff football looks like year in, year out, for more than three decades in a row and not intermittently over the last 8-9 years, we understand that games at this point of the year don’t make a champion out of anyone.
Oh brother.
I just have one question. What color skirt do you squat in?
I was going to respond by pointing out that YOU are one of the people I was referring to, given that you have literally NEVER watched a championship team in Atlanta’s entire 100+ years as a professional sports town, other than one World Series title almost 20 years ago, but then I thought of this GIF instead. I think it sums up my thoughts about Atlanta fans with the gall to say anything negative about the sports franchise that literally every pro team in Atlanta wishes they were like.
Yawn.
You talk too much I can’t be bothered to read all that shit…

I guess the new management in Cleveland wanted nothing to do with him?
As a fan of a bridesmaid franchise I do feel bad for the browns, the wait until next year mantra just sucks for a sports fan, because you say that shit all to often
Clearly they are playing for the draft next year, Clowny and Manziel 1 & 2 I figure. Good news for other teams who play them, the Browns want to suck, so you can count on a win pretty much.

Why do you say that? I am just curious what you think… Manziel is obviously extremely talented. He’s immature, but that will just come along with age.
To me it comes down to body size, arm strength and between the ears.
Manziel has one of the three.
Did anyone think Joe Flacco coming out of Delaware of all places would do what he did?
Well Ozzy Newsome did, cause Joe has the three above.
Big Ben, from Miami of Ohio for fucks sake was a out of nowhere, now between the ears was a little shaky but he has the other two in spades.
Someone will take a chance on Manzeil hell its the NFL jobs are on the line, but I will state it now that he will be a bust. Just like Tebow.
What’s your take on Russell Wilson’s success so far Derek? Seems like he has 2 out of the 3 qualities you mention, but can a guy that short really succeed long term in the NFL? (I agree with your take on Manziel btw.)
