I don’t understand the Bradshaw pick, though. All of the other great QBs mentioned thus far were the driving force on their teams. But Bradshaw played second fiddle to that defense his whole career. I think that makes him a special case compared to other QBs with 2+ rings.
On Mike and Mike Bradshaw even admitted that despite his four rings he isn’t even in the top 5 quarterbacks of all time.
I mean, I hear you guys, and I’m not saying my opinion is gold, but I put Bradshaw and Montana in the top class, Brady a distant third, and Aikman/Manning giving him a flat tire.

The reason I put Bradshaw there is because 4 rings is hard to discount, irrelevant of the team around you. You’re still the leader on offense and have to have your shit together to win 4 damn times.

Fair points for those that don’t think he belongs, but I do is all.
a “great” qb is why the broncos won the SB! wait a sec…
I was a cowboy fan when Bradshaw had his run. I hated the steelers and thought TB was the best qb there was. then came Montana, another winner. neither were my teams but I give credit where credit is due. people always put down winners when it isn’t their team.
a few “great” qb’s that didn’t or haven’t yet won a sb-Dan Marino, John Hadl, Ken Anderson, Steve McNair, Fran Tarkenton, Tony Romo, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Philip Rivers, Donovan McNabb, Matt Ryan.

now it’s almost time for the 2014 free agent/draft thread to start!
The fact that you put Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Steve McNair, and Donovan McNabb in the same category as Kelly, Marino, and Tarkenton raises some serious credibility issues for you.
I don’t consider them great but these names always seem to pop up when discussing so called “Great” qbs. they all have something in common, no SB ring. 2nd place is the 1st loser.
Russel Wilson may never be called a “Great” qb but he’s got the ring.

Coaches won’t like it but I think it’s long overdue.

Fuck that. The NFL is damn near perfect. Don’t go screwing with things just to be screwing with them.

I posted something to that effect earlier. However, a 42 yd extra point does sound intriguing without screwing up the game that much.
I don’t think anything necessarily NEEDS to be changed but I certainly wouldn’t mind a more difficult XP than just a chip shot

if they’re going to change the pat make it worth more the further away the kick. 35+ 2pts 42+ 3pts
they also need to bring back the block and runback to score but make it worth 4pts so they really get after it.

So Denver, on paper, is really setting up their defense. They are going for gold with Ware, Talib, and Ward…

I like the signing of Andre Roberts. Get a WR1 in the draft. With Garcon as WR2 and Roberts in the slot we are pretty stocked. Now that secondary needs a serious look

Doesn’t matter, Denver will put up record #'s and lose in the playoffs again.

I’m calling that Manning doesn’t play the full season due to his neck

Von Miller and D Ware on the same D

If they stay healthy that could be interesting.

How do you feel about losing him? I know the cap space was horrible but he is a big blow I would think. His health definitely is starting to deteriorate but he is sort of the face for Dallas. If Tuck or Cole were to leave their homes it would feel really odd to me as well.

Mixed. Honestly the last two years his inability to do anything but rush the passer has been a mixed blessing. He runs up the field and causes an open lane for the running game.

Is he damaged goods now?

Yeah I hope so but they’re going all out.

The Chiefs have decided to take an ironic approach to free agency this year. Hello Jeff Linkenback and Joe Mays. Denver and San Diego must be terrified.

Well I’m looking forward to hearing how Denver is going to be undefeated next season, it seems from what I’ve watched that they are already in the AFC championship game.

What’s funny is that their defense really wasn’t that bad in the playoffs. In fact it was good against the Chargers and Pats. Their problem will be their soft offense. If they have to go up against a team like the Seahawks or Niners, they will get pushed around again. Elway is really putting all his eggs in one basket. If they don’t win a Super Bowl in the next two years it will be a complete failure.

On another note, I like the signing of Donald Brown by the Chargers. We now have a good three headed monster at RB. Too bad the defense will still be bad. Here’s hoping to some good players coming out of the draft for them.

Haha, you guys don’t have to splurge on a bunch of free agents. Here’s hoping we both can at least beat the Broncos once next year.
