And the only reason I put him a half step in front of Aikman, is because of Emmitt & that Oline. God damn was that Dallas team a dominant force.
Yes Goddamnit they were.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH JJ why wont you die
I’m willing to bet he will cryogenically preserve himself so he’s never really gonna be dead in a way. Yippee for you lol.

I don’t understand the Bradshaw pick, though. All of the other great QBs mentioned thus far were the driving force on their teams. But Bradshaw played second fiddle to that defense his whole career. I think that makes him a special case compared to other QBs with 2+ rings.
On Mike and Mike Bradshaw even admitted that despite his four rings he isn’t even in the top 5 quarterbacks of all time.
I mean, I hear you guys, and I’m not saying my opinion is gold, but I put Bradshaw and Montana in the top class, Brady a distant third, and Aikman/Manning giving him a flat tire.

The reason I put Bradshaw there is because 4 rings is hard to discount, irrelevant of the team around you. You’re still the leader on offense and have to have your shit together to win 4 damn times.

Fair points for those that don’t think he belongs, but I do is all.
a “great” qb is why the broncos won the SB! wait a sec…
I was a cowboy fan when Bradshaw had his run. I hated the steelers and thought TB was the best qb there was. then came Montana, another winner. neither were my teams but I give credit where credit is due. people always put down winners when it isn’t their team.
a few “great” qb’s that didn’t or haven’t yet won a sb-Dan Marino, John Hadl, Ken Anderson, Steve McNair, Fran Tarkenton, Tony Romo, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Philip Rivers, Donovan McNabb, Matt Ryan.

now it’s almost time for the 2014 free agent/draft thread to start!

I am glad CBS replaced Shannon Sharpe and Marino with Tony Gonzalez. I did not watch more than 5 minutes of CBS’s pregame show last year. Fox’s pregame is so much better. This might give CBS some viewers.

The fact that you put Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Steve McNair, and Donovan McNabb in the same category as Kelly, Marino, and Tarkenton raises some serious credibility issues for you.

Shannon Sharpe was HORRIBLE. Loud and boisterous for no particular reason and very rarely had anything of value to say. Marino was just there. Tony should be good.

Admittedly I didn’t watch much pregame this year or even much SportsCenter due to time constraints.

I was always amazed at the stark difference in diction of Sterling vs Shannon Sharpe.

What do you guys think of Mike Evans out of Texas A&M? He looks to me like the type of receiver a team with some picks to trade should look into trading up to draft. The only knock on him has been his speed, but he looks like a guy who has deceptive speed. He takes those long strides and I think he gets up on guys much quicker than they anticipate as a result. It seems like half of his highlight plays he’s beaten a corner or a safety deep and got behind them, something he shouldn’t be able to do in the SEC if his speed is a question mark.

He obviously has the size and has shown the ability to go up and get the ball in traffic. He has good hands and pretty good ability with the ball in his hands in the open field.

I think he’s going to prove to be the best receiver in the draft. I know that isn’t saying much since he’s already the consensus second-best receiver this year. But I think he’ll be a legit perennial Pro Bowler.

I’d like to see the Niners make a move to get him. They have the picks to do so and still have enough left over to acquire depth at a thin position, cornerback and possibly strong safety if Hitner doesn’t re-sign. It’s a deep draft for corners, and I don’t think a whole lot separates the top corner from the 7th or 8th corner.

I would be very happy for the Jets to Get Evans or Ebron with their pick

I wouldn’t be happy

I would say Evans is probably 2nd in my eyes. Top 4 wide receivers in this draft is a toss up between Watkins, Lee, Benjamin, and Evans.

Benjamin and Evans obviously have the size advantage. Evans also has the great ability to go after the ball (kind of have to with Johnny Throw the Ball Up as your QB). Fights hard and as DB said has some deceptive speed to him.

x2 on the sharp brother’s, some talented players but horrid sport commentator’s. The hall of fame induction speech was the worst and dragged on for ever. Jets definitely need to get some receivers this time around.

Lol the avg receiver height for the Jets is 4’11" and looks like we are gonna sign another little guy in Sanders…Geno needs a BIG receiver

I have seen some say that y’all might go for Beckham or even Lee (if he is still on the board). Neither are big guys (6’ 195 lbs) but are better than the shit y’all are working with now.

I will say there is one thing we will agree on and that is that I hope the Bills don’t end up with Sammy Watkins.

Totally agreed.

I would like ideally and really possibly

Maclin / Sanders / Ebron (or Edelman but do not think its likely)

I’m hoping the bills draft Khalil Mack if he’s still available at 9. If he’s not they should trade down a bit. With a few tweaks, that defense could be the best in the AFC (assuming they pay Byrd like they should). They need to get the best outside linebacker that they can, and than they need offensive lineman to make holes for Spiller, and Jackson. They might not have any big receivers, but Stevie Johnson isn’t bad (although he certainly is over paid), Robert Woods is pretty good, and Marquis Goodwin still has huge potential. These guys are more than adequate for what should be a run first offense.

Its too soon to talk draft. Isn’t everybody else still basking in the glow of a Superbowl win?

Sanders will break your heart dude. He seems to find the worst times to drop passes. Not really a “makes the tough ones and drops the easy ones” but in a really big situation he fucks up more often than not. Tough little fucker though.

It’s Combine weekend. Time to watch Offensive Lineman run the 40.

Its an enormous and glorious event–kind of like a total solar eclipse–that comes around once every 40 years or so if you live in Seattle.

Here’s hoping the Chargers get another draft steal like they did with Keenan Allen.
