NFL 2012 Part 2

Pretty much… for 15 seconds, I was panicking. I knew if we would pass down the middle we could get into field goal range pretty quick. I think 15 seconds was a record of some kind.

I was crushed at how easily Seattle gave up those chunks of yards, after such an epic comeback.

SF vs Atlanta should be a great game.

We just beat the team that beat the shit out of them. If you break the game down by the numbers, Atlanta took Seattle totally out of their game, they have been averaging 40+ points per game the past 8, we held them to 28. The #1 defense in the league, who has been giving up an average of 14 points per game, gave up 30 to us.

Before you get all high and mighty, realize that the two teams that utterly destroyed San Fran, we beat. We shut out the Giants, and we beat the Seahawks, the hottest team in the league going in.
Don’t think I disrespect the 49er’s by any stretch, but don’t be disrespecting the Falcon’s, we’ve been doing it all year and we just beat the team that had the best chance at running the table. It wasn’t pretty, we’re not pretty, but it wasn’t lucky either. We’ve done those sub- 1 minute game winning drives 7 times this year.

Ya I agree with you on both topics. Brooks is a great LB. Would love to have him in GB. [/quote]

The avatar, it burns…LOL! What bet did you lose, that’s horrible!

I’ll hold down the fort for you at the Dome… That place flat fucking exploded when that kick went threw.
I was watching Carrol on the sideline with the ref when he was trying to ice Bryant. That was totally expected. I like how he was asking who the hell called the time out after.

Sherman can totally lick my balls too. Cry baby, pussy.

You misunderestimate me… I had a blast, I was totally exhausted after the game… Can’t wait till next weekend, tickets are in hand!!!

Again, I ain’t talking no shit, and I ain’t bettin’ shit. I’ll talk the game, but considering the avatars I see these days, I know what betting will get you…

I admit styles in the NFL aren’t as easy to assess as the example above but I think the Niners will either crush Atlanta or it will be a close game. I doubt Atlanta is going to have their way with the Niners. Niners most likely take this. Personally I think they should be happy they have Atlanta on the road instead of Seattle at home.

I’ll bet you an avatar that you’re wrong…

The Niners are going to flat out smash the little birdies. Atlanta has looked horrible against the read option all year and they’ve barely seen any of the pistol formation, let alone the sheer amount of different shit the 49ers run out of it. That is one TOUGH offense to prepare if you aren’t familiar with it. They’re going to need a whole half just to adjust to the speed and variety that the Niners are going to throw at them, and by that time the biggest, dirtiest, nastiest offensive line in football will have worn down the little birdies and they’ll just start smashing motherfuckers left and right with Gore the Running Back Gopher gaining big chunks of yardage all fourth quarter.

By the time Atlanta figures out what hit 'em it’s going to be out of hand in favor of the Niners. All the game planning in the world can’t prepare you for a physically-superior team, and that’s what the Niners are: bigger, stronger, faster at pretty much every position other than WR.

Your team is fucked. The rematch of the 98 Championship Game is going to go much better for the Niners than it did last time down there. Gore isn’t going to snap his fucking leg in half on the first play from scrimmage like Garrison Hearst did.

49ers looked damn impressive in that Green Bay game. I was a little shocked. I would be surprised if they don’t win the Super Bowl, or at least lose within a few points. Kaepernick played like a beast. He was the answer to the problems they were having.

Sigh…the Packer/SF game. Your Falcons better rape those pos. I mean the big black dick in prison from a guy named Bubba type of rape.

Hold up, Megatron wasn’t a unanimous selection for 1st team AP? Whichever writer didn’t vote for him needs to be fired. I know fans say stuff like that all the time as hyperbole, but this time it really needs to happen. What the fuck is the thought process to not vote him there?

“Well, Detroit did throw the ball a whole lot, so when you really think about it beating a record set by Jerry Rice and approaching the unheard of plateau of 2000 yards receiving isn’t that impressive. Clearly it’s his fault his team sucked ass, 2nd team it is.”

Agree. He is one of the top WRs and athletes of all time. With breaking Rice’s record this season, being 1st should have been a no brainer.

What do you guys think of this scenario? Vernon Davis should drop about 10lbs this offseason, hit the fuck out of the Jugs machine and transition to WR next year.

The reason I say he should do this is simple: he has hands of fucking stone and he simply doesn’t handle the velocity that Kaepernick puts on the ball. As a TE, even one that can stretch the field better than pretty much any other TE out there, he still has to catch a lot of passes that are shorter routes. He doesn’t handle those sorts of throws well since they’re getting on him quickly. But as a wideout, he can catch more balls that are thrown over his shoulder, like that one Kaepernick threw to him in the second half and a lot of the ones he was catching from Smith in last year’s playoffs.

He has the speed to run with most CBs, and if he drops 10lbs I could easily envision him gaining a little bit more speed, and perhaps a little more agility as well. Plus, imagine motioning him into the backfield in the pistol formation the Niners are undoubtedly going to be using a lot of next year. I don’t think losing that weight will affect his blocking abilities that much, so he’d still remain dangerous as both a run blocker AND as a guy who can leak out of the backfield on those plays and get matched up against a 'backer or a safety.

Sounds kind of convoluted, I know, but I was just thinking that with all the bigger TEs these days he’s actually quite undersized at the position compared to where the position is evolving to. He’s about 6’3" and 240lbs (he’s listed at 250, but I think that might be a bit generous). Imagine a faster Vernon Davis at 6’3" 235 or so split out wide against CBs and safeties! Plus, the Niners need some WR help for next year, assuming Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham don’t come back at full strength for the start of next season. I don’t know what they’d do about TE since Delanie Walker probably won’t be back next year, but there’s some big, tall, athletic TEs available in the draft this year (I really like local kid Ryan Otten out of San Jose State and this Fauria kid out of UCLA. Both are about 6’6" and have good hands).

Oh Paaaaat? How nervous are you about this weekend’s game? Have you already decided what sort of booze you’re going to drown your sorrows in? Do you realize how much faster Kaepernick is going to be on that turf than he was on the Candlestick grass?

I think the matchups are pretty close all around, except for one VERY key area: the line of scrimmage. The Niners are going to control it on both sides of the ball all afternoon. As we all know, whoever controls the line of scrimmage, especially when you can run and also stop the opponent’s run, virtually ALWAYS wins the game.

How are the Birdies going to plan for this? Are they going to send the Dawsonville chapter of the Hell’s Angels to the team hotel the night before the game? I don’t even think that would work. I like Justin Smith and Mike Iupati’s chances against any Hell’s Angels member any day of the week, motorcycle chains and all.

Here’s a perfect article that explains why they play the game and that all these advanced statistical analyses of the game don’t mean a thing. I wish that sabermetric freak, RajRaj, would read this. The comments section is hysterical.

Another very interesting article. This one is about the most historic football stadium in the history of the NFL.

This is EXACTELY the attitude I hope the 49er’s have. I really hope they don’t take Atlanta seriously.

Looks like McCoy will be HC for San Diego. Thoughts Strungoutboy?
