What did you have done? I still have complications from mine.
Micro discectomy @ L5-S1 with a partial lamenotomy to relieve a herniated disc
30 days no bending, lifting or twitsting

You will heal my friend, be patient. DO NOT let them talk you into a fusion if you ever get another injury.
What happened to me would be the case no matter what. He had to cut through my rather large lumbar muscle and I wonder if he didn’t pulverize it trying to get through. He said it was really tough.
I am a PA, Pat, I have had a 3 disc herniation in my Lumbar from squating back when I was 30, they wanted to do a 3 level fusion on me. I have friends that are ortho Dr’s and I have been in the medical field for 20 years.
I always tell my patients you do not go for the fusion unless you are in intractable pain and are shitting and pissing yourself.
Thanks for the encouragement, I did this lifting a patient, albeit a little dude only like 140#'s but it was enough.
The doc was really confident that he got it and I shouldn’t have a reccurance so long as I make my “core” which I thought was strong even stronger.
Yep and drop weight. We all want to be mass monsters, but I have less problems with my back when I get below 225. There are some benefits for having ripped abz
Good luck and hope you rehab. Was it covered on Workers Comp?
I’ve never been a big fan of carrying alot of weight (it makes the job harder than it needs to be). But it was an eye opener for my core strength, translation if you think you have a strong core then you need to do some more work on it.
Yep all covered by workmans comp, I’ve got an aggresive doc right now who wants to send me back for light duty and start PT @ 2 weeks out. Luckily my surgeon showed him yesterday who was still in charge of my care and told him to STFU!
lol and I agree about the weight for what you do, not many pro BBrs doing firefighting or EMS.
