NFL 2011 Offseason

admittedly I dont know much about college football, so does anyone know anything about JJ Watt a DE out of Winsconsin? There has been talk that if available the Jets may take him. Has anyone seen him play? From what I have read, hes one of those %100 all of the time type guys and uses great technique to make up for elite athleticism…again why football always delivers year round…always something to talk about.

Oh and I said it towards the end of the last thread, I LOVE that it looks like the Jets are gonna leave cromartie out in the cold. He is a talented player who played well, but hes such a dick, that it was tough rooting for him. It looks like theres a chance they may be able to resign the trifecta of guys that I wanted them to (Homes, Edwards and Harris) the proof will be in the pudding so to speak if players reaaaalllly love playing for Ryan.

Fuck that how about full on contraction! with all contracted teams playing each other and the winner of this shit league slowly returns to the NFL

What they need to do is tighting the Salary cap, which is in the discussion. Raise the floor and lower the ceiling. Currently it is at 135 million and 110 million.

If they start a rookie salary cap then they will have extra money, well if you raise the floor to say 120 million and the leave the ceiling then sucky teams have no choice but to get better.

You got to remember also there are teams that have missed on 1st round draft picks. Example the Jets Matty with Gholston, what if they had missed on Sanchize? Dude that sets you back years ask WC with the QB or the Raiders with Russell.

if gholston panned out, man, MAN, that would of changed things drastically. I see a BB future for him very soon.

Matty I said it last year if you dont remember if he wants to play the 5 technique then he needs to gain about 50 lbs. He wants to look great coming off the bus, that doesnt win games or a spot in the NFL.

A rookie wage scale would help out the first round QBs too. Teams pay them so much now that they feel pressured to put them in and they don’t let them develop, which I think has kept some guys from succeeding.

Agreed, but lack of heart and aggression seem to be missing too

100% true, but did you really have to rub it in?

They’re really in love w/Phil Taylor out of Baylor. The way Jenks has been the last 2 seasons. 7 games played only. Has a tendency to drop out for a play or 2 but hopefully Rex can cure that.

Steelers tagged LaMarr Woodley. Good, very good.

Timmons is next but that will have to wait another year, nothing but upside for that guy.

Somehow(not because of injury) Pittsburgh needs to see what Worilds can do at OLB, problem is how can a guy crack that starting line-up.

Steelnation: It sucked that Gibson was cut but I think it was to make room for Adams. Also good news that Kevin Butler is staying…fuck you Cardinals lol.

Sorry man that was not my intention. Dallas was in QB hell for a long time after Aikman.

For some reason it irks me that this thread isn’t called “NFL X 6”. Come on man.

Just read this and I don’t know what to think:

“I’m not going to hide my feelings” Harbaugh added. “I like Alex Smith, I like him as a football player, as a person and he’ll make the best decision for him. Some people say Alex Smith needs a fresh start or needs a new place to be or whatever. I say let that place be here.”

You can be on the side of caution, but I suggest you embrace it. Harbaugh knows what he is doing. Maybe Alex CAN be the man.

This statement defies all logic. Harbaugh would be godly if he could make any such thing a reality.

I don’t have anything against Smith, he’s an intelligent, well mannered individual. It just hasn’t worked out here though, and I think it would just be best if he tried to fit in somewhere else.

^I don’t think you have to be considered Godly if you’re putting your QB in the rt system. Smith was incredibly successful at Utah. It’s not like he forgot how to be a QB. All I’m saying, is give him one yr under Jimmy & see if he produces. It might help if Frank could pull his wt too. Where has he been the last 2yrs? Maybe he’'s been big, just under the radar?

^ I agree, I think we fall into the trap sometimes of always blaming the QB. Are his WR running the correct routes is his line blocking like they are supposed to. Is the scheme fucking stupid that they are running. Are they not running an offense that is productive for that type of QB.

WC what real options does he have also? If the CBA does not get done then no trades, there really is not a QB in the draft that blows my skirt up. I would probably make the same choice. Did Alex Smith really lose games for 49rs last year? I dont know didnt watch that many.
