last i heard about the CBA deal is that the players union is going to decertify which due to some big legal terms will then allow the players to sue the owners. more big words i dont understand and then says the owners will be pressured by being sued. the players think they have a better case so want this tried in the court of law. my thinking is they think the public or whomever is in charge of the case will side with them, regardless of what is said by the owners.
^ I will say that the CBA proposed by the players union had a rookie salary cap. That is a good thing.
NO more J Russells and R Leaf’s.
yeah it was getting ridiculous especially with these 1st rounders making more than seasoned vets who have proven themselves.
49ers need to take Peterson or Von Miller. It’s that simple.
I know I was against it at first, but I’m warming to the idea of Carson Palmer, and maybe drafting Ponder in the 2nd round.
^Heard Schefter say this morning that SF is one of the destinations, but so is Az. & Sea… The killer is you’re going to have to give up your 1st round pick according to what Marv & the boys want in return. I do not think that Palmer is worth a 1st.

Unless Palmer retires and then comes out of retirement X number of days later. Wouldnt he be a unrestriced FA? Do not know for sure but if they bring him in after the first game he would be free from contract with Cincy.

Sacrifice a goat, pray to whatever God, that he is available at #9.
I plan on kidnapping a half dozen virgins to ritually sacrifice so he will be there at #9.
Cool between the both of us, we can do this.
I dont know who else in the top 8 need would need a CB/Safety. I think it will all hinge on Buffalo at #3, hopefully there is a run on QB’s and DL.
If Peterson’s there at 7 and Von Miller is gone, 49ers take him and cut Nate Clements (or re-sign him for less money). They’d love the leverage to not pay him $8mil this year.
I would love to see the Steelers draft Greg LLoyd’s son just for the fuck of it lol. If he’s half as nasty as his father the fans will love him, me included.
49 reps @225…gott in himmel!
I really like those ghost/shaded players for the forty yard dash for comparing times.

I finished last night watching the LB’s and still have to watch the DB’s tonight.
But as soon as I saw Lloyd I thought of you BJB, I knew you would want to draft this guy.
That would be awesome if the Steelers drafted Lloyd. DJ, enjoy the DBs, I always enjoy dbs and lbs at the combine the most
Just not enough hours in the day. LB’s and DL are always my favorite. DB’s if it is a good class are fun to watch.

You know it lol!
Hine’s Ward on dancing with the stars, WTF? He must be bored out of his mind to do that show.
Rich Eisen doing the forty yard dash on NFL network is hilarious. I shudder to think of my own forty time.
At least he had track shoes on this year, I saw live the first year he did it in dress shoes and pulled a hammy.
Didnt get to watch the Db’s last night, watched a movie with the wife instead.
I have a question…
The Eagles signed Vick to a 1 year deal. Assuming come midnight an agreement isn’t reached, Vick doesn’t see any of that money until a new agreement is made, right? And isn’t it possible that a new CBA would change the amount he is going to be paid anyway?
Was this move made with the assumption that when the new CBA is finally reached franchise tags will be done away with which would leave Vick open to free agency?
Is this all just basically saying that both parties agree that, when the dust clears, Vick will be an Eagle next year with salary to be determined as the new CBA dictates?
I’m so very confused by all this.

His rights are under contract with the Eagles, with CBA done no matter what the agreement he still gets paid the agreed contract amount for thi year.
Old CBA the next year the Eagles would have to pay him 110 or 120% of this years deal because he signed the franchise tag.
There will be franchize tags in the new deal no matter what. NFL PA does not really have a beef with the tags and the owners by evidence of placing them still want them.
Vick will be an Eagle and his contract money is set, by him signing the Tender like I said if they want to sign him the following year he gets more money. So basically Vick will be an Eagle barring injury for the rest of his career.

I don’t understand what you mean by “110%-120% the agreed contract for this year”?
He made $3.75 in the 10/11 season. But from what I read, he now stands to make about $16 (the average salary of the top 5 QBs in the league). But that amount is subject to change based on potential changes to the franchise tag provisions in the new CBA anyway, right? Would the 110%-120% be what he would have made had he not signed his tender?
Sorry to be a pest. I realize this is not a major issue given everything else going on today, but this is at least a concrete example I might be able to wrap my head around.
Thanks.

No I love talking football.
Okay say I QB gets the franchize tag and he signs for $10 million in 2010. Now in 2011 the 1 year contract is done. He can be re-franchized for another year at 110 or 120% of the 10 million, I cant remember exact amount. Or he gets a new long term contract and has to be paid the comparible to the top 5 players at that position.
So 2010- $10 million
2011 either long term deal compared to 5 top QB’s in league or re-franchize for $11-12 million for the year.

OK, so in Vick’s case he will probably end up signing a longer deal next year anyway so it really won’t make a difference, right?
I have a bad habit of getting caught up in minutiae. I suppose that’s why I love baseball where you can over analyze every single pitch in a game.
Thanks again!!

No worries. Vick needs and wants a long term deal, however the longer he waits the better for himself and his backruptcy order. So he may actually sign again a franchize tag next year just to keep the % down on what he can actually pay. Strangely enough he owes the owner of the Falcons like 21 million, if I remember correctly he will end up paying less if he makes less over the next 2 years. After that he will want big money. He is not going anywhere honestly unless he gets hurt.
