New Years Eve Rant

So me and my buds all go to this bar, which will remain nameless for now, in Milwaukee for New Years. We paid $75 last month for the following:

Admission to the Party
VIP treatment (no waiting in line, etc)
All inclusive drinks and food
Champaign toast at midnight

what we got was admission (after waiting in line for 40 minutes) and drinks and a BS buffet they had set up. We coulda paid $20 for the cover and gotten the same deal, minus the free drinks. And I did not have $55 worth of drinks, nor did any of my friends (In Milwaukee, a beer costs $3-$5.)

We’re all a little pissed cause they marketed it as a VIP party. Get our tickets early otherwise you can’t go. Promised us they were closing sales before the bar reached capacity.

What it ended up being was a joke. No VIP treatment, they closed a whole floor of the place for a private party, and they packed so many people in there you couldnt move. It was like being in a mosh pit. Not what any of us expected for $75.

Anyways, we’re planning on calling them and asking for a refund, or we are gonna go to the local media with what happened. Everyone was pretty pissed. They completely oversold and underdelivered on what was promised. Plus I had to buy a new suit to meet the dress code.

rant off

You could each have spent the $75 on booze and food, thrown a party at someone’s house, had a $2 cover charge and dollar beers with ladies drink free and made some money instead. And most likely gotten laid to boot.

For shame, young man. For shame.

Lol. Not really too much into the house party scene anymore. Maybe when I was a younger man. We wanted to find a cool place to bring in the New Year, thought this would be it.

Besides, Im guessing my wife wouldn’t have been too thrilled if I’d have hooked up with some random chick.

Come on, you can name the place.

I usually avoid New Year’s package deals that include meals. Most places just don’t live up. Besides, if you’re just looking to get out and drink, any decent bar will have good drink specials.

Wow $3 for a drink is crazy. A beer in a club cost about $7-$11 here, its a fucking joke.

Sounds pretty shitty but can’t say I’m suprised. The club owner probably doesn’t really care, he knows the night would be big and why limit the number of people that get in? Its all about the profit.

Still, get your money back if you can.

In other news, water is wet.

Take it as a learning experience and avoid the club parties, unless you have the scratch to buy out the whole joint yourself.

Overselling tickets for clubs/parties/discos is common all around the world I guess for new years eve.
I think it’s just a factor of offer/demand.
During this night there’s so much demand that owners feel free to treat customers like shit…

THAT.SUCKS.

I don’t blame you for being pissed, but it’s a common practice by bar/clubs, because it’s quick money. You got raped.

You and your friends are probably thinking how good it’s going to be, and you planned ahead…etc. then it turned out like it did. How disappointing.

Continue with what you had planned, ie, asking for a refund or seeking another avenue like the media if necessary. Don’t let pieces of shit take advantage of you and everyone else just so they can make money.

For new years, 40 of us got together put 30 pounds each (50 dollars?) and bought SO much drink and went out into a barn for the night

No idiots, no queues, no nothing highly reccomend it

Yeah, I’d be pissed too.

It is New Years though and the bars get away with this stuff. Its just a way for them to make money.

I went to a place that had no cover and $4.50 drinks. Nice and cheap.

Take it as a learning experience.

Thats usually the case with almost every “club party”. The pubs and smaller places seem to have the best new years parties from time to time. House parties are where its at though, because where I live you will freeze to death (not joking) waiting for a cab after the bar.

(I spent the night with some good friends, as well as my girlfriend. Just partied at home, had some champagne, and beer.)

Because hooking up with random chicks never happens at club parties?

Well it never happens when I go to them. Then again, it doesn’t happen when I got to house parties either.

bar prices are cheaper than club prices. a club will charge you 10 bucks for a drink and itll be iced down as fuck.

bars differ on their quality/prices of drinks but ive never paid more than $5 for a Guiness at any bar including a bar on Boylston St, Boston and while i dont drink bud lite or any of that crap when im out they usually run at about 3 bucks for a draft pint.
