New to Test and No Gains so Far ?

I’ve been training hard and heavy with weights for 15 years and have never used anything other than creatine and protein as supplementation.

for the last 10 years my body has been exactly the same. I decided I wanna pack on a few more pounds of muscle so at the ripe old age of 39 decided to try a bit of Test.
I am in my 4th week of Depo Test. I have been injecting 300mg per week plus taking a 1/4 pill of arimidex every day.

So far I have had absolutely no gains what so ever. I appear a bit harder and have gained a tiny amount of strength but my weight has not changed.
I am 6 foot tall, weigh 208 pounds and consume somewhere around 3500 - 4000 calories a day. I eat very clean and make sure I consume around 2grams of protein per pound of body weight every day.

My goal is to pack on about 10 - 15 pounds of lean mass. I would have thought by now I should be seeing some results ? Am I not using enough of the stuff ? I didnt want to use to much because I dont particularly wanna get too massive right away.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You must look pretty good after 15 years of lifting! Why don’t you throw in a pic or post a routine so we know what you’ve been doing?

your test dose is kinda low man. 500mg a weeks is the standard for a first cycle

Two things I noticed:

3500-4000 calories is basically a maintenance diet for you if you live any sort of active lifestyle. I would try upping you kcal’s by a minimum of 500.

300mg/wk is low in my opinion, and given the 300mg/wk your blood levels would look like if you were not breaking the dosages up over multiple injections per week, or ramping up dosages.
Day 1 - 300
Day 6 - 150
Day 7 - 450
Day 13 - 225
Day 14 - 525
Day 20 - 262.5
and it goes on.

So you can see even at the end of the third week, and going into the fourth week your test stasis isn’t at the 300mg you desire (which is why some people choose to frontload). Fouth and fifth week your blood levels should start to level out and you will begin to notice the changes more.

I did notice there was no mention of cycle length or PCT. What are your plans for that?

post your training routine and cycle schedule

Thanks for the response.

I see what you are saying about the blood work.
So it would be more beneficial for me to inject twice a week then ?

I was planning on using TEST for about 8 - 10 weeks initially, just until I reached my desired goal.
For PCT I was planning to throw in 50mg of clomid somewhere around the end of my cycle and stay on it for about 3 weeks after.

Am I wasting my time with 300mg per week ?
I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading and apparently people using 500mg for the first time expect to pack on about 20 - 40 lbs which is more than I want.

Thanks

Just throwin a SERM in “somewhere around the end of a cycle” is definitely a good idea…you clearly have thought through this and researched proper cycles and protocols…nicely done

How can someone who has been training for 15 years not have a general understanding of nutrition? You cannot just put some chemical in your body and, poof, gain 20-40 pounds. THere is a huge difference between compounds and their effects, I would highly recommend you do a lot of research as fast as possible of test. I would start by reading the stickies on cycling for newbies and pct basics, they were put there for just such a reason.
