I’m kind of a root beer-a-holic. It is the one vice that I consistently have in an otherwise pretty good eating plan. I take my root beer fairly seriously(none of that cheap barqs/mug crap). But, I don’t really use Surge, I can’t justify the price to consistently be using it as a supplement.
However, I do consistently use Metabolic Drive as a supplement, and would absolutely love to see a root beer flavor done there(orange and banana sound gross).
Maybe I should just start mixing my root beer with Metabolic Drive for a poor man’s Surge(I usually only drink root beer made with real sugar vs. HFCS)
With the Root Beer flavor it was going to be a hit or miss, and I’m going to go with a miss on this one. The flavor just isn’t there, it’s kinda bitter but other than that tasteless.
I also noticed that it has a few less grams of protein than the chocolate and a few more carbs.
I LOVE the chocolate so I’m going to stick with that one. Good flavor idea, but needs some work IMO.
Btw I wasn’t expecting a real root beer taste but with 50grams of carbs to work with the taste I was expecting something sweeter and with a little bit more flavor.
Is there anyone who has both the vanilla and root beer flavors, and has mixed them? Logically, sounds like it’d taste pretty good. But I’ve not tried either, so I can’t really say for certain.
Mr. Clean, you’re right. I forgot that I still have the old formula for Original and Wild Raspberry. So I’m used to Surge being sweeter, but even if it tastes like water I’d still drink it.
D’oh, I just realized that I could’ve used two servings (and thus two scoops each) yesterday, which was my refeeding day. Patience. Yes, patience…
I tried it for the first time tonight and was very pleased with the taste. I have been using the Original exclusively for over a year now so this is a nice change of pace. I think everyone was expecting it to taste like soda which is obviously silly. I think it tastes about as good as you could make it with this flavor and will be buying it in the future. It also has 0 grams of fat and 6 more grams of protein per serving than original so that is a plus.
The fact when mixed it had a root beerish color as well was cool.

Yes. I tried mixing them specifically because of your post, and it tastes good.
That’s the only way I can drink the Root Beer flavor. I don’t care for it alone.
Haven’t tried the chocolate yet, but it’s waiting.
Next time I’m ordering original, since it’s seems to be preferred. I’ve never tried it.
Anyone mix Chocolate and Root Beer, or the Original and Root Beer?? I’ll be doing all the mixing/combining when I get my tub of Root Beer for you guys. I’ll have to try Chocolate plus Original tomorrow.
I like the taste of root beer, so the new flavor is pretty good to me. I still like chocolate the best overall, followed by the original flavor. I’m going to try mixing vanilla with root beer until my vanilla is all gone
New Rule - The Original shall never mix with Chocolate. These flavors are both so good I decided to mix them and see if some synergy would happen, no such luck. Keep them seperated.
I’ll be getting RB here in a few weeks so I’ll report back.
I for one loved the root beer. To me it tasted a lot like original, with a hint of licorice or something. Two thumbs up from me. This, and the original are going to be my staples.
since we’re talkng about mixing it up here, I too thought rasberry was a bit too sweet, so when i ordered 1 of the original and 1 of the berry flavored, my original seemed to go much faster.
…
Flash forward to me getting ready to move last june, i had a quarter of a tub of original, and about 3 quarters of rasberry left, so i combined them… and they taste amazing.
Although the original still takes the cake, which reminds me, Hey Dolce, ive always thought that the original flavor tasted like angel food cake.
