Mine should be here Wed, I shall update after trying it!!
Just read about this and will definitely be giving it a try!

I really wish they had trial packs for each flavor of a supplement. I’d gladly pay $3-5 for ONE serving of something instead of 20-30+ of something I have to choke down. Even if Biotest came out with a “variety pack” of individual servings including each flavor of a specific supplent.
Say you get a “variety pack” of 1 serving for each flavor of Surge and they charge you the same price as 1 tub of Surge…it’d be an AWESOME deal and you wouldn’t be wasting tub after tub of supplements, not to mention your hard earned money.
They could even call them TEST-packs in keeping with the whole theme of things…

I like the test-pack idea, although I think it would be best to have 3-5 servings of each to get a fair trial. I know that the first time I had the original I thought I’d vomit. Next time, it was still distasteful enough that I thought there was no flavor that would cover that smell and taste. Number 3, I thought this isn’t soooo bad, maybe I could choke down the rest of the tub.
By the 6th attempt, I actually started to think it wasn’t bad tasting after all. Now, I’m fine with it. I know some people like one of the flavors right off the bat, but boy I wasn’t one of them. It was only because I’d paid a lot per serving for it that I was willing to choke it down. With 3-5 servings per flavor, you’d be able to give each a shot and you’d spend enough to give you the incentive to not let it go to waste after one or two drinks.
I have the vanilla and it has definitely not grown on me. I’m hesitant to try the other flavors given this, the price, and knowing that I’ve found a flavor that works for me. Lower the risk, and I’d be much more willing to give it a try. Maybe when you buy a tub there is an option to add some smaller single-flavor trial samples to your order for those who have sampled several flavors but want to try one or two others.
For anyone who didnt like the vanilla try it with a scoop of Power Drive and it becomes a pleasent orange flavor. The only other thing I can think of is using those sugar free flavorings or some Nestle Quick.
Also Nate Dogg… the chocolate is amazing. Tastes like Hot Cocoa. I’ll be sticking with the OG flavor and chocolate in a rotating fashion myself.
Cant wait to try rootbeer though.
I got sidetracked looking at dedicated’s avatar. Anyway, I think the rootbeer might be a nice change of pace. Please post your opinions as soon as you get it, I’m placing my next order later this week.

Sweet. At least I have something to look forward to when my vanilla is gone!
The only other brand I’ve tried that was good was Relentless. The chocolate was similar to cocoa.
I’ve liked the Original from the get go and nothing else has tempted me to go otherwise…until this Rootbeer stuff. It’s damn tempting. Just received a recent order but my GF is interested in some products and I may be placing another order this week. Though I’d like to hear some reviews first.
$30 bucks is nothing…buuut it gets a little steep in Canuckville with shipping fees and then custom fees on top of that…

Same here, I thought about ordering the Raspberry when it come out but decided not to. Original is just so damn good.
I went ahead and ordered 1 tub of original and 1 tub of root beer today. I am leaving for the weekend to go watch Worlds Strongest Man but it should be here when I get back, can’t wait
I thought that I was set on supplements, until I realized that I was almost out of BCAA’s…oh darn, another order to place! How did that Surge Root Beer get into my order??? I love the original and the chocolate, but I had to try it! At the worst, I’ll have to tone it down with the original like I do the raspberry!
I just received my order. I’m going to the gym now, so I’ve not yet tried it, but when I come home tonight, after having tried it, I’ll update. Can’t wait!
I got it last night and tried it this morning. It doesn’t seem as sweet as the other two flavors I’ve tried (the Original/Best and Raspberry) so those who doesn’t like Original might like it. I can’t compare the test to a real root beer float 'cause I’m low-carbing and dividing my serving into two peri-workout. Sorry. Kudos for the great flavor idea.
The T-Nation forum anxiously awaits the response of Mr. Clean and Jerk…
Will he give root beer float the thumbs up-
…props/kudos to T-Nation for the idea…
can we get some nutritional info on the new flavor? i know there are some differences between the other already established flavors. just wanting to see how root beer will measure up
I bet Root beer is good. I just tried some of my bros Raspberry today, and it was way better than I had expected. It caused me to order a tub even though I have three tubs of the OG unopened. Choc might be good… Nothing beats the OG though. Peace
To BFBullpup’s point, this stuff is less sweet than the other formula. The product has been changed.
The result of the reformulation is less of the sweet stuff and more of the bitter stuff (pure hydrolyzed whey protein is no treat, as you folks likely know.) The ratios are changed, the taste is changed. I’m quite pleased with the differences, as hydrolyzed whey is quite the anabolic treat (duh!)
The old formula Wild Raspberry tasted AMAZING. Given how good Biotest products tend to taste, I was expecting the Root Beer Float Surge to taste like a yummier version of the Muscle Milk Root Beer Float. One thing I forgot to take into account was that Muscle Milk contains fat and Surge does not (thankfully, as there’s no reason for it in a PWO shake.)
The trade-off made in omitting fat, however, is the absence of that lovely creamy taste. Though I’d much rather have ideal nutrition than taste in my supplements, we’ll just say that the creaminess was missed in this watery, thin-tasting drink.
This was only true for the first scoop, though. The second scoop, just for kicks, I decided to mix in skim milk, instead of water. WHAM! My taste buds enjoyed that a lot more. It reminded me of that good old sensation of drinking the old formula Wild Raspberry and wanting more when the shake was done, just because the taste was so damn spectacular!
I don’t know if I’d recommend mixing the stuff with milk regularly, because I assume that the slower digesting lactose and casein and milk would interfere with the lightning quick absorption of the ingredients in Surge, which kind of defeats the purpose of using it. So I’ll finish the Root Beer Float and just try to live out the glory days of the old raspberry formula, from here on in. (Holy crap, I think this is my longest post ever. Good night, everyone!)
I just tried the root beer float flavor today as well. It basically tastes like a watered down flat root beer. I personally enjoyed the original flavor more. By the way, does it matter if I’m mixing the Surge a couple of hours before I drink it?

No.

I had the rootbeer flavor last night and found it quite tasty.
Of course it’s watery – it’s Surge. Did you expect to have a scoop of ice cream floating at the top?
Could one of you guys who own the new formula post the macros and total calories…etc.
There are some variances in every Surge formula…and I was wondering how this one stacks up. Especially the BCAA mixture?
