Seconded, I hear a lot of private scene showings were met with a lot of praise, I can’t wait to see del Toro handle a massive Robot/Godzilla-Monster epic. I imagine from what came of his Hellboy films, he’ll be able to do an even grander job with this and make it into something truly spectacular.
Nerd trivia: The voice of the Robot’s AI has been cast as Ellen McLain, the voice of GLaDOS from Valve’s Portal games. (Also the TF2 announcer and the Combine troops from Half-Life, but of course GLaDOS is the reason she’s cast.)

Did anyone else see the new Star Trek?
I loved it. If you liked the one JJ Abrams did a few years ago then there’s really no reason not to enjoy this one.
Sure like most action movies these days I wish they’d just take a break and not always go full-ass apeshit with the cuts, edits and pace of the action scenes…I mean you take a movie that people thought was a non-stop thrill ride like the first Die Hard and these days it looks like a quaint drama.
It was a summer movies wet dream. This is the kind of movie as a kid I had imagined a Star Trek movie would be. I must…Must see this in Imax. No spoilers from me on this one guys. It is worth the price of the ticket x5.
Yeah man IMAX was awesome, only time i’ve really liked 3d

Truthfully, I liked it, but actually preferred the original movie this one was based on. Don’t want to give anything away, so if you’ve seen it, you should know what I mean.

I think because Wrath of Kahn is such an awesome movie and this movie took that and turned it on its head due to the alternate timeline just made it fucking awesome x 100000 for me haha

Trailer for Riddick is finally out.
Other than the Conan gag in the beginning of the clip (play dead, then grab the bird when it gets close), it looks much more like Pitch Black than I had expected. Not sure I’m happy about that. I’m also wondering how they’ll address the entire second movie, what with him being left in charge of an intergalactic army and all.
I keep reading that Karl Urban is in this one, but the lack of him in the trailer makes me think it might be a quick cameo in the beginning of the flick…
“Hey Vaako, wanna be leader instead of me?”
“Sure thing, Rich. Thanks, man.”
::roll opening credits, fade in, Riddick standing alone in desert::
I have a feeling that the planet in the trailer is Furya. It’s the only way they could make a smaller scale movie and continue the story.
Recent stills of Christian Bale and Jeremy Renner during filming for David O. Russell’s new film “American Hustle”.
Looks like Bale is pulling another 180 and perma-bulking for this role. Even looking a little Mark David Chapman here, can’t wait to see him play this one off. The casting seems to have been very well done. Bale, Renner, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Louis C.K. and Michael Pena are the major casting choices for the film.
Although David O. Russell is a massively insufferable cunt in person, I cannot deny that his methods work and he has made some very top of the line films that way, and I do not doubt that this will live up to his records. Russell has also co-written the script with Eric Singer (not the replacement Cat-man in KISS).
Scheduled for release on Christmas Day, definitely one to look out for as the month starts coming to a close. May even be on cue for one of the best films of 2013.

Yeah, if it wasn’t for Guillermo Del Toro at the helm I’d estimate it to be a total flop. I don’t think it will be as good as people are expecting it to be, but just by virtue of Del Toro not really having made a substantial “disaster” yet in his whole career, I think it will come out average or slightly above.
Huge epic action films aren’t his forte, hell the closest he’s probably gotten is the Hellboy series. I estimate it to come in somewhere around Iron Man 3 quality. The little boy inside of me is screaming best of 2013, but my ticking brain knows a little better than that, kind of demotivating really…
Visuals look great though, I loathe when the reliance is on that, cough Battleship cough, but I can’t argue with how refined they’re looking. Film technology is really breaking barriers these days man.

You summed it up nicely.
If Zod wants Kal El and is willing to destroy the Earth to get him then they had better have a pretty good reason for Superman staying and risking all of Earth getting destroyed.

Because it’s a movie?

Hey, I will suspend my disbelief, but gaping plot holes should be filled in no matter what genre.
This reminds me of the 1989 movie I saw as a kid, Robot Jox.
Man I think I remember seeing that one as a kid, is that the one where they had that thumbs up fist bump thing? And like a robot gladiator arena, with this weird Cold War vibe to everything?
