Good Morning Gentlemen. I recently obtained a new job which came with new insurance. My new insurance is not covering my test cyp without blood work proving my total t is under 300 ng/dl. Because I’m on trt, it’s obviously not going to be under 300. I have blood work from 2013 with another Dr showing it was previously under 300.
Im obviously trying to avoid going off trt for a month in order to prove hypogonadism. I’m sure I’m completely shut down currently, but don’t want to go through the suffering of that process, since I have a new job a wife and three kids.
Out of pocket, a months supply will be $250; not very affordable vs the previous $75.
Any advice from someone who’s been through this before? physioLojik, since you’re in the medical field?
@Hostile this is difficult. You should be able to get a letter from your prescribing physician sent to your insurance company discussing your treatment and need to continue in lieu of new blood work. Let someone in his office know what’s going on and they should be able to go ahead and get it approved.

This might be something I have to deal with down the road.
Couldn’t this be argued as causing harm? I know if I let my T go that low, my joints are going to be killing me. How can you work? I don’t understand why they think its no big deal to let your testosterone tank.

This is cruel and inhuman treatment, forcing a man to crash his hormone levels and suffer just so the insurance company can get out of paying for treatment attempting to prove you’re were normal. Then they don’t really care about your health, they care about having to pay for treatment for life.
You can do better, Defy Medical is $1300-$2000 which includes labs, consults and medicine. You pay as you go.
