New Conan Jason Momoa Revealed

As far as the pics above…That is exactly what I want avoided. Conan the cartoon character.

Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut

I’m afraid you have it backwards. You’re carrying around this cartoony/comicbook Conan in your head. I’m imagining the Conan directly from Howard’s stories.

I’m hearing a whole lot of gripes without any input as to who would you pic to be Conan. I’m still holding off till the final cut.

Hell if its not Michael Clark Duncan I’m not sure who they should have. hahahahahahah
Roland Kickinger

And if he can’t act, then write less lines and add more dismemberment.
OctoberGirl wrote:

I am disappointed. The guy is too pretty and just not thick enough. I would have been fine with sacrificing height for muscle mass. This guy is supposed to be a monster.
He might have the look naturally. Ya’ll know that Momoa was attacked in a bar fight (in real life) and got slashed up to the tune of 140 stitches, don’t you? His attacker got 5 years. Maybe they are going for that realistic look…

He also did a bunch of his stunts in Stargate, quite a few of which were pretty much over the top. I always thought he was good as the barbarian/straight-faced comic in Stargate. If they can get that sort of chemistry going in the next Conan it might be a lot of fun. And I really hope they get Claudia Black in there too. :o)

Just sayin…

Juggernaut was Vinnie Jones in a MUSCLE SUIT!!!

he’s a big dude, and he’s been in other movies where he has a big physical presence

and he’s got attitude, here he is playing rugby

We’re talking about a Character who is naturally big, by historical standards, compared to his contemporaries. I want to see Howard’s world on screen. A fantastical world full of lurking monsters and sorcerory. Yet, oddly familiar. As if it were a secret/forgotten history.

So yes, protien shake-roided-modern gym-bodybuilder physique sticks out like a sore thumb, to me. But yeah, let’s go for another Conan as dumb, oafish, camel-punching Mr. Olympia. As long as limbs are being hacked off, who cares? Conan was a much more interesting character than that.

At 6’2" , 210lbs you’re imagining Robert Howard. I’m 5’10, 225lbs, from reading the books Conan should be taller, broader, and thicker than me. The images I posted are not preposterous builds, and they match Howard’s description of Conan. Sylvester Stallone is sporting a similar build at the age of 62ish.

I like Sloth’s point of view. Good points, sir.

I’ve got nothing against Vinnie Jones. I think he’s a great actor, just not the right one to play Conan. Usually when he’s playing the bully/enforcer roll he is wearing several layers of clothes. It gives him more bulk to match his height and provide for that imposing presence. Not to mention scowls like no one else.

I had to Google Howard’s info as I’ve only read the comic books, but Howard supposedly based Conan on his own measurements which were 6’.2" and 210lbs.

Nope. Look at the Wiki post above. Howard himself stated the Conan was the physical double of 6’2 210 .lbs Cormac Fitzgeoffrey, another one of his Characters. Guys, get the books. You’ll realize how terrible the movies were.

Yup. Though the body composition of that 210lbs. is a bit different =P

Last post. None of this is going to feed the hungry, or cure cancer. So I didn’t want to make some big deal out of it. But as a fan of the original works, I thought I’d stop in and share my own view.

Nope, soccer. That’s Paul Gascoigne’s nuts he’s grabbing. Rugby players in general aren’t that dirty…on the pitch.

Sloth, I grew up reading REH and I have made similar statements and arguments as yours in reference to this subject. Unfortunately, most people don’t read and get so locked into a certain view they can’t think outside the box. Ironically, thinking outside the box in this case means making the world the author originally imagined.
