In my case the overwhelming majority of people turned out to be incredibly selfish.

He is saying people do things out of self-interest. Self-interest does not mean only getting monetary returns for your actions. A familial and personal connection is what motivates him and the returns he receives is having a great bunch of people to be around. These things are the value he receives from parting with his time and/or money. If not for these, he may not be doing it.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking that altruism alone is what drives acts of charity.

In business, it is the same. You need to know the value the consumer gets out of purchasing your product or using your service. And remember, you are also competing with other charities because if someone gives his money to you, he is not giving it to another charity. Which is why you need to approach this like a business. If you simply think you can rely on the goodwill of people, of course you will fail.

My personal experience: Advertising campaigns for 1 charity and 2 non-profits for social causes. Budget for one project went into high 6 figures for a 3 month campaign.

Interesting fact: A very high profile US democrat championing a social cause with great moral indignation in the mid 2000s quoted me $200,000 excluding air fare and hotel expenses for a one night dinner and a 15 minute speech for the purpose of this cause.

A friend of a friend has MS and the government pays for his medication.5k a month. he told me for Copaxone. And his blind spot continues to grow.So you are still paying for it, only with stem cell treatment it is actually less expensive and gives the diseased the best chance of getting better and back to work. So they can get off of disability. I’d think you’d be down with that course of action?

Matters that it exists? Sure. But your FICO score (if above 600ish) plays essentially no role in determining if you should be loaned money, especially on a non asset loan.

They look at proof of income and proof of assets, along with work history the most. Ya know, the ‘can this guy repay us’ metrics.

In order for those assets to be collectively owned they must be seized. Seizing them requires a totalitarian regime.

Therefore every truly socialist government must also be a totalitarian one.

The scandanavians have a robust market economy with private ownership of the means of production coupled with high taxes and safety net programs. Very, very much like the US.

What this shows you is that there are so many layers upon layers of corruption within the system that government officials are so confident that they won’t get caught.

I’m not from China. I do business in China.

Every socialist government in history has ended up in totalitarianism. It is inevitable. You cannot turn the country socialist without giving the government enough power to do that. When you give the government so much power, it will be abused. This power cannot be taken back once that happens until they have bled the country dry and there isn’t even enough money left to steal. Then the crony capitalism starts. This occurs over decades. There is no other reasonably foreseeable outcome.

They take away your right to lawful assembly and protest because you gave them the power to shut down public speeches by people you disagreed with. They take away your possessions because you gave them the right to nationalize and redistribute the possessions of people they made you believe were oppressing you. They will control language because you want to be protected from “hate speech” in which laws when enacted will be subjective in application so they can basically justify anything to be an act of sedition. With this, they will control education and the intellectuals who will indoctrinate your next generation into loving the State that’s fucking them.

This is how propaganda works. By the time you figure it out, you are already fucked.

You own public parks. Try taking a shit right in the middle of it and see what The State does to you.
