Got the email and was sorely tempted but with shipping to the UK I’m going to have to keep my fingers crossed for a kindle version.
I’ll probably buy the pre-order because why not.
But I may not READ it until it comes out on Kindle. It’s way easier for me to read when it’s on the devices that I need to carry for work, I can’t be hauling books around.
What will happen is I will lend the book to people I’m coaching.
Oh man, Canadians get boned on shipping. $29USD First Class. There’s no cheaper options. Meh.
Par for the course.
When is the Kindle option available? I don’t mind spending the money, but I really don’t like having books lying around the house and I already have a decent library accumulating in my Kindle app.
Normally I’d wait for the Kindle version, but as 531 kickstarted my gains after three failed years following “the Wisdom of Mike Mentzer” (yes, 3 years before the penny dropped), AND he’s been kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions I had on this forum, I have no problem ordering the physical copy. It’s a training book, not Proust’s ‘In Search of Lost Time’. It’s not going to take up much space.

True, but if i bought every book I have on kindle it would. I like taking it to work and reading and it’s a lot easier to carry a kindle in a restaurant on your lunch break than a book. Plus, its easier to read lying down, fits everywhere, and it’s better environmentally. Win wins
“better environmentally”
…Well sorta. I don’t think choosing electronic over paper is enough to offset your carbon footprint. Our measly libraries are not enough to offset having to mass produce the device in the first place. It’s the same argument about electric cars - sure it saves YOU from buying gas, but how much carbon was produced and oil products used to mine the lithium for the batteries. Your reasons are sound, I would just be careful about that ONE aspect of your argument.
Anyway, definitely a tangent from the thread.
46$ for shipping to Bulgaria, EU…that kinda piss me off but i’ve made my purchise.
p.s. Who the fuck is Jordan Feigenbaum?
I agree with what you said. I feel electric cars are kind of a waste and I understand the library argument. My only thing would be the mindset. It would be as if I said “I do not need to recycle because big places like WalMart do” but if 500,000 thought that way, that would turn into a big deal. Not trying to hijack this thread btw. Just talking out of my ass really.
Shipping was pretty high in the US too ($16).
Based on that article discussed in the forum, an individual whos perspective to training did not impress me.
Also - he should have at least learnt about the method he reviews.
Oh yeah I read that. I thought it was a totally fair assessment given what he reviewed - which was basically a single isolated principle of 5/3/1. He basically compared apples to oranges.
Yes. That was the main problem. The 5/3/1 original was not build to be the “ultimate intermediate program”, hell, the headline itself says “simplest way to build raw strength”.
He propably does not know 5/3/1 well. He knows it is popular and cherrypicked random template from Tnation or something.
I’m also slightly irritated every time someone gives out “the optimal” method for beginners/intermediates. There is better and worse options, but you can get anything work with dedication and time - if the principles are there.
I think he read the 1st edition (maybe Beyond, but I doubt it) and/or found a quote somewhere that said Jim preferred the “Triumvirate”.
He also says “Nothing personal”, but at one point boldly claims that 5/3/1 is the worst possible program to move to, which doesn’t quite sound “all business” if you know what I mean.
Anyway, not really much to do about anything, and I doubt it’s worth anyone getting heated over. Anyone who knows 5/3/1 knows it’s a bullshit comparison. The guy wasted his time as the comparison is less than pointless.
No offense to Jim as the new book at forty dollars I have no problem paying. But, twenty nine to ship it to Canada? No thanks. You also have to factor in the exchange rate. Since I’m really only after the Krypteria info, should I wait and see if there will be a kindle version or should I just join Jims forum?
Good luck. He isn’t accepting new members presently.
After all the free advice I got from Jim, I figured anything under $100 was a steal.
I bought the new book, paid the shipping and the exchange. Worth every penny with a lifetime of quality training information in my opinion.
Ordered the book, despite paying 2x as the shipping is insane.
Hope it won’t disappoint.
For those of you on the fence, I would go to his website and check out the table of contents for the new book. This book is more than just a couple programs, and looks like it will be a one of kind insight into years of training and coaching hundreds of people and athletes. Knowledge is very valuable.
