Netflix is Great! Movie Suggestions?

I just started watching spartacus because I’ve always liked gladiator literature. I’ll tough it through to first couple episodes. lol.

LOL at the responses. Once you’ve had it a while, you will simply watch things that have at least 3 stars. Less than 3 stars usually means low budget, poor writing and not enough breasts.

I am on a mission to watch every horror b-movie on it that is actually watchable.
Arent the stars based off of your own previous ratings? I canceled my membership but tats what I seem to remember. That if you go through the movie rating system they have, giving your own ratings to movies you have seen, you will see the list of rec. movies for your particular tastes grow in numbers. Maybe I am com[pletely misremembering how that worked.
I don’t think it works like that because all the movies have ratings…and the ones with two stars or less truly suck ass and are usually low budget movies. I don’t even rate my movies watched.

They do find you movies based on ones you’ve watched already.
I have a sneaky suspicion that my Netflix account thinks I’m gay. You watch one Hilary Swank movie and you’re branded for life!!

Though sometimes it just thinks I’m a fledgling terrorist.

LOlz

Same thing happened to me when I watched one episode of Dr. Who. Suddenly all I want to watch is British tv all of a sudden.

And the answer is no…I do NOT want to watch that much British television…ever.

PS, once again I will write that I do not get the appeal for that fucking show. Who the fuck is watching Dr. Who?
X2…go with this guy, Dr.No lol.

glad i can help, and for all you guys talking about spartacus its kind of slow in the beginning but by episode 4 things really start to pick up and the season finale is so satisfying i really think you’d all enjoy it

When Strangers Appear - It’s a good mystery/thriller movie

Mongol - I love this movie, it is so worth reading the subtitles. I hope they do make the rest of the movies

I didn’t see it coming… Did you?

Cashback, it’s a good english movie about a guy with insomnia so he works at a grocery store at night and it has lots of topless chicks.

Snakes on a Plane

I just watched this. The “what the fuck is going on?” build-up for the first hour was pretty great, though I think it sputtered a bit in the home stretch.

Solid recommendation overall.

yojimbo: great throwback samurai flick
election: HK style triad movie (ok)
election 2: sequel (ok)
warlords: film about ancient china and three generals (pretty good)
gamorrah: film about italian mafia, filmed documentary style (couldn’t get past the first 20 min… boring)

I’ve been watching the hell out of Mystery Science Theater 3000 lately. Shit is pretty funny most of the time, but there is the occasional bland episode.

Dogtooth, now THAT’S a fucked up movie. Just weird, the whole thing is weird.

I like Netflix, but the search engine/implementation is plain awful.

i agree the search engine is a complete mess… usually i find my movies by browsing through the whole catalog (via ps3)…

every now and then i do enjoy a “suggested” movie though

Vinnie how long does it take to get movies on the PS3? And what is the pricing?

I have just kept my blockbuster account, they mail in 3 movies and I can take those to blockbuster and trade in for 3 more. But gets to be a pain to have to drop that shit off.

I had netflix when it first started years ago and never had a problem with them, just blockbuster had a better deal so I switched.

DJ with netflix on the ps3 its real easy. the movies get downloaded in id say less than a minute when you pick one, as for the cost, I think they now offer a online account only, but i have the online as well as mail in account which is i think $9.99/month. They arent able to put the newer movies online which is why i keep the mail in one too if theres something that just came out that I really want to see. But online they also have tv series and all that, its a pretty good deal. I usually watch 1 movie a week so to me its worth it. But all movies online are instant.

As stated the search function kinda really sucks, but then that leads me to watch movies id never think id watch becasue im sick of searching and then end up being good movies.

^ That was kind of my thing was the wife and I on Friday and Saturday night like to watch movies. She likes new movies and I guess we could wait, I am not that patient. She doesnt like going to the movies so I end up having to wait until the new ones come out on DVD.

Is it HD?

The movies load pretty quick on ps3 less than a minute taking into consideration the internet speed… the thing about netflix is that its getting more and more commitments from companies and its relatively cheap… the movies come in relatively quickly and the tracking on the delivery of the movies is mostly accurate…

quality wise ure looking at dvd quality for streams… u get all up to date starz movies and shows, but hbo and cinemax is slower… the amt of older movies through stream is pretty impressive though…

i looked into Blockbuster too but with blockbuster stores closing left and right it just wasnt worth it…
