Anyone here use Netflix streamed through their HD tv? I am interested in doing this instead of paying a shit load for cable tv every month.
We use it all the time with the PS3. It works great but the 17,000 titles or whatever they claim to have is pretty misleading as a pretty big chunk are foreign films. There are quite a bit of tv shows on dvd available though. My opinion is its a nice service that doesn’t cost anything extra for existing netflix subscribers but I personally won’t cancel my satellite for it.
The best thing about it for me is that the only rental stores we have close by are the redbox machines. I haven’t been to one since I signed up for the netflix streaming. Everything that is streamed is also in HD, which you can’t get at redbox.
I say do it as long as you don’t watch sports. It’s cheaper for me to have digital cable bundled into my internet service plus I love football, hockey, and baseball too much to completely give it up.

You make a solid point about redbox… Plus, depending on impending storms and whatnot the redbox might be 100% full of crap shows.
well at least I have an excuse to get a PS3 now. The only thing I would miss about my cable tv is watching hockey games. Most of the stuff on tv is garbage these days.

Yes. And I love it. I dumped cable. I now use and HDTV antenna for basic channels and Netflix over the Interent using my PS3. The picture is DVD quality at a minimum. Sure their selection isn’t the greatest but for the amount of TV I watch it’s perfect. Their streaming technology is very high quality.

Netflix has very high quality internets tubes.
I have the same setup except I use an HTPC instead of a PS3 that I use as a DVR and misc web surfing box. Works very well.
I use it both thru my PS3 and the HDMI on my notebook, and it works great. Selection is not the best tho

I stream as well. The quality looks better on XBOX360 IMO which sucks cause Im usually on my PS3. Like everyone else said, the selection for streaming vids is not spectacular but they do have all the hard copies of stuff and I can get those in 1-2 days and play them the old fashioned way.
Also dont forget about Hulu: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10020343-1.html

Does the 360 do better with upscaling?
I think the 360 has better streaming graphics because it is integrated and the PS3 use the ‘streaming disk’. I hear that come june/july the PS3 firmware will be updated allowing for HD streaming w/out the disk.
