Write down everything about yourself relative to the above issues.

health, muscle loss, fat gain, libido, probably cholesterol with time lines, what illness you have had, what drugs you have taken and what you currently take, diet and changes, supplements etc

The LEF male panel testing is an expensive array at a doctor’s office if you have to pay.

I cannot find anything that shows that TRT will improve your eczema. As TRT will accelerate skin cell turn-over, it could increase the scaling from the underlying condition.

diabetic;

I was 45 in 2005.

KSman;

That is very interesting about skin cell turnover and TRT. Thanks for that link.

Well, now we’re talking and we have some solid information to work with.

First of all, I’m 39.

This is important. It’s not really old enough for the standard ā€œage relatedā€ lower T problems and that’s good to know. Having low T at 69 is a different story than low T at 39.

I got tired of his bullshit and found a new doctor.

A reasonable response to an unreasonable doctor.

I wasn’t trying to put words in your mouth, I was just making a point that how you talk to your doctor makes a difference. There was no mention before of how it all came down and it was just as likely that you were part of the problem as much as your doctor was. You’d be surprised at how many guys I talk to who are total idiots when it comes to talking to doctors.

Body composition is an issue because fat produces estrogen and aromatase and that robs you of testosterone. So one of the things you can do to help yourself is to lose the fat. If you’re committed to making your life better, getting on a diet and exercise program is an essential element.

I know exactly where you’re coming from because I was in exactly that same place not too many years ago. I was fat, depressed, hadn’t had morning wood in years, and went to bed every night hoping I wouldn’t wake up the next morning.

Doctors pushed anti-depressants at me. I even had my testosterone checked and I was told it was ā€œfineā€ because it came in at the low end of the reference range. My E2 was at the high end of the reference range, so it was also called ā€œfine.ā€

One day I simply decided that I had enough and I got on a diet and exercise program and my life started getting better. I did the research, started talking to doctors and ended up self-medicating. It’s not something I recommend to anyone else, but that’s what was necessary for me to get where I wanted to be and I don’t regret it.

As for finding a doctor… lie. Use the phone to screen them. ā€œI have primary hypogonadism and I’m looking for a TRT specialist. Are you currently treating patients with TRT?ā€ ā€œAre you accepting new TRT patients?ā€ There’s no need to go any deeper into your situation with them. All you’re trying to do is find someone in ball park.

They either are or are not treating patients with TRT. Obviously you don’t want to waste your time with some guy who isn’t already working with TRT patients. Call every doctor in your area that is approved by your insurance company. Two hours on the phone could save you months of frustration and since you already know they work with your insurance, you wouldn’t have to pay for your tests out of pocket and you’ll know before you go in that you’ll be talking to a guy who is willing to talk about testosterone.

I know how bad the place is that you’re in. I was in it for fifteen years. But I also know that it didn’t get better until I made it get better. You’re obviously trying, so stick with that. Don’t give up.

I got it all back and you can too. It is possible. It will be the hardest thing you ever did, but it is possible if you refuse to give up.

Don’t give up on the doctor route until you’ve exhausted every possibility. It is possible to do this all on your own, but it’s not something to take lightly and it is against the law.[/quote]

First of all people do just get depressed because no apparent reason. This would be the first red flag because there is usually some emotional issues either from present or past that have not been dealt with. Hormones are just part of it, but not always the reason to why they are low in the first place. Some times people have refractory depression because antidepressants do not work because of low folate, iron, b-12. Actually a few indicators are pointing this out in your blood work which Dr’s are completely obvlious of. Another factor is less look at sleep hygiene. Do you sleep well or feel well rested in the morning? Did you know that most people with PTSD tend to have low cortisol vs high. Depression is usually end result of tramatic event over time which starts as high cortisol levels for prolonged time leading into lower levels as well as depleting ones building blocks to make hormones. Nutrition is the next item that has to be investigated. 90% of americans eat like shit and unbalanced leading to weight gain and insulin resistance which can lower testosterone. Again lets go back and look at root cause and address it along with your hormonal imbalnace in order to achieve the optimal personal wellness. This is how cases I handle cases. Traditional Dr’s unfortunately never do and end up playing fill the tank with hormones. Then people wonder ā€œI am on HRT i should be feeling better, but I don’tā€. This is because the main problem was never dealt with off the bat.

I need your help, please. I’m feeling a bit ā€œhormonalā€ and sensitive after a cycle. At first, I thought it was the clomid. I had read some of the side effects can include depression. However, it’s been about 3 weeks since my last dose. Now, after reading this post, I’m convinced it might be my estrogen levels. I took a blood test about a week ago and my estrogen level came back ā€œout of rangeā€. My estradiol level is 49. Also, my total testosterone level came back elevated at 1576. And my free testosterone at 516. I’ve managed to get arimidex. Please tell me how to proceed. My life is miserable.

check out defymedical.com . The doctors there specialize in male hormones. They are very reasonably priced too. They send everything you need to your front door.

Like bulldog said, check the TRT forum. That forum didn’t exist in 2008 when this thread was first started.
