I started TRT 2 months ago, 200mg test once a week with 1mg arimotiser(?). Before starting been working out for 5 years and started to go backwards. Checked my T levels and they were 170 normal range 300-900. Since starting energy, sex drive, strength have all gotten better. But I’ve gained 15 lbs without changing my diet any. Mostly has to be water weight. Also concerned because my skin is redder, not sure if that’s blood pressure related. To be honest my diet isn’t super clean, I get my protein (180g) and fat (80g) macros , but plenty of carbs. And I drink beer on the weekends. I know that’s going to need to get better but also wanted to see how that needs to change and if I need any other supp’s do to keep healthy and maximize benefits/gains.
You may not be dialed in based off what you’re reporting, it sounds like you should get some labs done to see where you are. The thing about injecting large infrequent doses is it can cause a spike in estrogen which can then cause water weight issues, this can be minimized by either reducing the dosage or injecting smaller more frequent doses.
I had the same problem on even moderate doses, water weight was an ongoing issue which I found microdosing to completely resolve without needing an AI or special supplements. I started leaning out on more frequent doses in a relatively short amount of time.
Anastrozole can wreak havoc of fluid balance, it sounds like you’re far from optimized and probably why you are here in the first place. If your SHBG is lower these large infrequent injections may not be optimal.
Thanks all for the advice. I set up an appointment with my doctor for next Tuesday. I’ll cut back carbs and eliminate alcohol for the meantime to see if that helps with the water retention and blood pressure. I’ve thought about going to twice a week injections but I heard that can raise your red blood cell count more than once a week. So i’ll wait to see what the blood work comes back as. Definitely could use the twice weekly dose because the energy/well being drop off at the end of the week is very noticeable.
