You need some bungy cords… hook them to the back of a bike when they ain’t lookin’… that would really screw them up!

Don’t get me thinking!
Great posts, streamline…
Keep riding that high and loving life
Welcome, and keep up the good work.
I seriously doubt that any of the cyclists, that I chase down and pass, understand the importance of their roles. Since there are zero serious skaters around here I need to compete with them. I really appreciate the fact that they are available to assist me with my training. I try to be cool about it. I don’t draft behind women as it seems to make them uncomfortable. They probable think I’m checking out their ass. While I’m really trying not to kill myself by not paying attention.
AH! who am I kidding. I’m out there to smash egos, dish out humble pie and check out asses. Which is pretty much what happened today. My legs are finding their form, as we finally get the right weather. I’m holding my sprint speed for greater distances everyday.
I am going to skate as much as possible for the next week. Really push the speed and distance. I have six out of seven days of skating now. Next Thursday will be the last skate until Sunday. If I stay true to past form time trial number six should show some very impressive results.
I’m sure I’m going to Hell when I die. Having this much fun in one life time is surly a sin.

Careful if they stop to fast… may have to have yourself surgically removed!
The last three days have be amazing. I’ve had three awesome skates in a row. I can really feel the legs getting stronger as form and power find there rhythm (I hate that word, I always have to look it up).
I totally rocked. I was thinking (shut up) while out being an arrogant pick. That I am probable luck that there are no other serious skaters around. If there were I would most likely go training with them for competition. That may have stagnated my development.
Since I continuously train to compete with cyclist I believe I train at a much higher level. Having an ego that is an over achiever does help some what. Having a personality that strives to shine in the spot light is a bonus. Most important however is the simple desire to kick everyones ass, totally kick it that is!
It’s back to the gym with my daughter starting next week. That will get me back on track. Her having heard all my tales of grandeur. That ego does have it uses, arrogant little shit! Summer is looking good. Working hard in order to live up to my egos expectations, f**k’n little pick!
Damn Streamline, you’re really turning it on big guy. I wish I could see you skating, what a rush!

Your wish will come true. I will be making a little video short. Showing 90 degree plus turns at high speed and other cool stuff. It will take a bit of putting together but thats what kids are for. Should be edited and posted sometime in August.

Looking forward to that!
It just keeps on getting better. My intent today was to get two extra laps on the trail. I have been struggling with an energy drain after four laps. On Sunday I planned a rest and recover and then two more laps. Didn’t happen, just couldn’t bring myself to put the skates on.
Changed things up in a couple of areas. Switched from the breakfast smoothie to complex carbs. Shortened the rest period and left the skates on. This worked just great. Got in two extra laps and instantly started planning an additional two laps in a couple weeks.
Planning my return to the gym on Thursday. Really looking forward to that. I pretty much know every area I need to train at and the best exercises. I have taken the time to work these areas independent of each other and I believe I have the best approach possible at this time. It is now time to bring all the training together.
Over the next couple weeks I intend incorporate all my routines into a solid weekly schedule. It’s summer and the light and warmth allow the opportunity to workout twice a day without doing a morning workout. Time to kick it up a notch.
Happy Canada Day to all you Canucks out there eh!
Time trial #5 July 6, 2008
University of Victoria
Winds 12 km SW
30 km 1:06:47
A little cool out as the temps drop below seasonal again. Good solid skate, held pace within 10 seconds for the enter 15 laps. The last five laps were all about the burn. We’re finally getting somewhere. Now that I’ve reached growth stage as I tax my muscles more than they have been before.
All those 1 1/2-2 hours 40km after work skates are paying off. Time to add some more distance. Tomorrow will be seven circuits on the trail. I’ll alternate 6 & 7 laps for the week and then go for eight. The time to push hard is here and I need to keep myself free from distractions.
I am quickly approaching my milestone of thirty kmh. I have to stay sharp and pay attention to diet and mind set. These are the time that being a lone wolf pays off. With my daughter old enough and capable to take care of her self. I am free to devout my time and energy on training.
Breaking this milestone of 30 kmh for one hour will give me such a confidence boost. I am stoked to see what speed I will achieve by summers end. I’ll call it the summer of the burn, and that’s not a sun burn. Tomorrow it’s back to chasing bike for fun. At least its fun for me ![]()
Streamline,
Always fun to read your blog. You have a very different set of goals than most of us on the board, but this quest is not so much about the goal itself as the journey.
I am sure that you will meet and exceed your thirty kmh milestone soon. Have fun with the bike chasing!

You are so right. It is all about the journey. The destination is only an excuse to go on the journey. I really don’t care so much ware I end up. As I do care about how I end up.
You are so freakin’ unreal! Every time i catch up on your posts, it amazes me the things you do! AWESOME!!! There is still more to come I’m sure of it!
Missed the last two scheduled time trials. One was the company summer gathering on the mainland. The second, last weekend was due to technique change in my stride.
I believe I have found a much faster skating stride. I am always trying to improve all aspects of my game. Last week I was working on my uphill stride. I decided to make the stride change about a hundred yard from the incline. I was very surprised at the increase in speed.
Since then I have been working to prefect this new stride. There are several new muscles coming into the picture. This has keep my pace very controled until yesterday. I opened up a bit on Monday and I could really feel the increase in speed. I really let loose today and I am convinced that I will see a marked difference this Sunday.
The agressive nature of this stride has already shown me it’s volatile nature. Driving the front foot forward with ever increasing force, as the back foot kicks off, exposes the ankle to serious injury. Whence the time to develope this stride has been needed.
I am sure that further development and mastery of this new stride will continue to add speed to my form. I have now entered the danger zone. The point where absolute seriousness must be taken to insure injury prevention. I have felt the potential of this stride and I have no doubt in my mind that it’s potential for increased speed is coupled with potential for permanent injuries. Basically it’s an ankle killer and I am on Alert!
Life on the edge, now that’s when life really starts. Life starts again tomorrow morning.
Hope you’re wearing protective gear.
Firesuit and the like, I mean. Extinguisher might slow you down, though.

At this speed falling is out of the question. I do protect hands and head however. After that it’s a matter of how much muscle you have protecting the rest of you.
Joke only - a reference to catching on fire from air friction. ![]()
And I meant to say, good catch on technique and good analysis.
Rock on!
Things have been a little slow. Changing my technique has required me to slow down and let some new muscles catch up. I have been feeling my workouts in the upper glut and lower back area.
Gearing up for the long weekend. Provincial holiday and my swing weekend, yes! Four days dedicated to working out. Hope to get in some liesure exercises like a hike or some canoeing.
Went to the gym and paid off another two year membership and did an arm workout. It’s raining so the blades are on the self and I’m bored and full of unspent energy.
