I wear timberland’s. Sometimes I wear steel toe workboots or boots I got from the ETF (emergancy task force, same as to SWAT).

Already have the chuck taylors for lifting, but my parents are asking me if I need shoes for xmas. I told them I do, but was unsure of a good pair.
I know crosstrainers are highly recommended, and I have used them in the past(new balance) and nike(air max isn’t that great though).
What shoes do you recommend for all around comfort and support?
Thanks,

I heard Nike are the most accurate for body-fat estimation.
i just picked up a pair of nike 7.0’s at a nike outlet for 59.99 not bad
Boat shoes.
I wear a pair almost everyday.

My dermatologist swears by these shoes. He’s on his feet the whole day and says he wouldn’t wear anything else now. Don’t know how much he has experimented, but I suspect he’s gone through a few brands in his life. The masai shoes look odd, but I guess they are comfortable and work the calves like nothing else (so he says) through their constant rocking motion.
Me - I’m on a pair of Mephisto Abel shoes which look absolutely fantastic with a matching price unfortunately. Comfortable as hell although I wouldn’t hike through Europe in them as my salesperson said he did - lol.

With all these shoes trying to replicate walking barefoot, it’s nuts to me that being barefoot isn’t more socially acceptable.

I personally would NOT want to see most people’s feet on a regular basis.
Places I definitely do not want to see random feet:
Restaurants
Hospitals
Church
Grocery Store
Buffet Lines
Hey, maybe the idea of toenails being found in your food turns you on.

I didn’t say that I like seeing bare feet. People already wear flip flops of thong sandals and you have to see thier feet. I can’t see what the big deal is by simply removing the bottom.
The bigger issue I’d imagine is I wouldn’t want blood all over the floor if someone stepped on broken glass.

I have a wide foot and they fit fine. The question is, how wide are you talking about. Some dress shoes are too tight in width for me but most sneakers fit me fine. I designed my own in their web site and haven’t had any prblems with it. They are pretty flexible.
You fix your concern by trying them on in the store.

Resurrecting an old thread, but…
I have wide feet, and NO, the Free 5.0 V2 I tried on were typical Nike’s, meaning they are wide enough for a toothpick but no more. My bare foot was wider than the entire shoe, so I could choose to try on too-big clown shoes, or look elsewhere.
It infuriates me that Nike refuses to add width sizes to their shoes!
Also, people say the 5.0 have no arch are exaggerating. They DO have an arch, albeit a small one.
Aside from being too narrow and having an arch, the shoe felt incredibly comfy. I’ll keep looking to see if I can find something similar only wider.
If you’re like me and have real wide feet and absolutely, positively no arch, the Frees I tried on will not work.
I suppose I’ll have to go look at the New Balances again…

Did you take out the shoe insert? I’m not trying to sound like I represent the company, but some of the things being mentioned seem to be coming from people who didn’t actually spend much time even looking at the shoe.
If you see a skeletal image of a foot on the inside of the shoe that reads “5.0”, that is a shoe insert that can be removed. It is flat without the insert. They have TWO inserts that come with each shoe. One with a smaller arch and one with a larger arch. You can wear them with NO arch. They are usually sold with one of those inserts already in the shoe with the extra insert in the box.
Now you know.

This is the pair I tried on:
They only had one pair of inserts inside the shoes, and yes I tried them w/o the insert.
I tried them w/ the insert, w/o the insert, w/ socks, w/o socks, tight laces, loose laces, every combination I could think of. They were just too narrow and it felt like there was a small rock under my foot.
Looking at a picture, I’m guessing that maybe rather than too much arch-support, my foot was spilling over the side and I was standing on the plastic support thing I circled.
In any event, I was disappointed because I’ve heard good things about these shoes and I could tell that they would felt awesome if they had fit me correctly.
But they’re typical Nikes. I would tell any wide-footed people to be wary of them, because they’re not very wide.

That would make more sense.
You must have feet like a duck. Maybe they don’t sell shoes for people with mutant feet.

LOL
Suprisingly accurate.
So I am back in the market now for some nike free’s after deciding I need another pair to go along with my new balance.
Which one would you recommend?
The 5.0s or the 7.0s?
I can get the 7.0s in a decent style for around 60 bucks, where the 5.0s are still 85 bucks(can’t find a deal on them).
I haven’t been able to even try any of these on due to no stores having them in stock or they dropped them due to the material ripping too easily.
My feet tend to have very little of an arch, and are narrow than usual. I usually wear an 11 in my nike air max, wondering if those will fit the same with the frees?
ttt!!!
bump!!!
