NBA Season 2013-2014

So as far as (potentially) huge impact guys go, we’re still waiting on Anthony and Gasol…

The genius of LeBron James:

 1. Leave a bad situation in Cleveland of getting close but just coming up short
 2. Go to Miami, form the Big 3, and win a couple of rings
 3. Meanwhile, Cleveland struggles and gets top picks in multiple NBA drafts
 4. Come back to Cleveland for the max money you’re worth and become the experienced leader on a roster with dynamic young talent

Apparently the Spurs are at the top of Pau’s list, along with the Bulls. If SA gets Pau that’s the best team in the league.

In Bosh’s defense he was a decent rebounder in Toronto. I think he took a step back in Miami to make it work

Yeah man. A spurs team with Duncan, Pau, Diaw, Leonard and Parker would be downright scary. With Paddy mills, danny green, ginobili coming off the bench.

Knicks are a dark horse candidate for Pau. He’s great friends with Calderon, loves Phil and the Knicks are going hard after his brother 2015

“Offering” and an trade that’s happening are two different things.

The thought process is to lowball as much as possible and bank on the fact that love will leave after next season and they’ll be empty handed… But they won’t take that offer.

They should package two or all 3 of their first rounders for next year for love.
Makes sense to lowball. I a lot of teams want Love so he definitely has value, but since we won’t commit to resigning with many teams that diminishing his trade value. Ideally the T Wolves could let a bidding war start, but K Love can squash any offer by saying we won’t resign.

If the Wolves cannot get Wiggins they should definitely try to get another pick.

Supposedly Bennet is at summer league in really good shape right now. I don’t pay attention to summer league but that’s what I was told.
Bennett could still turn into a decent player, but that Cavs deal is all potential in exchange for an established player. I like the Warriors deal better where you get Lee an established player to fill in plus some potential. And if you are going to completely take potential I want Wiggins not Bennett of course.

Defending champs and two straight years in the Finals. Then they add Gasol on top of that.

Since when is Bosh a max contract player?

^^ Since now basically, when guys like G Hayward (!) and C Parsons (who everyone really likes, but still) are also signing max-offer sheets as RFAs.

I’ve read (heard?) a few times that the players are now realizing how badly they screwed up this most recent CBA, how all the top players are quite underpaid (relative to what they’re bringing in, obviously) by the current ceilings.

Obviously, Bosh needs to bring back his TOR game and become a legit 4 again but with James gone, I don’t think there’s any question he will. And that should put him right back in the top-12 or top-15 players overall.

edit - there’s also a “salary floor” with which teams have to comply; this helps explain why Jordan Hill is now getting 9 mil per (who everyone really likes, but still) etc.

Super lame. That is strictly a money decision. Not saying I blame the guy, but telling a team you’ll sign with them (The Rockets) and then reneging at the last mibute after they’ve moved shit around to accommodate you is GAY.
I understand your disappointment and we’re all just as confused, but how do we know that a verbal agreement was ever actually reached?

I don’t. It’s just what I read and I’m bein’ a girl about it.

I watched the summer league game last night Cavs v Bucks, and Anthony Bennett is a man amongst boys. He looked soft and out of shape last year, however the dude has put in the work and turned himself into a beast. He was the best player on the floor last night, and really 1 of 3 guys playing who looked like NBA players. (Mathew delladova was the only other nba player on the cavs last night)

Wiggens was jacking up 3’s early, which he missed, and he air balled a couple other shots. Looked good, and had some flashes but really got overshadowed and out played by bennett and parker.

Once the Cavs gel, and lebron gets in the ear of bennet/wiggens they’ll be in the ecf AS IS. Love would be great, however i wouldnt give up the depth of talent that’s going to be needed to get him out of Min.

Didn’t see the game but happy for the kid. From what little I’ve seen Bennett reminds me of a bigger, right handed Rodney Rogers. That’s a compliment 'cause Rogers was a fucking beast when he wanted to be. Hopefully Bennett has a chip on his shoulder and comes out this season with something to prove. Last year was rough.

What’s the current package on deck for Love?

I know there was talk of Love vs Boogie on the previous page.

Of course everyone loves Love’s game and he’d be perfect alongside James with his spot-up ability, but his defense is also scary bad. And looking down the road, we cannot expect James to be an elite rim protector forever.

So if given the option, I’d also easily take Cousins over Love (entrusting that James brings out the best in him, obviously)

Absolutely loved Rodney Rogers’ game.

Back to FAs, now that Anthony and Gasol and Ariza have been swooped up, looks like only remaining big impact guys left are Deng and Love.

Bulls managing to grab Gasol is so huge IMO. That’s a massive frontline with him and Noah, and I hope Rose comes back healthy because I never want to see a good player like him sapped of his career by injury(so many examples, all sad). Going to be a good team. East may be decently competitive if Indiana get’s their heads on straight again.

i think everyone doesnt have much faith left in Derrick Rose’s knees. They’re as weak as Brazili’s world cup defence

Speaking of injuries, Pierre Jackson ruptured his achilles. If you’re unfamiliar with him, he’s a guy who got drafted in the 2nd round last year out of Baylor, got caught in a numbers game in NO, got sent to the D-League and absolutely dominated. Has the D-League scoring record for avg and points in a game (58). Kid’s 5’10", stocky, jumps outta the fucking gym and can shoot the shit outta the ball. I honestly think he could be a more productive Nate Robinson. Here’s hoping he recovers well.

I think Melo would have been a better fit for the bulls and their lack of any offesnse. Gasol is nice, but Melo would have made them a more complete well rounded team. Cant blame Melo for taking the money, and im sure his wife had some input about leaving NYC.
