NBA Playoffs 2012

before the lottery even started I told my wife “I bet you that New Orleans wins the draft lotto” and they did… just like last year I called that Cleveland would win it (I guessed that they would get #1 & 2 but was off on that)

if you dont think that the lottery is rigged then thats on you… why else wouldnt they actually do the draw in front of everyone instead of behind closed doors? That would be a lot more exciting anyway.

When will the world end?

I really dont understand that either

Rumor that NBA referee’s are actually in betting leagues betting on games that they ref. NBA is very exciting but im almost positive its rigged. As for the playoff games i predict heat in 7 and spurs in 5. Heat in 7 for the title. LBJ and Wade are just to much. It also helps that every time they miss a shot there supposedly fouled.

Well at least we don’t have to hear about spurs win streak anymore, now marv will just say 20 out of 21 about 15 times next game.

Bet the thunder wishes they wouldn’t have let that #1 seed slip away back in March/April.

Becuase then everyone would know instantly and they couldn’t draw it out into an hour show. Also, because you have to draw the 1st pick first, the 2nd pick second, etc. etc. and no one would watch after the first 5 picks or so.

You seriously think the people in that room would be able to keep it a secret?

Brooklyn would have made much more sense for the first pick if it was a conspiracy. Since when does “new owner” constitute deserving the first pick? Did the Warriors or Pistons get #1 overall picks? Didn’t think so.

It’s all about putting something on TV people will watch and they can make money off of. It works better the way they do it.

I was a little too cocksure of my “Spurs in 5” pick. It may take them 7. Still think Thunder have very small chance of winning though.

Will be interesting to see what offensive changes Pop makes for game 4. He’s the best in the biz.

How good do you guys think Anthony Davis will be?

Is he projected as a franchise type player?

The draft show is only half an hour long and the actual reveal portion of the show is less than 5 minutes, more like 3. They could easily do that with the long pong balls.

Why would the people in the room NOT be able to keep it a secret? They’re all paid employees of the NBA and would (presumably) be in on it making good money. How many people are back there anyway? Could just be 3 or 4 with one of them being Stern. Not a stretch at all to think its been rigged.

The new owner aspect is a big deal because the NBA is the one selling the team and they just lost their only good player who is arguably the best at his position in the NBA. The league has been trying to get rid of the team and you don’t think guaranteeing the #1 pick would help you get rid of a struggling franchise? Come on.

Like I said, you don’t have to believe it but you’re never changing my mind. It was rigged just like last year.

PTI guys with some interesting stats from last night’s Thunder/Spurs Game 2:

-Duncan goes 2-11 FGs
-OKC Big Three scores 88pts on 55% FGs
-Westy drops 8:0 ast/to

Now of course it was just one game and OKC isn’t likely to give up 120pts again, but given those stats from last night, does OKC have any chance (barring injury) of even stretching this out past five games??
[/quote]

I had OKC before and still do. People are acting like it’s a big deal the Spurs won 2 games at home… They’re supposed to, that’s the point of home court advantage. The deciding factor will be game 5(@home Spurs).

The big deal was how they won those games.

1 - Despite preferring to see more of OKC, I’ve still got SA in five. We know Popovich and his staff will make ongoing and timely adjustments but I’m still not sure we can say the same re: Coach Brooks.

2 - No idea about Ant Davis at the next level. Granted, he’s still young and growing but all this talk of being another Tyson Chandler is wildly excessive hype (imo) when he could just as easily be another Okafor. He’s clear-cut top pick of course, but we’ve certainly seen more polished prospects after only one year of college ball. (think: Durant, Anthony, heck even M Beasley)

Flawed logic man. Have you ever worked in the corporate world? There really is no such thing as objectivity or pure chance.

Money talks. The kind of coin the ‘need to know’ guys are earning makes it easy to keep their mouth shut. If there is shady stuff going down, someone will eventually whistle blow it.

Is anyone else watching Marquis Daniels ripping apart the Heat?

What the heck is going on…

Go Celtics!!! They got this series!

And if they showed the first pick at the beginning, no one would watch the last 25 mins (which is what would happen if they drew the balls, they have to draw the # 1 pick first)

A) There’s a lot more than 3 or 4, there’s an employee from each team there, about 40+ total people
B) There have been people in there who have since moved on to other jobs, not everyone whose been there is being paid by the NBA still

So none of the other new owners ever deserved a first pick? They got a pretty damn good (and young) player for Paul (Eric Gordon). Let’s not forget that despite the one botched deal, the Gordon-for-Paul deal was considered good for the Hornets at the time.

I don’t really believe they had any hard time at all selling the team. They wanted to sell to someone who would keep it in New Orleans, THAT was the sticking point. If they just wanted the cash though they could’ve sold to a good number of people. Guaranteeing a # 1 pick under your breath as you handshake is just so tin-foil-hat.

If you want to believe completely baseless conspiracy theories, I can’t stop you.

^^On top of all that, if it was rigged, I STILL say it would have gone to Brooklyn if anyone. MUCH stronger case than NOH.

You know what makes money? Telling people about a conspiracy or writing a book about it.

You’re telling me that people who have been in that room and are no longer under the employment of the NBA wouldn’t be talking for $$$ if it was true?
