NBA Playoffs 2012

Why are people using the brazzers tag I know it’s a well recognised brand but they don’t do gay or dinosaur porn…

What do you guys think of Russell Westbrook?

No question…young…talented Baller…sure (“cocky”?) of himself and his abilities…

Do you guys see future greatness…or so you see him becoming the “Stephon Marbury” for any Team he is on; in other words, a talented whiner and complainer that becomes more “pain-in-the-ass” than asset?

The jury is still out for me.

By the way…

Maubury just won the equivalent of the NBA title in China!

Go figure!

He needs to develop his game more, cause old man time is undefeated and maintaining that level of athleticism is impossible. His game right now is based almost solely on being a freaky athlete. Im not sure he’s in my top 5 PGs tho, although it should be said he’s never missed a game due to injury which is very impressive considering his style of play.

Marbury was a way bigger asshole than Westbrook. I think Westbrook will do a lot better than Marbury and has more potential.

A. Why do you know that.
B. It’s because they are recognizable.

hope this comes up, Mark Cuban and Skip having some good discussion on finals this year and last year
Every time I see Cuban he looks like he just come off a big night binge drinking and laying into some hookers.

I would too if I was a billionaire

that is awesome. About time someone put Skip in his fucking place.
yeah skip is a bit of a douche and mark lit into him pretty good, I do agree with mark on the over used cliche’ skip used “oh that guy just wanted it more” being pure bs

also thought it was funny how stephen a. just sat back and didnt say anything while cuban was ripping skip, stayed out of the wrath while mark was on a roll.

So lets rank the top 6 greatest moments of the 2012 NBA Playoffs. They’re not necessarily happy moments.

 1. Amare breaking his hand
 2. Lebron getting his ring
 3. Clippers coming back from a huge deficit against Memphis
 4. Lebron becoming the undisputed best player in the league
 5. Rose blowing out his knee
 6. The death of James Harden’s max contract

Did I leave anything out?

maybe all of the injuries that happened. it would have been interesting to see how the clips would have done with a healthy billips , def would have been a tougher out than they were…

The only part where I’m kind of at odds with Cuban is totally ignoring the psychology or ‘emotional’ side of sports in favour of purely tactical rationalizations. But I think he’s making the comment in relation to what sports commentators say, in which I completely agree that commentators like Skip Bayless should stay away from trying to analyse sports as psychologists.

And the greater point that I think Cuban purposely avoided is the fact commentators like Ski[ need to make so called outrageous statements to garner interest and remain ‘relevant.’

I agree with you on this. If you take Lebron James for example, his emotional state during these finals and playoffs was a lot different than last year and that’s one of the reasons why he did so well. He was a lot more focused and less emotional. I don’t think that had anything to do with the oppositions tactics or strategies.

And as far as the whole “wanted it more” saying goes, some athletes have it in them to dig deeper when their backs are against the wall and they are needed. Others roll over and give up when it gets to a certain point. Let’s go back to last years finals and compare Pau Gasol to Kobe Bryant. They’re both professional athletes at a high level. You can’t tell me Kobe didn’t want it more than Gasol. If you want to compare guys from 2 different teams, then try Gasol vs. Dirk in the 2011 West finals.

Sounds like someone needs to put down plastic before these dreams start…

My take away from the “biggest media market” knicks is that the players quit on their coach, and he got fired for it. Then they got their asses kicked by the heatles, Amare being a dumbass and punching glass. If had Lin had not gotten hurt, and actually helped them in the playoffs he might be a big story, but he dint and the only ppl that are creaming over him still are knick fans.
Wrong…D’antoni quit on his team…went into the office and stated that he wanted out and would only continue if he received an extension, at the very least they quit on each other. While creaming over Lin is a bit of an overstatement I think the Raptors front office are also “creaming” over him and the amount of revenue he could bring that franchise.

I’d say he just quit before he got fired. His system never really meshed Carmelo and one of them had to go. There’s no way it was going to be Carmelo. Carmelo seemed to be “revived” after D’antoni left.

I really hope Lin and Schumpert both come back 100% from their surgeries. They make for a much more exciting Knicks team to watch and put them in the #3 spot in the East IMO.

Agreed, if Lin didnt come around he would have been let go that much sooner, and while agree to a certain extent the team began to tune him out, he began to give up himself. I gotta big bromance with Shump, he has the potential to be a difference maker type defender, one of the few players I have seen keep up with Rose, but he isnt due back until next January.

^this, you’re forgetting D.Rose going out, dwightmare going out, and the celtics being really banged up. Something tells me it might not have been the heatles in the finals if the east was 100% healthy.

1 - would not be surprised to see rematch in 2013 Finals

2 - kinda funny how Coach Brooks goes from ‘able to outcoach opponent’ to ‘job in jeopardy?’ status in less than weeks

I remember you were in Brooklyn from a sandwich thread a while back (great recommendation BTW). Curious how you feel about the Nets coming to town? They used to play 10 minutes from my house and now it looks like they’re in your neck of the woods. You going to throw them any support?

3 - actually related to above re: Harden. Once MIA maxed-out on defensive intensity (Simmons covers this well) and Harden stopped getting calls, it obviously got into his head. He’ll be fine of course, its just one bad series and a short one no less.

And of course nothing to worry about re: Westy. Now that kid showed a lot…

So what did you guys think of the draft?

Raptors surprised everyone with Terrence Ross over Drummond. What do you guys think?
