NBA Playoffs 2012

Kinda wish they didn’t blow them up. Good teams generally come back hard when they’re blown out the previous night.

^Ya just did, didn’t you? ;p

I dunno guys, his 4th quarter was pretty weak tonight…

Big Game James.

And I’m not talking about James Worthy.

Let’s spread the word!

I didn’t think there was anyway Lebron would stay on fire after half time. That was insane. I figured the he’d cool down and the Heat would lose the lead which is par for course in this series. I’m really loorking forward to this game 7 on Saturday.

I agree with all of this and especially the bolded part. I said to my roomie “LBJ is NOT scoring 26 points on 14 shots again in the second half, Wade better step his game up”, but he just kept doing it. Just crazy.

I’m sure Skip Bayless was unimpressed.

What a jackass. How could you complain he was only good for 3 quarters when the man was solely responsible for blowing them out and making most of the 4th quarter irrelevant?

LeBron played absolutely insane last night. What a proformance!

What is up with Wade? He had just seemed to shrink away into the shadows a bit this post season.

My theory is that he doesn’t like being the clear #2 to LeBron. Miami was his team but now it’s obvious how much better LBJ is than wade even though i like wade better as a person. Just a theory but I think Wade is bummed out not being “THE man” anymore.

He’s playing with fucked up knees. Remember his knee getting drained? Boston’s defense is simply targeting Wade too. Notice how every time he touches the ball he gets swarmed by two guys? It’s been a damn good strategy too considering it’s a 7 game series now. Despite all that he still erupts in the second half. Even in game 6 when Lebron was going off, Wade scored 8 points in not even the first half of the fourth quarter. It seems like he’s picking his spots given his health. Saving energy for the second half when Boston is more tired out, perhaps.

^^ Exactly, it’s the combo of Wade’s health + BOS defensive strategy vs him.

That said, it’s painfully clear by now that James & Wade are basically the same player, need the same touches etc

(And if MIA has even half a clue, they’ll seriously consider moving Wade in the offseason)

I dont know if the nba is has “cut-throat” as the NFL when it comes to getting rid of players who are fan favorites and already won them a title.

Also, i wouldnt give miami much for an old, often injured, and bad attitude player like wade.

What? I think you’re overreacting a bit here. He’s still one of the most dominant players. Boston is simply playing phenomenal defense on him and his injuries are slowing him down a bit because of the shortened season. Again, despite that he is still slaughtering Boston in the second half of games. He’s too good and he’s worth a lot. They’re not trading him though. He’s the most loved player there.

^^ Oh don’t get me wrong, I’d be shocked if they actually did trade him.

But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be better off actually shipping him out in return for another top-level talent like Gasol or Gerald Wallace. (imo)

They won’t trade him. I really hope they don’t, at least. It’s definitely premature to break them up. The first season together they made it to the finals and had the lead in the series. They would have won if Lebron played like himself and Spoelstra actually MADE adjustments. Wade doesn’t get a free pass though. He definitely made some mistakes, as well, but played the best. Don’t forget that he would’ve been the finals MVP if they had won. It’s their second season together now, and they’re one game away from the finals. I still think Wade and Lebron are talented enough to make this work out long term. They’re just too good. You can see flashes of brilliance between them.

Wade is still one of the most dominant players. He’s arguably the best shooting guard right now. Even if you don’t agree with that, you have to at least admit he’s right behind Kobe. Gasol would be a HUGE downgrade, in my opinion. Wade brings so much to the table and is very versatile. Everyone talks about Lebron covering 1-5, but Wade can and does defend different many positions too. I’m not taking anything away from Lebron though. I don’t think trading Wade is the solution. The problem is the role players not stepping up enough. They can completely disappear at times (just look at their three point shooting). Great players adjust their game. Wade is a great player

No question Wade is among the very best 2’s period, and maybe they don’t need to blow it up if they fall short again.

Also, I’m not really big on comparing ‘bigs vs wings’ (say, Duncan vs Bryant, how exactly does one compare the two?) but I can say that Gasol or Gerald Wallace would NOT need the same perimeter touches that both James, Wade command.

But you are dead wrong about Gasol being HUGE downgrade vs anyone, really. Don’t let his current 3rd-wheel status, deflated production fool you the way many, many bandwagon LAL fans are currently fooled - he’s still a legit 7-ft big, and still the most skilled from that (short) list.

Maybe I was exaggerating a bit when I said Gasol would be a “HUGE downgrade,” but I still think he would be a downgrade. Wade is one of the most talented players and will be among the greats when he retires. He can and will have to change his game up eventually, and has the talent and skill to do it. Gasol is very talented too, but I don’t think he has anywhere near as much upside. Isn’t he turning 33 or so in a month? I still think it’s very premature to even consider trading Wade. He’s just too good to let go. It has more to do with the role players stepping up.

Also, I’ve heard the problem with Gasol was largely because of the different system introduced by Mike Brown and just being very passive. Brown’s system completely took him out of what he does best from what I saw. I haven’t watched enough Lakers games though, so maybe someone else can expand on it.

Heat win!!!
