NBA Playoff Thread

I hate to do two posts back to back but I think McDyess’s clothesline last night just shows how Horry’s foul against Nash wasn’t that bad it certainly was no where near as bad as McDyess’s foul last night.

LeBron is awesome. That was amazing period. LeBron’s success is what is causing Kobe to come unglued.
I think they have to be very strict on hard fouls because they are SO strict on people coming off the bench to help their teamates.

Hey it’s all good, I do two back to back posts all the time, including a few times on this thread.

Yeah I’m with ya DD. Horry’s foul wasn’t as bad as McDyess’s foul. I love Steve Nash, but it kinda looked like he flopped into the courtside rotational signs after the shoulder bump from Horry, and then he got up after a few seconds and got in Horry’s face and started yelling, but nothing happened to him.

McDyess looked like he intentionally clotheslined Varejao around the neck, and I know the NBA is really strict on fouls above the shoulders.

Yeah, I don’t know why Kobe would be ‘jealous’ of LeBron. In my opinion, they are the 2 best players in the NBA right now, and if I had the choice, I would still pick Kobe. Kobe is great, and he knows he is great.

Also, Kobe just finished his 10th season in the NBA, and he’s only 28. LeBron is in his 4th season.

Kobe started getting a lot of heat and issues surrounding him after his sixth season, so when he was younger, he was a great teammate and kept to himself. Naturally, the more years a player plays, the more likely stuff will happen to them.

I do think the Cavaliers will win this series. But I am expecting a Game 7. Even though these teams have been about as evenly matched as they come, I feel like the Cavaliers have more of an X-factor in LeBron. It would be an amazing measure of LeBron’s talents if he can come back on Saturday and post even half the performance of what he pulled last night. If he can do that, then I can see them pulling it off in 6.

But, as it stands, I do doubt that he will be that capable.

Outside of LeBron though, I have doubts as to whether the Cavalier squad can recuperate after last night’s game as well as the Piston’s. The Pistons are a very strong team, especially when it comes to not losing their composure and not wearing down, they are also more experienced and probably better conditioned to handle games like last night. Which is why I think it will goto game 7.

So who you got Pistons or Cavs? Remember even the game the Cavs lost it was only by 3 and Auburn HIlls.
I’m still going with the Pistons. Last year in the Eastern Conference Semis, the Cavs went up 3-2, and the Pistons won games 6 and 7 to advance. I think the same will happen this year. I think Detroit will play smarter ball, and if LeBron doesn’t get help, they are out. The Pistons are a great team, the Cavs are a one-man team. Hopefully, five guys can stop one (but it didn’t happen in game 5).

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that Tayshaun Prince has been pretty much a non-factor this series? He had a nice dunk yesterday, but he hasn’t been taking many shots, and he’s not scoring like he usually does. The Pistons really need him to score in order to have a shot at beating the Cavs.

Very true Airtruth. Going back to the Horry/Nash incident, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw came off the bench to check out what was going on, and got 1 game suspensions. Even if it didn’t look like they were going to fight with Horry, the NBA has to make sure another Pistons-Pacers ‘Malice in the Palace’ doesn’t break out, and really crack down on it.

I am really looking forward to the next Cleveland Detroit game. Just watching the players you could see how totally exhausted they were. They were laying it all out there. Even though LeBron stole the show Billups iced two free throws under incredible presure to send it to 2OT and he iced that 3 just a little earlier. He had a great performance and was on the court almost the whole game.

Good call and I agree that Horry’s foul on Nash was no big deal at all.

I also maintain that any title the Spurs get this year is “tainted”. Sure, injuries and bad calls happen and that’s fine. But ridiculously lopsided suspension decisions are another matter. (Bowen’s Game 2 kick to Amare and Game 3 knee to Nash were the only things deserving of any suspension in that entire series IMO)

I fell DEAD asleep when I got home from work slept from 4-930 I think it was from overtraining… Very pissed I missed this game, not being able to sleep is fun to, 6 egg omletes at 3 AM are awesome though… Thank god for Spike!
I’m with you, KO. Not only did I miss the entire game, I neglected to make sure that my DVR would get it. At least it’ll be an InstantClassic on ESPN.

What impressed me most was that King James wasn’t just settling for tough pullup jumpers and fadeaways (though he made plenty of those too). With the game on the line, the dude was actually getting to the rim with some monster finishes.

We are all witnesses.

On nba.com there are a bunch of links to free video of the game. You can see the 2 full overtimes, LeBron’s final 29 points, and I think more of the game.

awesome, thanks man

I think I will go to work in the morning use the T1 line, watch the highlights and claim some overtime, sounds good to me

I was at the gym earlier, and I heard 5 separate conversations in an hour that were talking about LeBron James’s performance in game 5. Everyone was impressed. It was one for the ages.

FUCK!!!

Lebron surprises me, sometimes I think he is kind of sluggish sometimes then POW! Another couple of years and he’ll be unstopable as I think he has a few more shots to perfect like the 3 pointers.

I wonder if he’ll ever do his 90 foot toss… on purpose?
True, and especially at 22, he hasn’t even reached his prime both physically (very well structured at 6’8" 240lbs) and mentally.

Great game can’t wait for tonight’s game 6.

Saturday June 2 recap:

 1. Cavs defeat 1) Pistons 98-82 - Daniel Gibson had 31 points, LeBron James added 20 points and 14 boards, and the Cavs beat the Pistons four straight games after being down 0-2, and make their first NBA Finals in franchise history. Rip Hamilton had 29 for the Pistons, but they fell apart during the fourth quarter, with Rasheed Wallace getting 2 technicals, and they weren’t hitting their shots.

TMONEY1’S NEAT-O STUD OF THE NIGHT, SPONSORED BY T-Nation: Daniel Gibson. His 31 points, including 19 points in the fourth quarter, was very impressive, and he helped the Cavs to the NBA Finals.

Very impressive performance by the Cavs. After they went down 0-2, I thought they were done. But LeBron and company kept fighting, and won four straight. The emergence of Daniel Gibson has been great for LeBron and the Cavs. They were very impressive.

I truly think this is the turning of the tide in the East. The Pistons looked like they came unglued. There is a lot of bickering going on amongst the players about the coaches, and I don’t think they will be solid as they usually are after this year. Chauncey is a free agent now, and they really miss Ben Wallace.

hell yeah! Go Booby
