Kenny Smith is absolutely right. LOL @ the dudes in the playground thinking they could make it. Not. We’d get them all the time in the pro-am summer leagues and they’d without exception always be over their head and lost.

didnt you know that there are guys in the playground right now that would be better than MJ and Kobe if they just had the same opportunities as those other guys?
I still say Kerr was a scrub, check his stats when he didnt play with Jordan, nothing of note. When I say Kerr is a scrub I am speaking relatively of course. I understand he could shoot but you put any other average (or below average) NBA guard on Jordans teams in the 90’s their team wouldnt miss a beat. If you dont want to call Jordan making NBA drivel better fine, but Ill definitely call it that. Before Chicago more years than not he averaged between 2 and 6 points a game and was bench fodder. He goes to Chicago and he finds his niche playing alongside arguably the greatest player of all time and averages career bests, not a coincidence. He leaves Chicago and continues being what he really is…a stiff.
Jordan made these players’ career, these guys would be considered stiffs (Kerr) and busts (King) if it wasn’t for Jordan and other teams trying hopelessly to stop him.

the above is not really accurate.
a guy flourishes somewhere and not somewhere else does not mean a particular player (int his case Jordan) made him. it means he found the right team and situation for his skill set. chicago used the kerr type player before…hodges et al. based on their offense and star personnel, they needed the spot up shooter. kerr filled that role with that team. on another team, he may not have had that opportunity. it is more accurate to say that the composition of the bulls teams and the offense they ran was suitable to his unique skill set (spot up 3 point shooter). this role was critical to the success of the bulls teams b/c that shooter would kill you and you had to respect it or give up something else (a double to pippen or jordan). it is doubtful the bulls run the table like they did without a respectable three point threat. he made defenders “stay home” or pay. many times those 3’s were daggers during close contests.
there is simply NO guard in the NBA who is a “stiff”, relatively or otherwise. when it comes to the big bodies however, you can make a more compelling argument b/c height is prized and rare. there is no shortage of 1 and 2’s. there is a glut of talent there (a bit less at the 1) and always has been and it’s why there are no “stiffs” at that position.
Well again I will disagree, and basically all Im saying is that you take any NBA below average guard which is what Kerr was in the league at the time and the Bulls would not miss a beat, you put your boy Matt Maloney in Kerr’s role and they would still win championships and have a kabillion victories. Yeah he filled a role, but any nba guard with a decent shooting touch would have filled that role just as well.
Man I can’t believe you’re not giving Kerr his props Matty! He’s my dad’s favorite player. Kerr was cool because everyone seemed to underestimate him on the court. I remember him draining some nice clutch 3s for the Spurs. Shots and players like that have the ability to change the rhythm of a game.
LOL with regards to basketball im Blinded by Blue and Orange. I should stop worrying about Bulls of yesteryear and begin to worry about the current ones which will give me headaches.

lol well he had BETTER than just a “decent shooting touch”. he was a 3 point specialist. if you insert “any below average NBA guard” you don’t have a 3 point threat which is what the bulls needed!
Could Maloney have filled that role? No. He could shoot, but he was streaky.

BG do you have a team you root for, a sixer fan maybe?[/quote]
no. I barely watch. I’ve never been much of a sports fan. I watch the Eagles, that’s about it. I did root for the Celtics (lol I know) when the big 3 were clicking. I liked the way they played very much. Also Ray Allen’s jumper is a work of art.

I still don’t see how you can call the most accurate three point shooter in NBA history a below average guard.
Being the best ever in one important skill makes you above average, even if you suck at everything else.

ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that the Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed in principle for a deal sending Chris Paul and two future second-round picks to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a Minnesota first-round pick.
Finally. It still needs to be officially approved, but appears the CP3 saga has come to an end. We’re not sure what changed the NBA’s mind to approve the deal, nor do we care. The question now becomes, how will Chauncey Billups react to this news? This deal is expected to be approved later tonight by the NBA. It’s also believed that Paul has opted in for next year, guaranteeing he’ll play with Blake Griffin for the next two seasons, at least.

After signing Billups, this move doesn’t make a lot of sense. Yeah they get Paul, but he’s injury prone and coming off of knee surgery and they’re giving up a lot, specifically a more than serviceable big and a terrific young scorer, and they literally just signed a veteran in Billups.
^^ and the Minny 1st round pick is going to be a good one in a pretty stacked draft. I wonder why the Clippers backed off their original position. They were telling the Hornets they could have either Gordon or Minny pick, not both. Nobody else was bidding, so why fold?
I bet Chauncey is pissed. He’s a backup on the FUCKING CLIPPERS! lol. They have 3 PG now I think, probably gonna move Mo Williams.
Chris Paul trade to the Clippers set to take place? Oh shit! Can’t wait for those future beautiful highlight clips of Chris setting up some brilliant alley-oops for Blake Griffin.
