NBA Finals 2013

I’ve never been to South Beach but I just can’t comprehend Miami as a basketball sort of town, with fans that actually have true passion for their home team. It kind of seems they want the Heat to win so they can have more of a reason to party on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Nothing wrong with that per se, but you don’t really feel any Miami fan bleeds for their team.

Btw, what is Miami and “South Beach” like? Is it as awesome as Stephen A. Smith and the media makes it out to be? I can easily imagine how it could be another shithole with fake people but good clubs.

Its a glorified Jersey shore, unless you have a lot of money. Then it can be fun.

SoCal beats the fuck out of south beach/miami. It may still be expensive but its got a hell of a lot more culture/character.

What I have heard from multiple people and my brother who was down there a while back is that Miami isn’t for everyone. He said it was like another country. I know there are a lot of hispanics down there, also. I believe he also said it was dirty.

I can’t say whether it’s a basketball town or not but it’s a sports town. The Dolphins and the U aren’t where they used to be but I’ve met a lot of diehard Fins and U fans from Miami. Supporting the Marlins is a different story.

It’s. I’m from Tampa and Miami is a lot different. I think the main thing is there are a lot of poor areas down there and the crime is really bad there, those places surround a very wealthy area. You can definitely tell there’s a large Latin population there but I didn’t mind that, some people don’t care for it though. The traffic there is terrible too. Imagine the biggest asshole you’ve ever had to share the road with, that’s the average driver down there.

I’m not a huge basketball fan but I enjoy watching it when I’ve time. I’m going for the Spurs and have some money on them.

They’re not hispanics, it’s mostly Cubans. Got an ex who bartends in South Beach. It’s basically Vegas south, minus the gambling. South Beach is mostly East Coast transplants with ungodly amounts of money. All of her friends were trust fund babies who didn’t work but would go and drop 8 grand on a random weekday. It’s a great place if you’re in your early twenties and have more dollars than sense, but it’s not the real world.

The heat lost because spo had lebron and wade on the bench to start the 4th. I know they need rest but this is the finals and I think that was a terrible move. Anyways heat win in 5.[/quote]

I’m glad u came back.

The problem with your first post wasnt that u picked MIA, its that u mistakenly tagged SA as “old team” as if they’re still trotting out guys from those early title runs. Their regular rotation is plenty young & athletic, one of their “old guys” still good for same stats/productivity (!!) and a healthy Ginobili as the the other “old guy”

Anyway, point being that SA could just be the better team…

What do you think hispanics/latinos are?

Hispanic denotes Mexicans. Latino/Latina denotes a person of Latin ethnicity. Cubans aren’t Mexicans.

Without derailing this thread too much you are wrong. Chicano/Chicana may be used for Mexicans. Hispanic is person of Latin American or Iberian ancestry, it describes cultures or countries that were once under Spanish rule. Latino refers to anyone of Latin American ancestry.

What? Are you trolling?

Anyway, go Spurs go.

Good luck with calling Cubans or Puerto Ricans “Hispanic.”
Only thing that would be worse would be mistaking one for the other lol

Exactly. I’ve never meet a non-Mexican of Latin descent that didn’t take offense to the term “hispanic”. It’s also pretty funny/ironic that we’re discussing this and San Antone is a town FULL of hispanics. Go Spurs indeed.

South Beach and Miami in general is not America. I live here and I am one of the few native people from MIami who is white and doesn’t speak spanish. 99.9% of the people in Miami are hispanic and South Beach is only fun if you have money. Going to the clubs on the beach is terrible unless you can afford a table. The clubs are filled with insanely attractive girls who just sit around tables and are bottle rats. That being said I’m going to the game tonight and expect a Heat 14-18 point win.

Viva Los Spurs!!!

You guys start drinking early down there huh?

Just looked up the definition, and I stand corrected. Hispanic means one of Latin descent. Can’t tell you how many Latins (particularly women) who think it means “Mexican” and get incredibly offended.

Anyway… Spurs in 5.

haha the heat were one three pointer away from blowing that game wide open. If joey crawford lets the teams play then I see this as being a blow out.

Kid, you are out of your mind. The Heat get more bullshit favorable calls than any team in league history. SA’s shooters missed shots they normally drain, and they still won. Miami might sneak one, maybe two, but the Spurs are better.
