You mean Clippers right? Yeah, I’m definitely catching that game. Another west coast timezone game that’ll keep me up till 1 am.

Ah shit read it wrong. I suddenly care a lot less.

I’ll just come out and say it: Blake Griffin is overrated

agree’d

I’d rate my MIA/LAC interest level at 9.5 (out of 10)

I don’t know if it is just me but I cannot stand Doris Burke as a NBA commentator. Not being sexist but I just don’t like her. Grizzlies look good too.

I watched the Memphis-OKC game too.

But you are sexist Stefan, why else would you ‘not like her’? She’s a good commentator and knows more about basketball than YOU. Or maybe that’s why you don’t like her…which would still be sexist since the only reason you’d feel so insecure was because she’s a woman and she knows more about what you perceive to be a man’s game.

OY Mayo averaging over 23 points a game this season. And he’s only going to become a better player when Dirk comes back.

Mayo’s been playing really well for the most part. His 3pt % is up significantly as is his PPG but his steals are down a bit (around half). Dallas looking good w/o Dirk but they dropped a couple very winnable games to MIN and CHA.

Memphis are looking SOLID with a healthy Z-Bo. I really want these guys to finish top 4 in the west and have a good run in the playoffs.

I’m pretty surprised with the Bobcats this season MKG and Kemba could be a deadly back court in years to come. Will win a lot more games if/when Biyombo ups his defensiveness. Jordans got a good setup going there.

Just finished watching the Knicks come back to beat the Spurs. In my opinion, as of right now, the Knicks are the best team in the league. Felton is playing great, 'Melo isn’t forcing action, Jason Kidd is hitting down shots and most importantly, they’re actually defending!

There’s been a disassociation between the NY Knicks and defensive basketball for so long that seeing the Knicks play any kind of reasonable defence, forget great defence, comes as a refreshing surprise. By improving their defence, they have taken a monumental step toward future success.

Checkout this article a buddy emailed me. Great read about the Rockets twin towers and what could’ve been-

While in the process of rehabbing his bad knee Bynum injured his “good” knee bowling!!! LOLOLOL

So glad the Lakers got rid of that bum.

I just read a tweet of a writer saying Rondo is a stat padder.

He’ll force passes instead of putting up easy lay ins and such.

What do you guys think?

A video clip is in order here (prob in top-5 of best NBA buzzer beaters ever, imo)

That’s just obv trolling for pub.

Rondo’s excellent asst:to’s every year basically speak for themselves.

And while we’re on-topic of buzzer beaters - this one goes out to scj, in particular:

never liked rondo, too inconsistent for me in terms of scoring. I think his value possibly goes up on another team where he doesn’t have to score but I’d be careful with that statement simply because I’m not sure how he would play on another team without controlling bodies like kg, pierce and doc rivers who I believe have grounded his arrogance, to an extent. he’s an exciting player but give me tony parker and Chris Paul over him any day.

Huh?? Judging Rondo on the basis of scoring makes about as much sense as judging Josh Smith by his shot selection.

And for me it’s Rondo over Parker, easy

And CP over anyone, obviously

He plays for the Celtics. The fact he is a great passer and point guard means little because the Celtics have no scoring. And I’m not sure how good he’d be on another team considering reports that he is an arrogant and immature player.

Did you read the whole article? I encourage everyone here to do so. If Sampson doesn’t get injured, the late 80’s and early 90’s are a completely different basketball decade. I found the whole drug conspiracy angle really interesting. It makes perfect sense. The Lakers COULD NOT handle
Houston, and the NBA wanted ratings, so blow up the Rockets so Bos/La get them for 'em. Seriously, y’all need to check it out.

Yeah, that was just an incredibly well-researched piece.

That LAL deal for Tarpley that owner-Buss retracted in order to keep GM-West around, that was certainly news to me.

But more importantly - nowadays there’s only the vaguest references to that “yayo era” and all that unfulfilled talent like Lucas, Tarpley and Woolridge(rip) but to read about that scene in the OAK, just wow.

As far as those individual players getting scapegoated according to the piece, let’s also be real here: you still had to fail the test in the first place. What saddens me is how clueless we ALL were at the time, how no one knew and preached about cocaine’s toxicity and how 180bpm for hours and hours on end is about the last thing a cardiovascular athlete would want. (And perhaps its even predictable that marijuana would displace it as THE drug-of-choice once that knowledge became widespread)

On a lighter note - LOVED all the fisticuffs, trash talk, genuine dislike amongst opponents, its such a totally different game nowadays…
