I agree about the critical mass. It was very smart (and good) of you to have dragged Eye Dentist into this.
If I know @countingbeans or @Aragorn , there is one way to lure them out of lurking.
If that don’t get 'em, they just aren’t to be gotten.

Overall I agree, it gets old and adds no value other than seeing when the right-wing talking points are shown to have no logic/reason/facts behind them. Similar to how I enjoyed usmcc/beans destrop Zep’s talking points about Bernie and ‘corporate media’
I appreciate you giving the article so much time, thought and attention. Kudos.
I take @SkyzykS’ observation as a compliment, because I thought it was pretty good in terms of style. However, you can be assured that I am neither of those two: a publisher could remove the Oxford commas from my work only over my cold corpse.
And Puff, as ever, you’re a class act.
I’m glad for that. Setting our agreement to be disagreeable aside, I have a lot of respect for your abilities. Just extrapolating from what I’ve seen on here, but I’d bet you paid for stuff is damn good.
Really?
The way I see it, the middle just got way bigger. Looking at the political spectrum like the half circle thingy, Trump hit about 60 deg. out from each side of center. The remaining 30deg. on each side aren’t ever going to get any closer or vote for the same candidate.
Very interesting viewpoint, SkyzykS.
Well, thanks for putting up an interesting link. It sounds like they are trying to think outside the box, in terms of solutions and I’m curious about what they think. Thanks for talking ideas with me.
Thank you. Glad to see you back here a bit talking foreign affairs with us. I do love the comma.
We have yet to see what new partnerships or coalitions may form in congress, particularly as Trump says things that really run counter to both parties. I think we all have to get used to hearing him be brash and say things off the cuff, but not knowing what will really come of the bluster. It seems like everyday we’re saying, “What does he really mean?” We don’t like all the randomness.
Commas are dangerous–they can turn normally placid pandas into cold-blooded murderers.
(Hopes someone will ask what the hell that’s supposed to mean)
I don’t know, but I thought of this.

I’ll be the one.
What the hell does that mean?
I thought you’d never ask…
A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.
“Why?” asks the confused waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
“I’m a panda, pal!” he says, at the door. “Look it up.”
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
Your sense of humor is obviously being wasted on medical residents. You should be teaching gifted junior high kids.
Yeah, I agree with this. Trump is far and away the most liberal “conservative” you’re likely to ever encounter. I had hoped that this would be a point on which to build some consensus in our country. It doesn’t seem to be working out so far, but he hasn’t even been inaugurated yet. Maybe there’s hope?
The punctuation posts are great.
How about some similar ones on “it’s” and “its”?
@biker, I can’t like your post because I often catch those errors in myself when typing something here. Mostly it’s a result of not always reading my thoughts before I hit the reply button. Still, I’m pretty sure our language is devolving with all the informal communication. I type fragments all the time.
I’ll admit, I never liked grammar lessons. At the time, I didn’t realize how telling that was, with regard to my personality. I tend to dislike rules. My younger self felt the yoke of the oppressor with all those grammatical regulations. Like a little straight jacket for my self-expression. Now, with no teacher looking over my shoulder, I can break them all!
It’s straitjacket, not straight jacket.

Please don’t interpret that thumbs up as positive reinforcement for correcting my spelling. It’s more of a, “I see you, Mister.” We should have some kind of narrowed eyes icon.
Does this one suffice? ![]()
