National Emo Beatdown Day

I love how it’s about “self expression”. Being an “individual” etc., etc.

Yeah, it’s so “individual” that you can pick one out a mile away.

“Hmmmmmmmmm, I need a look. I need a new angle. I know, I’ll go EMO. That way I can express my true self and have my own identity”

It’s all so pathetically ironic.

I especially like the sticker they sell at hot Topic," You laugh because I’m different. I laugh because you’re all the same." Oh really? Then how come my friends can pick me out of a crowd, while the only thing differentiating you clowns is the reference on the front of your child-size T-shirts?

This is hilarious! Some of you guys are brilliant

Classic.

My definition of brilliance must be different than yours…?

Given your constant complaining through this thread, I’d say that’s safe to say. It leaves me wondering if you consider it brilliant to return again and again to a topic that so obviously upsets you. That, too, would be a definition of brilliance far divergent from my own.

Why do you seem to “not get it” so thoroughly?

I don’t know of anyone here or anyone I’ve ever met that would walk up blindly and smack the shit out of someone who wasn’t asking for it. And clearly these emo people do not deserve an ass kicking out of the blue. That being said, it IS fun to talk about. It’s fun to point out the TOTALLY ASS BACKWARD ways of a group of “indivdiuals” who’s sole purpose in life is to “be different” yet conform to a look that is so easily distinguishable and clearly NOT “different”.

Emo’s practically have a fucking UNIFORM on when they go out (to the mall). I’m all for different, unique whatever you want to call it. But the very definition of those words is thrown out the minute one takes on a “look”.

Plus, walking around sulking, peering out from a tangled mop of hair dragging feet all the while whining to each other how tough thier life is being surrounded by the majority that “doesn’t get them” when there are those of us (all of us?) with ACTUAL problems, with REAL hardships dealing with life’s obstacles with nary a complaint let alone being driven to cut oneself drives us fucking batshit!

Do these folks deserve a slap? Yup! Do they deserve to be held down and have thier heads shaved? Yup! Would a little REAL hardship do them some good? Yup. But like I said, we just like to talk about it and joke around. It called humor even if it is black humor, it’s damn funny.

Because it is so thoroughly not funny.

1)violence is not funny

2)you are mistaking whiney pop music for emo. There is a differece but since none of you have probably ever even listened to it or could actually name one single artist that could rightly be called emo I let it go as your ignorance. The shit we see today is nothing more than tragically misunderstood suburban white dudes with emotional problems–this is not what you call emo…hello Fugazi!? Emo is not a hair-cut nor is it attached to a particular trend in fashion–got it?

When is national ass-hole beat down day?

Lifticvs is EMO.

I am probably too young! I am in my 30’s.

I disagree entirely! And, apparently, so does a good portion of the English-speaking population. The dark humour of Monty Python continues to set people to laughing some 40 years after they first started blowing bunny rabbits up, hitting each other in the head, and dismembering people with shiny swords.

Funny, funny shit… so long as its not real.

Trends evolve. What was Heavy Metal in the 70’s is barely Hard Rock today. Deal.

You really shouldn’t leave yourself open to one-liners like that. Especially given your whining holier-than-thou song and dance in this thread. Really.

Monty Python and Bugs Bunny parodied violence through the use of exageration–this is completely different that what is going on here–bacause I believe you actually feel these people should be beaten up. Thus, the title of this thread.

Monty Python pariodied the violence of Christianity by showing its most brutal barbarian nature by depicting actual Christian Crusaders.

Emo is simply the new subscribers to the how to be a rebel handbook. The older subscribers always followed the same protocols.

  1. Buy a black leather jacket.
  2. Buy 7 pairs of black jeans.
  3. Buy a motorcycle
  4. Start playing guitar/drums/something
  5. Start smoking cigarettes
  6. Get depressed and hate society

We all had the above guy in high school, now they have been replaced by emo’s. The funniest part for me, about emo’s, is I have never seen a big emo. Emo kids are like little, little people, with their screwed up hair and girls clothing.

Yeah, The Three Stooges, Tom & Jerry and Wile E Coyote & Roadrunner is just violence for it’s own sake. No humor there!

We 'aint talking about whiney music here. It’s about assholes bitching about NOTHING! It’s about “not conforming” by conforming to a common look and life view (which is adopted to elicit a response with the sole intention of bitching about said response). It’s about cutting oneself for attention. If you want to hurt yourself, do it like a man and eat the barrel of a gun. Do THAT or shut the fuck up and put down the razor!

Murtaugh to Riggs: (Lethal Weapon)

“Put it in your mouth. Bullet goes in your ear, might not kill you.”

Riggs to Murtaugh:

“Under the chin’s just as good”

It’s pathetic. It is antithetic to being a man. And it is FAKE! And THAT is the part that pisses us off the most.

They dress and act as if to say “Look at me PLEASE” then when you do they act like “Don’t fucking stare at me just because I’m different”.

Gimme a break!

How is this thread not funny? You probably didn’t even laugh during Schindler’s List.

Dude, no one is actually going to go out and beat up people with black hair and wearing girl pants. We’ll just laugh at them.

Ok…I did laugh at this statement–to be fair.
