My Vote's in the Mail

In WA votes received up to 20days after the election are counted as long as they are postmarked by election day. The VAST majority are received long before election day.

Mail in voting is easy and has worked well for decades. We mailed in ballots on Monday and just looked up our ballot numbers… confirmation they were received and filled out correctly. Simple.

Well, according to the SCOTUS ruling on Wisconsin’s law allowing the same thing, this has been overturned. The court said all votes must be in by election day or they will not be counted.
There is a mad rush to get people who filled in ballots to drop them off, for fear that if they mail them now, it may not get to the ballot place on time.
So for those of you voting for Trump, make sure you drop your ballot off, in a designated secure ballot box location. If your voting for Biden, he’s got it in the bag. You don’t even have to vote, but if you want to, just wait until Nov 4, and throw the bitch in the mail box. It will be fine! Trust me!

Pat is fucking wrong and misleading again. Anyone with half a damn brain wouldnt listen to this chucklehead but ill just say that Wisconsin law has always required absentee ballots be received by election day to be counted.

The law varies by state. SCOTUS did not and will not overturn those laws, in regards to this election.

And pat, once again, shows us all that he is a dumbass:

96-97% of adult population has a cell phone, but can’t manage to either physically vote or get a vote in by mail by election day? Think l read there is early voting up to 55(!) days in at least 1 state.

Coupled with decades long 50-60% participation rate.
Voter suppression my ass.

It is dishonest to conflate absentee voting or the few places with established mailins to the places who have just introduced it (most of them)

Get used to it from a trusted source…

I’m voting by mail. I registered online, and it did require information that is probably not easily obtained absent above average hacking abilities.

They also can’t exercise or read a book.

You don’t have much hope for humanity, do you? :joy::joy:

Suppress the vote in places where it “needs” suppressed.

Edit: Haven’t seen this picked up yet so may be BS.

Wonder if the GOP would be against this in places with big Republican expected turnout. I don’t actually wonder. I will say I don’t know for certain if the below is true. Quick google search looked like it. Can’t be voter fraud unless it benefits Dems. Then it’s definitely voter fraud.

My aren’t we touchy…
From a source your sure to trust:

IMO, there is reason to suspect that the USPS under DeJoy might try to hamper ballots being delivered (or delivered late) in certain areas. To me, the standard should be when the mail was postmarked (if the USPS acknowledges the mail before the end of election day) it should count. I am not saying this is what will happen. Just what would be fair given the circumstances.

Nooooo… Mass mail-in balloting, what could go wrong? It’s not like they are just throwing ballots in a ditch or the garbage dumpster… Oh wait, they are? Oh.

Remember which side was pushing, really, really hard, for mail in voting. And remember that the USPS union supports Joe Biden.

Could each ballot not be verified if desired?

My point is that if one gets their ballot in the mail at reasonable time before election night, and DeJoy’s USPS delays the mail, that the ballot should count.

I don’t see how this is relevant?

I don’t want any voter fraud. I am just saying if the USPS has issues intentionally or unintentionally and doesn’t get the ballots in that isn’t the voter’s fault.

My point is that this was a known issue and was warned against. Aside from changing the rules in the middle of an election being a bad idea in the first place. Yes, all these problems were foreseen, because it’s happened before. 100,000 ballots were set aside in a California primary, for instance. Even absentee ballots have double the failure rate of in-person voting when absentee ballots were a minor part.

The point is, that this is not news. If you want your vote to count, go in person. Mail-in is fraught with issues and everybody know it. I don’t think the USPS has a grand conspiracy to fuck with the ballots, but there are individuals with bad intent. And so far, all the mail-in ballot problems have just happened to be mostly against Trump. So if you want your vote to count, go in person.

Don’t worry the GOP is already working to fight against in person voting just as much as mail. That’s why they are suing already in blue areas of Texas. Just had to wait to see if the turnout was high.

It comes down to the fact that one party benefits from more of the electorate voting, while the other party is harmed by more people voting. Countrywide.

Btw, judge threw out the Republicans challenge in houston you posted about.

Well good. The GOP will have to continue the fight to depress the vote somewhere else I guess. The whole mail thing was a scam anyways. They want to make sure the only people voting are Republicans. The GOP wasn’t fearful of mail in voting. They were fearful higher turnout would hurt them. Which is why they opposed Texas in person voting in Harris. Mail in or in person if it might help Dems then we need to do something.

Woodfill filed a notice of appeal Monday evening to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. After Hanen’s ruling, he accused Harris County officials of using their office to help Democrats win Tuesday.

“If Harris County goes against Trump in large enough numbers, then we could lose Texas. And if Trump loses Texas then we lose the national election,” Woodfill said after the ruling. “As far as I’m concerned this is ground zero.”
