That T-Cell forum, up to this point, has only kept out the insane newbies who feel they need to inform everyone about how big they do NOT want to be and the trolls who post just to get a response.
Not quite.
I happen to rank in the top 500 customers of this company.
Despite what my join date says, I’ve been a member (and before that, a reader) for at least 5 years.
I also am serious enough about my training that I pay Mike Robertson good money to do my programming. For about a year and a half, so far.
I have been lifting weights for more than 10 years.
I had an initial 7 pages or so of posts on nothing but “Over 35,” “Supps and Nutrition,” and “Article Discussions.” I still post there occasionally.
The “Bodybuilding” parts of this site I found childish and boring, but I did get caught up in this PWI forum (something I often regret, BTW).
The T-Cell excludes me, though I find it more interesting than the older “BB” stuff, and might like to comment on occasion.
The T-Cell decidedly does NOT “only keep out the insane newbies who feel they need to inform everyone about how big they do NOT want to be and the trolls who post just to get a response.”

I find it quite disappointing how you continue to take my quote out of its context (and pretty much ignore my argument to just repeat your message) - but packing it in one sentence with HH’s nazi drivel is just low. I thought you could do better than that. Apparently not.

I made the point I intended to make…that if that forum is “silly”, then the “war room” concept should also be seen as “divisive”.
You made a point earlier that you feel it is being held against you when your actions before were to avoid the bodybuilding forum because you aren’t a “bodybuilder”. Well, I hate to break this to you, but there were QUITE A FEW who did not stay out of it and in fact FILLED it with anti-bodybuilding posts. That has only died down since the creation of that T-Cell.
That forum has apparently had the desired effect of showing that this site does NOT despise bodybuilding like so many actually believed beforehand.
No one misread you or misunderstood what you wrote. You DID write that it was divisive. How you can expect to not be held to that later makes little sense.
There were many posters here using words like “ELITIST” to describe that forum.
Well then, the War Room concept should be thought of the same way, right?
Are you really going to act as if you don’t see the point?

It’s a simple economic model, making a relatively low hurdle to weed out those who won’t take the time or incur the cost to cross it. Really, how hard is it to get in? All you need to do is post enough to convince one of the many current members that you have bona fides, and you can get invited in. That’s something random trolls won’t do, but most serious folks will have no issues. The net effect should be a lowering of the quality of the general forums and an elevated quality in the invite-only forums in the forums that overlap, with some different issues in each.
Some have self-segregated out, and I respect that, but it’s really not like getting in to the old Dawg Pound, which really was overly exclusive and died largely because of that fact.
They’re tweaking the method for policing, and it needs tweaking, but they need a policing method precisely because it is so easy to get in. And if you’re productive when you get in, I can’t imagine there will be a problem.
HH, you had a particular problem because you established a negative reputation for yourself, and reputations are a bitch. Of course, if you wanted to do so, you could just establish another ID and not be a troll while using it, and then get in - but you maintain you don’t want to do so, so more power to you.
But seriously HH, drop the Nazi stuff and the racial analogies. They are so off in degree as to be ridiculous on their face.
I thought this tribunal was done out of spite. Petty and childish. I in fact voted to keep HH, for the reasons I stated before: Until a person does in fact give a justifiable reason to be removed, they should not be. Having not posted there means there was no reason.
Beyond that, HH you are taking this way too personally. First you were obviously invited, so were able to get in. Then when the tribunal crap started, you said you did not want to be a member there. I think that was the only reason you were voted out. Also having made such a statement I can’t see why you are complaining so much. You practically asked to be kicked out.
As far as the reason for the “club”, having a non-moderated forum is a great idea. I am very big on free speech. But there are limits, and if what goes on there comes back to haunt the owners of this forum, it will be shut down.
If you have a better way of dealing with an unmoderated forum, tell us how to do it.

We have enough Canadians down here. I think you can wait until one leaves before you get in.
Then you better let me in, it’s May and that means the population of Florida just dropped by about a million snowbirds and with the NHL regular season over lots of hockey players are coming back home…so get my room ready Zap I’m moving in for a few months!

I respect your opinion very much. I will stop the Nazi stuff, even though I am being denied access to a forum that I help fund with my supplement purchases.
The hurdle needs work — I’ve been posting for 4 years and have never once, never, trolled in a BB/weight training/supp or any other serious forum. That would be just plain wrong. I troll in the ‘fun’ forums. I mean, let’s be real: Sex and the Male Animal? Politics and World Issues? Those forums are CRYING OUT to be trolled by someone with an admitted warped sense of humour.
Why not charge a fee for anyone who wants to be in an Alpha Cell? They want it so bad and they want it ‘exclusive’? Let 'em pay for it, with their own damnned money!

I concur, and while I think HH has overstated the issue with hyperbole, the principle stands.
From the looks of it, the Professor X-CaliforniaLaw use of “Tribunal” to essentially have a referendum on people they don’t like petered out - most voters preferred to have the “Tribunal” used for policing purposes.
And it makes sense. What good is the process of unilateral invitation into the T-Cell Alpha if every invited member is subject to a referendum based on their “reputation”? That makes the entire point of having existing members invite people moot. If reputation or history be a factor in letting someone in, that assessment is better made by the initial inviter - that is the point of allowing existing members the power to decide who comes in initially and who does not.
If there is going to be a potential vote on every invitation choice, the “Tribunal” is no “tribunal” at all - it is essentially a “membership” vote. And that is fine, if that is the system you want to build - but whatever the choice, it should be driven and held in trust by mature members interested in preserving a good forum, and not prima donnas on an ego trip.

You have no clue what you are talking about. I didn’t even vote for Headhunter and I am not the one who created the Tribunal in the first place…the MODs did. So take your accusations elsewhere.
For one who cries strawman at every turn, you sure are prone to that action.
I made the point I intended to make…that if that forum is “silly”, then the “war room” concept should also be seen as “divisive”.[/quote]
I’m starting to work on the assumption now that you didn’t get my initial post:
“[…]As nice as a cleaner training forum is - and I concede that although being opposed (even in the face of all these other tribunal, nutrition and GAL threads posted in there); it looks divisive, badly planned and hence a bit silly so far. I hope it doesn’t stay that way.[…]”
In the above I concede that the T-Cell has worked on in generating a clearer and more focused debate on bodybuilding. I do comment though that with all the non-bodybuilding threads, the tribunals and mud-slinging, it looks - divisive (this very thread is a good manifestation of that),
it looks badly planned (with all the changes to procedure as the Cell goes along that much is obvious),
and it therefore looks a bit ‘silly’ (people playing the system and starting flame-wars and tribunals just does look silly).
I then added that I hope (in the well-meaning sense) that it will work out. Shocking, I know.
I’m not responsible for what others do. I pointed out how much I respect (and expect) proper debate and how I understand my role as an outsider by not diluting the debate on bodybuilding. But suddenly I get quoted left, right and center as part of ‘some posters’ here whom you feel have broken the code. Quote, criticise and ridicule ‘them’ - don’t misappropriate my words (and glue it together with Headhunter’s of all people). It’s disrespectful.
Congratulations - now, more importantly, how do we restore peace?
See above - I said it looks divisive; but, the more we argue the more I’m coming to the conclusion that it seems to be divisive.
Not me. At least not that I remember.
As what?
Divisive: if it doesn’t lead to pissing contests and membership-envy, nope.
Badly planned: if it’s well planned, nope.
Looking silly: that depends quite a lot on the above.
Elitist: If this were a military-site where suddenly members of one branch or of a certain rank get an area of their own where they start sniping each other (pun intended) - perhaps. As this is not the case, nope.
So my overall assessment - no, it’s not the same.
I see your point, I don’t have to act, I just respectfully disagree.

Apparently, we don’t have to restore anything. That board seems to be back to normal now that this specific issue has dropped from the front of the first page.

Both forums are exactly the same. In fact, I am a member in both forums. They are run exactly the same.
If you think this much drama would have occurred over any other poster, then you don’t understand Headhunter too well.
No one else has been voted off but the one person who made huge statements that he did not want to be a part of that forum.
He WANTED to be kicked out. He is now crying because he was kicked out.

Actually, I used the words “silly” and “elitist” in how it seemed to me personally. I wasn’t just referring to that particular forum. I was talking about the whole concept in general. However, I also understood why it was done, so I didn’t have any problems with it. What I do have a problem with is someone taking it so personally that they have to complain about it in the manner befitting a TROLL. It’s just not that big a deal to make an ass out of yourself over it.

Wow, that’s the best you can do? It’s sad, truly sad how old age and illegal drugs can destroy a mind. It’s ok, there’s help for you…maybe. Then again, judging how far off the deep end you went with this thing, it is probably far too late.
