I am currently on a HOSPITAL wellness center backed diet that has 108g of protein in 4 MRP’s and I still add to that with Surge (on training days) and lean meat snacks.
So whoever that nutritionalist is is totally whacked in the head.

Am I adding this up wrong or isnt 70 grams of protein 280 calories?
wth else are you going to eat?
Does this “nutrionist” recomend 800 calories a day?
I bet he is a skinny fat bastard.
I find more parents would let there kids drink and party (some even with them) Than would let/encourage their kids to drink protein powder let alone take creatine.
I think this is because it is something they can understand and relate to do to personal experince. protein powders, creatine, amino acid pills, are all foreign to them and they do not understand because it is something they have no personal experince in.
It’s just because it’s a supplement and sounds all technical. I mean “protein”, it’s even a scary word!
Screw it, just take a pound of ground beef, fry it up, and chow down. Just don’t tell anyone is has “protein” in it…
Surely there is chicken, turkey, tuna, beef, cottage cheese, milk, eggs or other food you could mow down?

Ok, I’ve been keeping a log of my workouts for the last few days taking the next 2 months or so to bulk up before the track season starts.
I went and got some weight gainer, to help me boost my calorie intake as well as protein.
My problem is my mom is a nurse and thinks i’ll crap out my kidneys if I eat 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass. Even though thats the standard for wanting to gain weight.
I keep telling her over and over that professional athlets use this stuff as well as anabolics and she dosn’t get it.
She went and talked to a nutrionist and the lady she talked to said I shouldn’t get more then 70g of protein A DAY!
I’m really pissed off, my mom keeps telling me that i have the genetics to be skinny.
I could give a shit if I have genes that make me skinny I want to workout and get big and she still dosn’t understand that.
I mean seriously? What would be harder drinking a shake that has 30 grams of protein and 500 calories, or eating 2 cups of cottage cheese 2 glasses of milk and a sandwich?
What would you guys do in my situation? It’s my money buying my supplements I don’t think I should have them taken away from me.
These shakes really help me out and give me a total of 1000 calories a day as well as 50g of protein. I would much rather drink the shakes instead of having to snarf down an extra 1000 calories worth of food.

Tell her the reason you’re skinny is not genetics, rather it’s the heroin you’ve been doing. Now you want to gain some muscle the right way and that if you can’t use the protein powder, you will start buying gear from your heroin source.
If that doesn’t work, tell her you’re going on a low-protein diet. Go to a butcher shop, buy a cow’s kidney and drop it in the toilet, then start screaming. Tell your mom it must be the low-protein diet you’ve been on and that it’s her fault that you are down to one kidney.
Aside: all hospital nutritionists are fat and out of shape - it’s required. Just ask my wife’s cousin, who is a fat and out of shape hospital nutritionist.

Your mom wont let you have protein powder but she’ll let you have sex at 15? Lol…riiight.
I am being honest about this.
This is probably why I had such a fucked up childhood, and was incredibly happy to move out.

Does telling girls about this get you laid?

Nothing gets ME laid. I don’t tell anyone about the stuff I just talked about, it just happened to come up on T-Nation.

That is a funny observation. Me and MJ met an overweight hospital nutritionist while out to dinner a couple months ago. What’s up with that?

Isn’t 100g the RDA? Isn’t that based of like a 2,000 calorie diet? Doesn’t the RDA mean if you go any lower you’ll be deficient? If your mom is a nurse shouldn’t she know this?[/quote]
The current RDA is still 1 g/kg of weight I believe.
150-lber = 67 g/day
200-lber = 90 g/day
Remind mom that these are minimums
Gainers need to take in 1g/1-lb.
Tell mom her nutionist needs to do some up-to-date research. The only guys ever having problems were taking in 500+ gm/day — and these were guys who were probably taking other things as well too.
Stop being a pussy. Her house, her rules.

Which do you think is better for you? Do you always do whatever is easiest? What’s harder, going to the gym, or watching TV? If you have a choice between supps and real food, why in the world would you pick supps?
So, in other words, you’re lazy. Buck up, eat real food, and stop complaining about your mother.
Christ almighty, just stop spending money on protien and just drink shitloads of milk and eat lots of food.
Is your mom seeing anybody?
Have you considered writing to SRS to have you put in a foster home, that way maybe they would let you have your protein?

Oh come on! Everyone knows Barney doesn’t have sex! His mom knew she could let him stockpile all the condoms he wanted and never worry about him using them.

I think I’ve been doing something right, or life has just been good to me.
My Mom would probably have been worried if I didn’t have condoms or protein supplements. With the condoms, it’s the same reason she never told me not to drink. She said she knew I’d be doing it anyways (it meaning drinking) so I may as well do it responsibly. So she lectured me not on the evils of booze (she drank a beer after working out sometimes, and wine before bed), but on how to drink in moderation. Her main points:
If you drink and pass out you miss the party.
If you drink and spew, you’ve wasted booze. You can drink a bit less, save the booze, and get drunk again the next day.
Same with condoms. If I didn’t have them, she’d be wondering if she’s going to be a Grandma or giving me a ride to the STD clinic.
I actually got my Mom into supplementing with protein. The first time I tried “weight gainers” and I got a bit fat, so she was scared she’d get fat too. But I showed her some articles on muscle building and nutrition, now she has a premium quality protein shake everyday. She trains for the Ironman Triathalon by the way.
And, finally, the only nutritionists I’ve met have been hot Japanese ones. One was a surfer girl but taught nutrition at a uni a few days a week. She had strong legs and shoulders. And was hot.
The other was a librarian looking chick. She wore the thick rimmed glasses and did the “let down her hair” thing everyday at 5pm. She was engaged though. But still a nutritionist and still hot.
I hope this post helps.

Check your history books on RDA. It was established (think) after WWI. Since the soldiers in combat were comming down with Scurvy and other lack of nutrient malidies the “powers that be” established a MDR-Minimum Daily Requirement, from this they increased dosage by 50% to make the RDA. I forget where I read that but it was before the internet so it might be true. Also the protein-damaging-kidney has only been found in people with already malfunctions kidneys, the condition(forgot name) of over feeding protein until the kidneys failed is true but only on lab rats.
