My Kid!

Oh, before I forget. This thread was about my son and others’ kids eating healthy (or not).

So you last couple of guys saw to it to bring politics and sports loyalty to my thread. Let’s wait and see if your next addition is equally well thought out.

why would you like a team from another region of the country if your local papers don’t cover them, etc. Doesn’t make any sense unless you are the type of fan who hops around from team to team depending on how well they are doing.

Who the F**K are you refering to here?

Now let’s talk about “not making sense”.

Did I say we were fans of ANY team?

I didn’t think so.

That’s awesome dude. You know, I’ve actually thought about drafting a letter to some of the restaurants about their kids menus. I really think part of the problem is that kids don’t see healthy choices as “normal.” Just look at the kid’s menu of any restaurant. Hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese, spaghetti and meat balls or chicken nuggets. Oh, and plenty of french fries for the little bastards! Maybe if some restaurants threw some grilled chicken on there, replaced the cheeseburger buns with whole grain ones and swapped french fries for some veggies, than we wouldn’t have a nation of fatasses that are addicted to shitty carbs by the time they’re 8!
Yeah but youre totally missing the point of being a business owner…to make profit. Those shitty greasy meals sure do sell, but yeah–if it was their job to make america healthy they sure could play a big part.

Yeah that’s the best thing I heard all day, good on yer. Look at the little fella, he’s got a head start in life, he has.

What you got pop tarts in yer house for in the first place? chuck 'em in the bin

Hopefully a revolution is underway where more and more, kids are encouraged to eat healthy meals. I hope so. I saw some school canteens now are banning junk foods.

Sadly Australia now has THE FATTEST KIDS IN THE WORLD. Can you believe it - our country used to be sports mad, and kids were healthy, and player outdoors. Now they eat junk and play computers indoors. And sports at school are optional. When I was at school you had a choice, run or swim, and get a smack with the stick. Which is child abuse - a smack with the stick if you don’t exercise, or letting a kid sit on their fat ass eating junk?

Whoa Whoa, totally uncalled for.

  1. Learn how to quote
  2. In the above quote I was talking to the guy from NY
  3. My original statement were made in jest you knuckledragging buffoon.

Congrats,
My boy is only two and I’ve got him in the same habit. He loves my protein shakes, and I try to feed him as clean as possible. he loves grilled chicken.

We were in the grocery store the other day and I put a bag of apples in the cart, I turned around to get something off a shelf and the little turd weaseled an aple out of the bag and was chompin on it while we grocery shopped. He’s a monster, I also do not order off the kids menu for him. We also go to Texas roadhouse and he eats the samething I do, the 16 ounce sirloin, baked sweet potatoe, and mixed vegetables.

  1. Duh. (refer to my #3) You are actually calling me out for not quoting you correctly (Anal much? Geez)
  2. Way to stay on topic.
  3. knuckledragging should normally be written as knuckle dragging (with a space).
  4. Again, way to stay on topic.
  5. Name calling is just plain wrong (asshole!)

That is the very same meal I ordered! Great minds…

Congrats on the little one!

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post with well thought out replies about your own children.

And those of you who have no better way to spend your time than to polute an otherwise informative thread…

(pja, you appear to be especially moronic for a PhD.)

…find another pastime.

Is he eating 0.9 of a banana?

He is adorable beyond words. Good thing he takes after his mother.

My son will wear whatever f-ing hat he feels like wearing! Got a problem wid dat?

At my house, we like Toby Kieth, red meat and dirtbikes!

“Kerry” is a four-leter-word and who the hell are the Celtics?

Football is the only team sport that gets any airtime here.

And gee, a Red Sox hat? Maybe if every other guy/girl around here didn’t have one. They’re like tattoos now.

“Look at me, I’m different!” (just like everyone else)

Anyway, don’t poke fun o’ my kid!
I always thought that a kid should be raised to root for whoever his/her parents root for.

The reason I love the Giants instead of the Jets is because my parents and grandparents were fans.

I would have been thrown out of the house for wearing green.

  1. Thank you very, very much, harris!
(you BASTARD, you’re so right, though!)

He may get his good looks from his Mother but at least he’s got my temper!

Hey harris, you’re o.k., you know that?
Thanks again.

I’m with ya on that one!

OK, a Pats helmet pic… is that good enough?

“I looooove nutrition!”

Yells my four year old daughter as she chows down on a chocolate chunk Metabolic Drive bar. She even sometimes asks if I can include one in her school lunch.

I love it when kids get the nutrition thing. It makes a daddy proud.

Cool to see you taking an active role in your son’s diet.

Since my wife and I got serious about our own diets / training, we’ve cleaned up our overall family diet. We still allow the kids to have ‘sweet’ snacks every now and then, but its more of a reward. Like if they get their homework done early on a Friday, they are allowed to have a snack cake.

Anyway, about a week ago my son (10 years old) was about to get his snack cake, when he stopped and asked ‘Dad, can I start eating like you?’ His idea was that instead of getting a snack cake for a reward, he wanted to start eating plums, bananas, etc.

They already eat fruit for snacks during most days of the week. So for him to volunteer to give up his one ‘cheat’ snack in favor of more fruits came as a welcome surprise.
