I am at boarding school this year and this past summer, my breakfast every single morning has been old fashioned oatmeal and eggs.
They serve eggs, but I don’t know how they cook them, fat, butter, ect, so I will just eat the hard-boiled ones they serve. But oatmeal has become a problem, they only serve the instant packets. How bad is it if I have three packets of the regular flavor oatmeal? Or should I just take three slices of whole wheat bread in the toaster…?
Just want to make sure I am getting my carbs to be all good ones and stay away from the bad stuff, caus in the article on looking good nekid, it said that instant oatmeal is bad. But is the regular flavor oatmeal still bad? There is no sugar in the ingredients, no sugar in the nutrition facts, and the only ingredients other than 100% Whole Grain Rolled Oats are a list of added vitamins and stuff to it… =/
The oatmeal packets are fine if you’re looking for good carbs.
+1 on the fruit suggestion.
Eat the eggs that are cooked too. Chances are if there’s any butter that they use, it won’t affect nutritional value much. I know at our school it’s just eggs in a carton made scrambled, hardly anything is added.
Really? Caus when I visited for two weeks, I did have the eggs one morning and they seemed really like oily, like they were cooked with a lot of stuff or something. they just didn’t seem like dry when I cook em with nothing on the pan except non-caloric oil for the pan.

Don’t worry about it too much, man. You’re trying to change your eating habbits for the better, so keep eating. No need to fret over little details. You’re going to have to eat what they cook, because that’s the only option you have. Keep the head up.
I’d try to get some extra protein if you can. Add extra egg whites if you’re not rationed or purchase some low-carb metabolic drive if you can. Have a scroop with your breakfast. You’re probably at an age and activity level where you don’t need to worry too much about carbs and fat in the same meal, so eggs and oatmeal is fine. But boosting the protein content of the breakfast would still be beneficial.
