Sorry, I know this is slightly tangential but this I just don’t get. If God has a course of action in mind, it’s perfect. By asking him to display mercy when he would anyway is pointless. If he wasn’t going to show mercy then that’s the right thing to do. Right? It’s not like he’s going to get a rush of blood to his head and zap someone and then say ‘oops I shouldn’t have sone that’. It’s not like the Pope would go - God can you show mercy and God go yeah you’re right I was wrong, thanks for pointing that out, nice hat.
Haha, that made me laugh. I will try to explain it the best I can, it’s 2 o’clock in the morning.

There is different ways of looking at it. This man is Islamic, he may one day become a Catholic. I pray for God to have mercy on this Soul. And, if God so wishes that this boy becomes a Catholic and it is in the boy’s will to become Catholic than God will not shut him out. As well, if in God’s mercy he saves this boy from death, then I pray for God to have mercy on his soul while he is in purgatory, that his time of punishment is shortened.

Praying to God for mercy on his soul has nothing to do with his physical death or inflictions in this life.

Also, Catholics believe that you have to ask God for things, you cannot just expect them. If he finds that your request is just through the Saints intercession (this will piss off Tirib) or if Mary finds it just and she brings it to God, He will grant it (because Jesus does not deny his mother’s requests).

It’s the New World we’re dealing with here.

Only Muslims can legitimately get all worked up over being disrespected.

Try to follow the rules, would ya?
Oh I forget! Have mercy.

I gotta add that to my list of moral adjustments to make.

Because the Church is archaic in teaching Jesus’ lessons to his kingdom.

YEE HAW!

…wasn’t a mosque covered in bacon last week? How’s that for respect?

Have you read the Old Testament?

When he claimed he “was a jealous God” He was not kidding.

It’s horrible. But it’s ONE loon. It’s misguided to direct hatred at billions of Muslims based on the actions of radical muslim terrorists (who are unfortunately much higher in number), let alone one person.

Why would he need to become Catholic? Even Pope Benedict has confirmed that non-Catholics can be saved. Indeed “Whoever seeks peace and the good of the community with a pure conscience, and keeps alive the desire for the transcendent, will be saved even if he lacks biblical faith.” Of course, many Catholics privately disagree with this.

“It will be in the sincere practice of what is good in their own religious traditions and by following the dictates of their own conscience that the members of other religions respond positively to God’s invitation and receive salvation in Jesus Christ, even while they do not recognize or acknowledge him as their Saviour (cf. Ad gentes, nn. 3, 9, 11)” (Pope John Paul, Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue – Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Instruction Dialogue and Proclamation, 19 May 1991, n. 29; L’Osservatore Romano English edition, 1 July 1991, p. III).

“The universality of Christ’s redemption for Jews and gentiles is so fundamental throughout the entire New Testament … that it cannot be ignored or passed over in silence,” “This does not mean that Jews in order to be saved have to become Christians; if they follow their own conscience and believe in God’s promises as they understand them in their religious tradition, they are in line with God’s plan, which for us comes to historical completion in Jesus Christ,” --Cardinal Walter Kasper

Of course, desecrating churches is not a good start.

Was the bacon on the sidewalk or the mosque? I’ll put five on it that it wasn’t a Catholic.

I didn’t direct hatred anywhere. I am upset. There is a difference between just anger and hatred. And, I was upset about the fact that no one really reported this.

That is slightly out of context, those not in the Church can’t have been in the Church and can’t know that the Church has the truth while not being in the Church.

I’m not insensitive.

Obviously the president needs to make a statement, while the media continues to report on this for weeks.

Edit: Oh, this is a muslim doing the desecrating? Sorry, misread. Thought a non-muslim had done something offensive to muslims. Nevermind my original statement. OP, who cares? Let us know when a muslim is offended, and we’ll all aim to outdo the other in displaying outrage and hurt.

I should have written, “Only Muslims can legitimately get all worked up over being disrespected and have it be recognized as righteous.”

But Muslims shouldn’t have the right to kick up a fuss either.

No free speech…interesting concept. I think that might work well, to keep the lack luster ‘gentry’ under control.
