Drop your pants. Reach down between your legs. You should be able to locate your testicles, even if they are tiny. When you do, go buy some heavy and death metal. Go to the death metal thread if you need some band ideas.

If they aren’t there, you may want to go see a doctor, they should have dropped by now.

Wow, theres a time and place for everything. Lifting weights at the gym is the time and place for METAL…O wait

I guess your not lifting weights, never mind then…

I don’t know why, but I always found that Primus lend themselves well to long, tedious cardio sessions…

you really haven’t listened to much metal have you? there are all types and you can understand what they are singing. here are a few that you might be able to use.
power metal

death metal(not what most people expect when they hear those words)

psycobilly

heavy alt

There was an article recently in the NY Times about a study done that examined the effect that music has on the intensity of a workout. Stationary bikes were used as the exercise and six different songs with varying tempos were used. Basically, slower tempo songs, especially after listening to an uptempo song, reduced the force output of the subjects by an average of 2.4%.

If this study is of any value, then it would be safe to assume that music with a high rate of beats-per-minute will increase the likelihood of a more intense workout. But even then, the difference is marginal. Listen to whatever sort of uptempo music it is that you enjoy, regardless of the genre. The article didn’t get into the type of music they listened to.

I just listen to music that I enjoy, rather than what is the most “intense”. This ranges from James Brown to RATM to NIN to Raekwon to Nas to Miles Davis. I just don’t listen to anything slow, even if it’s stuff that I like.

So don’t think that the genre is important; the tempo of the music apparently is more important.

Yes, I know it sounds weird/gay but, it makes me feel uneasy. Most likely because when I was younger my older cousins would play the music at night and scare the shit out of me.

EDIT: After reading the rest of the thread I realized I was lumping all heavy metal bands together. I was referring to bands with cookie monster vocals.

Well this is what I was after do not care about genre. I was looking for faster paced songs for my cardio sessions, hell I have listened playlist that include wilson pickett land of 1000 dances to SRV but, after a while they lose the effect I am after.

had to be done to wash the others away

Check out Yelawolf…

I’m sure some will pipe in here how they think he’s shit. Personally I think he is great, really different style of rap, he will blow up in the next year or so for sure.

Two mixtapes he has available on the net, Trunk Muzik and Ball Of Flames - The Ballad of Slick Rick E. Bobby.

Hope you enjoy!

I generally do my cardio to trance or something fast and steady like that. Sometimes I’ll go with some of the more “bumpin” hip hop, or a fast pop song. But, overall, I save my heavy stuff for the weights and such.
