Here is the community college in Chula Vista. You have to preregister and I am sure you’ve missed that for January at least for the online. But get the application started and then do a walk through registration if you are accepted.
All this talk makes me feel like we should have a gathering of T-Nationers in SD (again). Training session in the AM at Worlds or something then have a post-workout breakfast of champions at the nearby Broken Yolk and do the Iron man omelete http://www.thebrokenyolkcafe.com/our-menu2.htm (scroll to half way)
Finish that shit in under an hour and get it for free! AND your name on a wall! lol

oooo I have been to brokenyolk many times. it is delicious.
As far as schools, i’m not sure which is closest to Chula Vista, but some community colleges are southwestern, Mesa, Cuyamaca, Grossmont, and San Diego city college.[/quote]
I don’t know about Mesa and San Diego City College, but the others have cut back on a lot of classes. Registration for those classes filled up quickly, especially the lower level classes. These schools were awesome a couple years ago, but now not nearly as available.
If you’ve seen the “Weeds” series on showtime that is exactly how Chula Vista feels IMO. Lived there for just over a year at the Eastlake golfcourse. It’s super nice, but there is no soul, no personality in that town.
You’re definitely going to need a car to get over to the spots that make San Diego it’s own city.
As far as gyms go, I couldn’t tell you since I work out at one of the navy base gyms.

I think it depends on where you are. Out by Otay it’s dry and gay, but Bonita is a fantastic place.
I’m assuming you live in some part of Westchester now? So do I. I’m also looking to move out to San Diego. My buddies’ uncle has a condo in La Jolla that he’s been trying to sell for years. If it doesn’t get sold it looks like 3 of us are moving out there.

I’m born and raised in San Diego, El Cajon area. Personally, I feel El Cajon is a pretty shitty place, except for the very heart of downtown, as is chula vista. that guy who said he was from chula vista, and its a nice upscale place? He’s talking about eastlake, entirely different environment from chula vista.
That does really suck the lease is up in coronado, that is a nice place, very rich area, very clean.
Also, I’ll back it up once more and say: Guide or not, don’t go to Tijuana. White person in Tijuana = kidnapping/ransom and/or decapitation. Think I’m joking? google “Decapitated Americans in Tijuana” and see what comes up. You can have as much fun as you want on the safe side of the border, so why even risk it?
All in all, if you know the places to avoid, San Diego is a great place, you should def. jump on the opportunity. I’ve been to NY myself, and I’ll just say, I don’t care for it. I’m just not a city kind of a guy. Just keep in mind, you may not want to leave after…what was it? 4 weeks, or months?
Honestly, thanks again to everyone who helped out in my decision. I will be moving out there mid January. But it looks like my sister has decided on this place.http://www.riverfrontrentals.com/1… Which is right off the 8… a little north of Hill Crest… The only problem was that my Brother in law will have a hard time getting to the base from here because of the traffic.
after a lot of thinking, really the only reason I wouldn’t move out there is that I’m leaving the rest of my family and friends here, and my part time job which I love. But the pro’s drastically out weigh the cons here as all you have said it’s going to be a great experience. Looks like mid January i’ll be taking the trek across the country and see what happens. I mean, what’s the worst thing that could happen. I’m broke anyway so money doesn’t matter.
As long as there’s a Gym nearby and a school that I could someday attend thats all I need. And i’ll take the advice never to go to Tijuana, never really interested me anyways. i watch to much of the show Locked up abroad to mess with that shit.
Anybody have any info on the Police departments out there? considering it’s what I was going to do here, my father would also like some info, he’s a detective here where I live, and is also considering the move someday.
Once again to everyone who gave their input I can’t thank you enough and will keep everyone, if anyone, who cares updated on the move.
As someone who moved from NY to SD, I’m loving it. Hate cold weather so it’s pretty nice not having to deal with the whole winter thing. But for sure, get a car. I’ll also echo the “don’t go to Tijuana” thing too. But if you drive past TJ and go down further toward Ensenada, you’ll have a pretty safe Baja experience. Just something to consider.
