Movies You've Watched This Week?

Let’s see…

Vicky Christina Barcelona - pretty good, usual Allen feel to it, I enjoy his camera work for some reason, and Johannsen is hot as always. Bardem was good also, but its hard to imagine him as anything other than a crazy killer.

Sex Drive - surprisingly funny, falls right into those genre boundaries, but I was still entertained. What can I say, I have a 13y/o sense of humor…

My Best Friends Girl - 20 minutes and I could not continue on.

Step Brothers - I still don’t know why I watched the entire thing.

City of Ember - could have been entertaining, the book is probably good.

Nick And Norah’s Infinite Playlist - amusing, slightly childish, but still entertaining. Cera is horribly typecast though.

maybe I’ll watch more grown up movies next week…nah.

I saw Gran TorinO last night it was great.

if you like poker watch THE ROUNDERS with ed norton and matt damon. great movie

I saw Dr Strangelove this week too. The President’s phone calls with Dimitri are classics.
I never get tired of watching that one!! Peter Sellers left this world entirely too soon. Just on a whim, and if you can find it, watch “THE SINGING BLUE MATADOR.” If you are a Peter Sellers fan, you’ll enjoy it.

Spellbound - Maybe it’s because I’m kind of a nerd, but I love the Scripps National Spelling Bee. I know some people are bothered by it being on ESPN, but fuck them. I love the Spelling Bee. Every May it’s like I get to watch another Superbowl.

I really enjoyed this movie. It’s just a quick chronicle of 8 spelling bee competitors getting ready to compete in the National Spelling Bee.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen Spellbound, but I really liked it. I remember feeling bad for a few of those kids though. The pressure they were under and some seemed to have overbearing parents. Plus, that one kid that lost, but still thought he spelled the word right seemed a little ‘off’.

At least that’s how I remember it.

Speaking of Remember the Titans, I just realized last week the Avon Barksdale is Julius from Remember the Titans.

You know, it’s funny. Ever since I started watching The Wire, I seem to play ‘spot the former The Wire’ actor in any movie or TV show I watch now.

Like when Bubbles and Marlo Stanfield were on Heroes. Marlo had a scene in Max Payne as well.

Omar has a cameo in The Incredible Hulk and was also in Gone Baby Gone. I remember when I saw The Incredible Hulk in the theater and he made his cameo, some guy in the theater yells, “OMAR!”

Chris Partlow was on a show I watched recently.

Stringer Bell was in RockNRolla (speaking in his native, British accent) and Prom Night.

Beadie was on The Office for a few episodes.

And let’s not forget that McNulty was the leader or Steel Dragon from Rock Star (also speaking in his native, British accent).

There are more examples, but I’ll stop here. I think I’ve gone too far with my movie nerd trivia.
And Mayor/Governor Carcetti was in one of those “Shanghai” movies with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. Instead of his native irish accent or fake american accent he had his fake english accent.

It’s funny how americans don’t care if english/irish/aussie actors speak with a bad generic american accent, but people from those countries go nuts if an american tries one of their accents.

Anyway, I watched the Degenerate Resident Evil cartoon movie, or was it Resident Evil: Degeneration? Either way it sucked almost as bad as The Clone Wars.

coraline - good movie for any age. i saw it in 3-d. it was a little dark with a sharp humor. it had a serious philosophical tone. it addressed so many topics and weighed in on the pancake/waffle debate on the side of waffles.

Vacancy 2 - Trying to steal from the Saw movies here in that this ‘sequel’ tries to go in the past and show how these guys started out. Except that the movie is stupider. If there was a word I could make up to describe how stupid this movie was, I’d use it here.

Blindness - This was not what I thought it was going to be at all. It’s like they took elements from Lord of the Flies, a Zombie movie and those nasty ass house pictures from that shut-in that had trash everywhere and put them all together in a movie. In a way, I thought it was very realistic. What happens when you put a bunch of blind people in quarantine by themselves? You get a bunch of people laying around naked in their own filth. What happens when it spreads to the rest of the general population? You have streets that look like something from a zombie film. Garbage everywhere, half naked people lying around. It was disgusting. It’s not a good movie though. It’s way too long and seems like it’s going to go on forever. They never even explain what causes the blindness.

Soul Men - It’s a shame this is the last time we’ll see Bernie Mac on the big screen. It had it’s moments, but it was just okay overall.

Miracle at St. Anna Just waaaaaaay too long. This movie could have been a good hour shorter and would have still been able to tell same story and get the same point across. I still don’t know what the Miracle was though.

My Name is Bruce Bruce Campbell rules! Not a good movie at all, but that was kind of the point. I wish more actors had a sense of humor about themselves like he does. He clearly ‘gets it’.

W. - Brolin did a great job here. Actually, I thought most of the cast was pretty brilliant. I’m not going to go into the politics of this movie, but I thought it was good overall, albeit a bit on the slow side.

Nights in Rodanthe - Absolute bore of a movie. Even if you like Diane Lane, there’s nothing here worth watching.

Happily N’Ever After - I liked this movie better when it was called Shrek. A pale imitation of that movie.

Friday The 13th - As far as a serious slasher/thriller goes, it’s probably the best in the series. It filled all my requirements of a good slasher flick. Excellent tits in the movie. However, I do have to say that I slightly miss the ridiculousness of some of the earlier Jason films.

Against The Dark - It’s about as good as you’d expect for a straight-to-DVD Steven Seagal film. Which means it completely sucked ass on a massive scale. I really think he needs to quit making this crap and make Cockpuncher.

Big Trouble in Little China- I can’t believe I’ve never seen this movie before. It has all the 80s cheesiness one could ask for, and is basically a silly version of Taken. Jack Burton has instantly become one of my favorite characters with classic lines such as “It’s hollow? Fuck it!” Hahaha

Jack burton is the fucking man.

Saw pineapple express over the weekend. I was afraid it was going to be another Superbad, but it lived up to the hype–I was laughing my ass off at parts. I will probably watch it again.

“Dude, you’ve been shot, like…7 times.”

God bless Netflix and the xbox 360’s capability of streaming it.

Watched:

Resident Evil: Degeneration. It was okay, only would suggest it if you like the franchise.

Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight. Had a throw back to middle school, still as awesome as it was back then, lol.

Netflix scares me. I barely leave the house as it is.

I watched Definitely, Maybe for the second time.

Not only is it the best romcom chickshitflick I’ve yet seen, it’s got Isla Fisher in it. And she’s even hotter with an American accent.

Watched Slither for the umpteenth time as well. It remains one of my favorite films.

Made it halfway through Noise, then lost interest. I still like Tim Robbins, however. But it was just boring.

Big Trouble in Little China is a fucking classic!

“I don’t think he’s gonna stop!”

Hasn’t it been said that Raiden from Mortal Kombat was originally inspired by Big Trouble in Little China?

I watched that this weekend as well, and I enjoyed it. I wasn’t really expecting much. I might go lesbo for Isla Fisher tho. She’s a beautiful, funny chick. Abigail Breslin makes me want to have babies. Oh well, there go my lesbo tendencies…

I also watched Fool’s Gold. Predictable.

haha, yeah, once my dvds for Supernatural: season 1 start coming in, I doubt I’ll leave my place, too.

Have Forgetting Sarah Marshall coming in tomorrow, so stoked about that.

I vaguely remember Definitely, Maybe. It came on while I was on a cruise and the only time I was in my room was when I was grabbing a shower or sleeping.

When those 3 guys showed up, in my head I heard the MK video game voice say “RAIDEN”. Funny funny stuff.

Untraceable - To me, a suspense thriller loses all suspense and thrill when you find out the killer is some baby-faced pussy about 30 min into the movie. He did come up with some really fucked up ways to kill people though.

End of Days - “They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Kevin Pollack also provides some excellent one-liners in this one. And Robin Tunney is wicked hot.

Bucket List. Worth the rental

The House Bunny. Surprisingly funny

Boondock Saints. One of my personal top 10

Yes! Boondock Saints is awesome! Definitely in my top 10.

The Bucket List is also a good one.
