Movies You've Watched This Week?

Wanted - is that the one where they “curve” the bullet in the previews? Is it not as cheesey as they make it out to look?
Cheesy? No. They are supposed to be genetically inclined to move faster and think faster than the average human. This is based on a graphic novel. Nitpicking that would be like nagging the fact that the child molester’s skin was yellow in Sin City.

I do think they should have casted the part of the new guy better. He was too weak looking to pull off all of the action scenes convincingly.

I did like the overall message though. That humans are over consuming, lazy idiots. Perfect message for a kid’s movie!
Perfect message for anyone. I really don’t even see it taking that long for humans to become completely useless biological matter.

Gotcha. I did some reading and some said that the movie was based on a comic book too? Is that right? If that’s the case then I can accept the fact that they can curve bullets.

Great movie. If you can make head shots artistic, you win.

So what did you like about it besides the camera angles and special effects? They didn’t even really get into the whole story of what these folks were doing. I guess this was a comic book or graphic novel? And why the torture/training scenes? Why would you stay with folks that tie you to a chair and punch you in the face?

I did like the building
LOVED the library

There is an alternate opening to the movie which makes it look almost just like how an “Assassin’s Creed” movie might start out. It was pretty clear to me what the intent was.

Why the torture training scenes? How can you kill someone or even be ready for heavy combat if you fear a punch to the face?

Why would you stay with someone who treated you that way? Ask anyone in a fraternity that involved any amount of “hardship” to get in.

This was based off of a graphic novel that was way more “cartoonish” in how they represented the world. This movie did a decent job of bringing that more towards reality.
There’s an alternate opening on the DVD? I saw it in the theater and enjoyed it, but it looks like I’ll have to rent and watch it again to see all the extras.

And I agree about the casting of James McAvoy as the lead. I just don’t believe that guy pulling off anything physical. He looks like someone that you give a light push to and he’d fly across the room.

I swear it’s like a live reenactment of the intro to Assassin’s Creed.

Come to think of it, that may be one reason it was cut.

Angst - Terrible. The movie seems to start off like in mid-sentence. I actually hit back a few times to make sure the DVD hasn’t skipped ahead. Nope, that’s just how it started. There’s a weird subplot involving conjoined twins where one of the twins was taller and clearly older than the other twin (the credits showed they were sisters, but clearly not twins).

Then, the main girl in the movie apparently had a vagina that can swallow people whole and she is left there wondering where the guy disappeared to. This led some scenes of unintentional hilarity, so if you like hysterical comedy, you might dig this. This would be a good movie to watch MST3K-style with some drinks and some friends and just rip on it.

The Longshots - Fred Durst? I don’t know why anyone thought it was a good idea to let him direct a movie, because he just sucks so bad in general. I normally want to give movies like this a pass because the true story it’s based off is a good one. It’s basically about the first girl to play quarterback in a Pop Warner football game.

But as the same time, that’s the problem. It is your typical based on a true story underdog sports movie. It’s harmless, but there’s nothing original, interesting or funny about it. This genre has just been done to death.

Girl, Interrupted - This was okay. It started off good and then it lost me towards the end. It felt too long. I liked Angelina better when she did crazy roles like this.

Step Brothers - Okay, I’ve been really disappointed with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly lately, but I actually thought this was really funny. I laughed out loud several times. It’s basically Will Ferrell doing his overgrown child act for the millionth time, but I felt it worked for this movie. If you absolutely hate Will Ferrell, you’ll still probably hate it though.

Wall-E

great movie. Funny as heck.

Watched The Grinch That Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey, with the kids. They like it, and sometimes that’s all that matters.
i love that movie. watched it the other day

I watched Akira and Ninja Scroll.

Akria was friggin’ amazing… Ninja Scroll on the otherhand was fantastic from an animated point of view, but not as good as everybody seemed to tell me.

Slumdog Millionare.

Awesome. That’s all I have to say. Kinda reminded me of Pursuit of Happyness.

It’s a foreign film that just recently came out in theaters but it will be worth every penny.

See, I’m just the opposite. Akira is watchable, nothing to write how about, but Ninja Scroll rocks my world.

Yeah, and they took the song Hoppipola from Sigur Ros to advertise, they have smart advertising execs at least. Because slumdogs have nothing to do with Icelandic musicians.

I liked Hancock, but I would have ended it differently.

Taken was alright and I really liked Traitor.

Just saw this gem. I remember seeing the previews when it first came out, thinking Jolie + action = lame. On the contrary. Fun to watch.

I dunno, I just found myself bored with NS most of the time. I actually watched it in three segments instead of one shot. I just couldn’t get into it. Visually though, it was un friggin believable but I just thought it was… blah!

Akria on the other hand, I was friggin’ hooked the whole time. I was glued to the screen when watching that one.

It was an all-apocolyptic Saturday evening for me:

Dawn Of The Dead (2004)- I really liked how they didn’t even bother with trying to explain where the infection came from. Director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) cut right to the chase and started with the zombie mayhem. If he puts the attention to detail into Watchmen that he did with this movie, it’s going to be incredible. Oh, the lounge cover of Disturbed “Sickness” made me laugh my ass off.

Red Dawn- WOLVERINES!!! Lol. While it’s a favorite to tin-foil wearing Chicken Littles everywhere, I don’t think this movie is aging too well. While I try my best to suspend belief, some of the scenes are a little too ridiculous. Why does C Thomas Howell stand there like a sitting duck so the helicopter can cut him to pieces? That’s just stupid.

Just watched It’s A Wonderful Life for the gazillionth time.

The only cool thing about Dawn Of The Dead was the fact it was made across the street from my house. The mall in the movie looked 100x better than it ever did in reality.

One of my all time favorites that I always think I need to re-watch…maybe I should just let the memory be.

DOTD is the best horror remake to date. I dare you to find one better.
