It was unique in that way, but Haunting in Connecticut was another one that seemed to equally balance the supernatural with a possible natural explanation of events (medical instead of legal focus) and then leaving it up to the viewers to decide what really happened. Of the two, I think Haunting in Connecticut was creepier and Emily Rose was a little more “realistic”.
Yep, Connecticut was another good one. Are you going to see “The Last Exorcism”? The previews didn’t really hook me but it seems to be getting very positive reviews
Today, I think.

I agree with your synopsis on EoER for sure, that was a really underrated movie in terms of breadth and content in general.

I’ve heard good things abut The Last Exorcism, I’m pumped. I’m also a HUGE Eli Roth advocate… which means you can go ahead and add Cabin Fever to this list.

Okay I know the title of this thread cause I have participated, However I love movies and watch all generes and qualities. Crank 2 has to be the worst fucking movie I have ever seen. I am still scarred so I just had to let that out. Thanks and carry on.

I downloaded “Grown-ups” starring Adam Sandler, and I’m considering taking legal action against the producers, director, actors and especially the screenwriter for the 700mb of bandwidth my illegal download cost me.

It was bad to the extent that the script seemed like a grade 10 remedial English assignment that a teacher might give. “Ok guys, I’m not expecting a lot from you…don’t worry about character development, plot progression or any of that…just fill a two hour movie with words”

Crank looked like its director was a 14 year old boy with issues.

13 Tzameti: Bloodsport meets Russian Roulette.

Don’t like subtitles? No problem: a Hollywood remake is in the pipeline starring Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham.

This should good fun, once it’s out. Space nazis!

Man I gotta agree with you here! Grown ups to me was awful in every aspect. I would like to punch Adam Sandler in the face get my money back then bang his wife. in that order.

The House of The Devil

Made in 2009, this low budget movie was shot in only 18 days…but the reason I liked it despite being low budget was the attention to detail by setting it in the early 80’s. They had hairstyles and props down to a “T”. I had to check the date on the movie twice to be sure it was really made in 2009 because of how well they set it in that time period.

Cons:

It is short on scares. It chooses to rely on the build up to an event more than the event itself…which totally wouldn’t work unless the lead actress can actually act and is cute to look at…which she fits the model of.

A recent review from New York Times:

Bottom line, if you really like horror movies, you may want to give it a shot because it did surprise me if you can accept WHEN this movie is supposed to be set.

It took one of the actors getting shot very graphically in the head to hook me though.

Hahahaha took you long enough.

I absolutely love The Hidden from 1987. It’s a buddy cop movie about an alien parasite that goes from person to person causing mayhem.

Here’s part 1 from youtube…it starts with a great action scene and if you watch this part I guarantee you’ll wan to see the rest.

Thanks for that Nards. That scene was great. I am downloading that movie now. Can’t wait to watch it.

I see that there is a sequel. Did you see that? What was it like?

^^ Oh, I didn’t want to even mention it. It’s really bad. I mean it’s a direct to video movie and from 1994. So it’s bad because it’s one of those movies where just plain old not much happens…the alien goes from one person to another, kills some people, but they couldn’t even afford a car chase I think. One of those ones where they don’t even film outside much because I understand that filming outside costs a bit more than filming inside.

I did hear a rumor on the net that there may be a remake.

Have you seen Ti West’s debut movie The Roost?:

It’s about a group of teens lost in the backwoods, who come under siege from a roost of vampire bats. Anybody that gets bitten turns into a sort of vampire/zombie hybrid.

I wasn’t going to post this, because the movie is shot on a painfully low budget, is ploddy in parts, and he could’ve done more with the ‘hybrids’ (who aren’t as threatening as they could be), but the director makes it work by making it look like one of those old, late-night horror features from the '50-'60s - it’s even presented by a gaunt-looking host (played by Tom Noonan, the only ‘name’ member of the cast).

As you say, he definitely has a knack for giving a movie a realistic period feel. It shows in this, as well. But it could’ve been better. They didn’t really do justice to the premise. Even with the limits of the budget, I feel like they could’ve done more.

Love and Other Drugs.

Oh, don’t get me wrong - the movie itself was a nonsensical mess. But you get to see a significant amount of Anne Hathaway’s body for a significant portion of the film.

So that’s pretty win in my book.

As great as her tits are, I actually enjoyed the movie. As a former drug rep I got a kick out of how much they made fun of the industry - I’ve encountered reps in the field similar to that ex-Marine guy - and having known people with Parkinson’s it struck a chord.
