Really? That one just made me angry and depressed. The first half (Hillary Swank training to be a boxer) was cinematic old. Then the movie goes in the toilet right after her neck gets broken. I would have preferred it be all about her post-injury rehab and eventual triumphant return to the ring. They could even have included a Rocky-style training montage right after her leg braces come off.

Same here, DB.
I was in a sort of lowly trance for 3 days reading it. I eagerly await the film release.

Uh, hate to break these news to you, but The Road already has a film with Viggo Mortensen as the lead character. I read the book also, finished it in two days. I was crushed for like a week afterwards. What a fantastic book.[/quote]
I’ve been thinking of reading “The Road” but I just finished reading “The Handmaid’s Tale” and I still need to bounce back from that depression! Except for when I read “1984” back in high school, I can’t remember ever wanting a revolution and overthrow of the government to happen so badly.
You know it’s going to be bad ending when you get to the last chapter and there are still no explosions and gun battles.
I agree with whoever said ‘Marley and
Me’ was overrated, did nothing for me. However, a great ‘dog’ book that had me
in tears is ‘The Art of Racing In The
Rain’. If you love dogs, definitely a great
read.
The ending of Magnolia got me pretty good.
Seven Pounds was one of the most emotionally intense movies I’ve seen.
