Mouth Ulcers on TRT

Anyone else experiencing mouth ulcers with TRT??? Any advice on how to get rid of them?

The mouth ulcers might not be directly caused by the TRT, it could be a deficiency. Iron deficiency can cause tongue swelling and mouth ulcers.

The iron requirements of someone on TRT are higher than someone not on TRT.

How long have you been on TRT?

Hey that is helpful so I have been on TRT for about 2 years. I feel great but that’s my biggest issue I will try an iron supplement. Any suggestions on what brand for best absorption?

You first need to get a full iron panel because iron isn’t something that should be supplemented without a deficiency or low level as a result of TRT.

CBC and ferritin should suffice.

The iron gluconate or iron chelate offer the best absorption and least side effects should you come to find ferritin low.

I use the Vitamin Shoppe brand and get good results. I’ve also used Pure Encapsulations brand and results are the same.

What did your Dr say?

Take a daily multivitamin, and drink plenty of water.

Dr said side effect of TRT should go away it hasn’t

Have you had this side effect from the beginning? Or did it set in later?

He’s right about it being a side effect. What happens with some of us is that our bodies begin to use up vitamin reserves faster than before, and it your diet is not chock full of vitamins, you wont be replenishing as fast. Keep in mind Red blood cell formation is increased due to TRT stimulating bone marrow to produce a higher amount of RBCs. In order to increase production its going need more iron, b12, folic acid, and other essential vitamins. This happens to me if I dont get enough B12, and I will even start to feel tingly if Im extremely deficient. I get a monthly B12 shot due to this specific deficiency that is exacerbated by TRT. The sores are happening when you brush your teeth, eat, and sleep. Once they start their healing process, they become larger more painful, and prone to reinjury. So take a multivitamin daily, and get some labs before you add B12 or Iron supplementation. B12 prolly wont cause any negatives if you take more than what is required, but Iron can have some negative impact to your blood consistency. So start with the multi and watch the side effect go away.

Thank you guys I started a multi over the weekend I already feel better really appreciate it and I’m going for labs in the next week or so.

It started early but very mild then got worse past five months or so…
